Can’t blame Trent’s for maximising profits but you sometimes wonder what the sellers are thinking… even the “donated” Micra should probably have been sold for a couple of hundred. The others were good retail stock in the £3-5k range with a used parts and an in-house mechanic, although now we know where the used parts come from!

Its things like this, and things like scrappage schemes, that killed the budget car market for those that cant get cars on HP, or don't have the income to afford a £1000 car. It is genuinely crazy that cars are being scrapped for the miniscule reasons. Instead of scrapping a car, use parts from one car to repair another to get a working car back out there for someone who needs it.

@@LordClunk Agree. It is just not that difficult. My 18 year old car had the starter motor fail a few months ago and it was no big deal to replace that part to keep it running. Yet all the people in these videos would have thrown up their hands in despair and scrapped an otherwise decent car through pure laziness. They will regret this foolishness soon when cheap ICE cars become scare and the only alternative is very expensive EVs. Then we will hear all about the good old days from such people.

One assumes that when a car arrives in your car park uninvited Trent's do due diligence and make sure it really has been abandoned and not just parked there because the go has gone.

The car was in our carpark for several days before we moved it, it will then be stored at our depot whilst efforts are made to contact the registered keeper 👍

I just got a bmw x5 e53 3.0d 2005 45.000 miles was parked at a block of flats in 2012 and left as the owner didn’t know what to do with it I put a note on it and the owner contacted me and said take it so I did I got all the paperwork and all the keys and the original paperwork from the dealership as he was the guy who bought it new in 2005 I got it to mine put a new battery on it and fresh diesel and she fired up and drove no problem at all and no warning lights

The problem with most of these cars are repairs which cost more than the cars worth its such a shame as so many of these cars have low millage

We have very reliable software that won't allow anything over 1500kg to be allocated to the single car transporters.

You would have thought that trents would have bought the car rather than just hoping that they are still available!! To drive to reading and back the car must have been a gooden cuz that like 80 miles empty.

We don't just hope it's available, the customer excepted the online quote and agreed the collection date, we don't pay before collection, just like you wouldn't transfer funds to a private seller without seeing the vehicle.

Just bought (maybe unwisely) a diesel Citroen and reading fun tales about adblue pumps gumming up and having to buy a whole new tank assembly for a grand. That's going to put a lot of perfectly good cars in the scrappies over a bit of nothing. :(

@KevTee's Scrap Car Adventures ah ok. Is that a Peugeot? I'm looking at getting a transporter to take my Opel Manta GTE and and Vauxhall Firenza droopsnoot to shows around UK. Just one of them is a tad heavy for my old Transit transporter. So was thinking of getting a 7.5t or 12t Daf LF twin Transporter. But if the one on this video can carry 1740kgs. I'll try find similar and use a trailer instead so when driving without trailer, I don't have to worry about the limiter as it gets annoying being limited to 53mph all week
