Why do you need to feel like you have to explain why you need to remove a few low level branches,when i worked in forestry it was standard proceedure to take all branches off to head height.. Let's also not forget that all branches are off when they're felled anyway.

isnt the bottom part also waterproof, since it can be also used as a regular tent? I understand that with such a closed type rainfly you have no additional space for other gear (backpack etc.) underneath, but it seems you should be pretty safe (not getting wet) while in the hammock during the rain even with when it is bit windy. What is your height and weight? Do you think it is really sturdy enough for up to 200kg (im 105kg myself). Thank you. Also for the great review.
@ACumbrianladoutdoors
@ACumbrianladoutdoors 23 күн бұрын
It can only be used on the ground when dry, or you will need to put a groundsheet down. Any kind of wind with rain will mean any gear underneath will get wet for sure 👍 I'm 6ft 3 and 15.5 stone and it is more than sturdy enough for me 👍 atb Paul 🙏 ⛺️🏕🏕🏕😁

Thanks, very detailed review. Just a comment on a lightweight/inexpensive mod. If you put a ring buckle on the central inner tie point, you could then loop the tensioning cord through it. This would then allow you to 'slide' the inner groundsheet 'backwards and forwards' along the tensioning cord when not pegged down and give space for cooking inside. This would literally add a few grams but allow cooking/brewing when its raining outside. p.s Thanks for making the comment at the beginning about seam sealing. I agree its a far too common practise/excuse by the manufacturers to 'penny pinch' on their duty to provider a suitable product...do waterproof jackets require seam sealing and/or would you be expected to put a top coat on a car to protect the paint?
@ACumbrianladoutdoors
@ACumbrianladoutdoors 29 күн бұрын
Cheers buddy, glad you liked it 😁 that's a good little mod suggestion, would make it something like my scarp 1 👍 Yeah I feel like there's no real excuse for them bot coming seam sealed, even if they did them in store for you it would be more manageable 💪 thanks for watching and commenting, it's really appreciated, atb Paul 🙏 🏕 🏕🏕😁

Thats Cotton Grass mate. I always love a nosey at what others are carrying. I had quite an expensive and troublesome transformation going from being a Donkey hiker to now one of these UL Weirdo types and i bought a few of the popular packs including 3 types of Atom Packs and ULA packs so you can imagine how much i spent but to be fair i did get good money back on my Atom packs and the ULA packs i managed to bag for cheap on eBay but then i invested some deep thought and decided that going light and smaller was causing me some discomfort and just like you i found that the smaller volume packs ended up curving and not feeling great against my back to the solution was to do what i have thought about for quite some time and go for what i consider to be the Bentley of Rucksacks in the UL category The Zpacks. My main reasons were they are the lightest packs available to carry the max weight i envisioned i would carry and around 600gms for a framed pack is kind of outrageous plus i wanted more volume so i didn't have gear strapped all around the outside which personally i cant stand and it makes people look like refugees and leaves expensive items vulnerable to the weather and getting lost but mostly i wanted to be comfortable and the Zpacks can be dialled in like no other in its category and i know its a cliche but you forget theres anything on your back when you get it right and being able to feel a breeze on your back instead of a sweaty mess on hot days is sooooo good. I have been subbed to you for ages bit not watched many because i never had my bell clicked so i will look forward to going through your library. I will do a video highlighting all the pros and cons of the Zpacks soo so you can see for yourself , they are expensive but its money well spent ATB pal.

Ah cotton grass, that makes sense now 🤣🤣 I've never been a gram counter, and for "normal" camps I don't mind being a little heavier to carry a few luxuries. I too hate having loads of stuff on the outside of my pack, normally its only water and my tent poles, I'm pleasantly surprised that other than some stuff in the outside stretchy part I can still achieve the same with the EP40. Yeah the ultralight game isn't cheap, I feel your pain 🤣🤣🤣 ill definitely have a look at the zpacks rucksack 👍 great to have you tune back into the channel, I'd like to think I'm making better videos now 😀 and there will be plenty for you to catch up on 👌 be great to see your overview vid of the lightweight gear 👍 thanks for watching, and a fantastic comment, it's massively appreciated, atb Paul 🙏 🏕 🏕🏕😁

They can’t seam seal the tents in the factory. They don’t sew in tape to waterproof the seams, to save weight and cost. Chemical sealing post production would require setting up each tent and sealing them by hand. Image that on a 10,000 production run. This would mean each tent would cost more than twice as much and have lower stocks. Hence why you’re paying £170 not £250-£1000.
@ACumbrianladoutdoors
@ACumbrianladoutdoors Ай бұрын
Hi Nick, thanks for watching and commenting, it's really appreciated 🙏 you are ever so slightly incorrect though, the usual seam sealing strips don't stick to sylnylon therefore they can't use them, it's not to save weight. When I bought my Scarp 1 from tarptent they sealed it for me, granted at a cost of £25 OEX definitely could offer this service for a reasonable price, it could be done in store where there is plenty of room to do it, so they would only be maybe doing 40 or 50 tents per store across the country 👍 atb Paul 🙏 🏕🏕🏕😁
