Spent the weekend hiking a loop of my own creation up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The loop incorporates the Hubbard Brook Trail, Three Ponds Trail, Donkey Hill Cutoff, Mt Kineo Trail, and a 2 mile road walk down Hubbard Brook Rd. I believe the mileage is a little bit over 14 miles total and around 2000ft of elevation gain/descent. Overall this was a very enjoyable hike but with a fair amount of overgrowth and no chance of keeping your feet dry. No crazy mountain views but some nice ponds and spots to hang out along the way.

Please note that I am not recommending any of the gear seen in any of my videos. The gear I use is what I have found works best for me at the time period I am using it. I have come to these gear choices through vast levels of trial, error, and experimenting with gear out on trail.
Gear, clothing, footwear, etc. are not one style works for all. Do as much research as you can, try out things in person if able, and make the best informed purchase decision for YOU. Do not buy gear just because it worked for, was showcased by, or recommended by someone on KZfaq

Last year I was leaving trail and summit names out of many of my videos due to issues with massive overcrowding caused by the pandemic, as well as, issues in regards to what I would consider uneducated or irresponsible hiker behavior. The most notable of which was trash, and human waste / toilet paper I was finding directly on, or just off, trail. I kept some of the trail and location names in this video. If you are using this video for planning purposes, please use the trail responsibly and try to follow leave no trace principles. It only takes one person not doing so to ruin it for everyone. If you are a newer hiker please watch this video before heading out on trail: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ms6Uaqhl162tp3U.html Here is an article about the issue with trash and human waste specifically in the Whites www.nhpr.org/post/trouble-trails-forest-service-grapples-crowds-trash-and-human-waste#stream/0 Another article about Max Patch (an iconic part of the Appalachian Trail) and the issues occurring there www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2020/09/23/max-patch-residents-campers-creating-safety-hazards-mountain/5858936002/ Here you can learn about leave no trace (LNT) principles lnt.org/why/7-principles/ www.nps.gov/articles/leave-no-trace-seven-principles.htm

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't stay to the end!? Really like the hike wrap that you did at the end as a bonus for all of us who did stick around. Another awesome video. I have to say that you manage to capture the most beautiful views of the world around you, whether it be a pond, the woods, a meadow, the red f, etc. The light music playing in the background is all we viewers need to enjoy the moments that you bring to us. As always, I look forward to seeing your next adventure.

Love it, just getting into the "watch people hike" genre on KZfaq. On this channel the music is not incongruent with the scenery (unlike some other channels), there's not too much talking. The guy (Chris?) is pretty low key. I definitely appreciate how long it takes to edit these videos.

Chris, I live about 20 minutes from the north Three Ponds Trailhead and love this area for its remoteness, wildness, and lack of crowds. You may have chosen some of the toughest weather to hike it in -- wet, full July growth, but looks like you made the best of it. Great mid-spring (late May), and fall season trails when the growth has died back a bit. Looks like you made the best of it! Enjoy more off the beaten treks. I look forward to seeing more of your takes on these areas! :-)

thank you for the video! I appreciate them. Daniel Doan in his book 50 Hikes in the White Mountains describes a three day backpack that follows the Carrigain Notch Trail to Stillwater junction, then next day on to the Shoal pond Trail to Thoreau Falls, then returning to Stillwater junction via Thoreau Falls trail - finally on third day up & over Mt. Carrigain via Desolation trail. I'm not sure how you feel about suggestions, but when I watched your video of hiking Carrigain in December, I saw you had no views at the top. You should try for the views again!
