Solo wildcamping in the Lake District. Great Mell Fell. Ultralight tent.

Following weeks of heavy winds and rain in Cumbria we finally get a break, and I head up to the summit of Great Mell fell for a solo wildcamp. It was very wet and boggy underfoot on.the ascent, but once at the top there were plenty of dry flat places to pitch my tent. I get set up and chill out with the awesome views, the sunset was pretty special too. I hope you all enjoy, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁 #camping #wildcamping #tent

Cheers both 😁 absolutely unreal views for a little fell, yeah the trekking pole tent did help with pack weight, but I struggle for room in it 🤣 I need to save for a Durston x mid or similar 🤣 hope you are both well, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁

Site of a Bronze Age Round Cairn or Bowl Barrow on the landmark summit of Great Mell Fell (573m asl). A turf covered mound of stones 8.5-7m diameter and 0.8-0.4m high, which appears to have been previously excavated/disturbed. The site commands an excellent 360 degree panorama of the surrounding landscape. No doubt the purpose of its position was to command views/alignments to some of these existing natural features or other Bronze Age monuments, for the purpose of spiritual connection.

@@ACumbrianladoutdoors I love Cumbria for all its history ..there’s an old settlement nr pooley b on top of the fell ..I bet that was in line of site of great mell fell ..
