Many other ppl have mentioned this but I wanted to add a bit. Tsunade has a fear of blood, but it’s not something random, she developed her fear of blood because of her traumatic experience with her partner dying in front of her. Notice the amount of blood in the scene where she tries to keep him alive. So when Kabuto cuts his hand and splashes his blood on Tsunade, she’s paralyzed by her traumatic stress response, which is why he wins. Only when Tsunade is able to find new hope in Naruto, instead of living in the past with her late brother and partner, she’s able to overcome her fear. Leaving her past behind means leaving her trauma too, and her trauma was what was weakening her.

They are all nerfed on this fight. Orochimaru without his arms Jiraiya is drugged Tsunade is still suffering from Kabuto attack and this is her first battle since ages after her "boyfriend" died cuz of her blood trauma

11:48 For sure. Kishimoto, the author of this series, has gone on record saying he isn’t great at writing women; which is why so many female characters end up boy-crazy or one-note. I’d say despite that he did a banger job with Tsunade, though. Tenten and Temari are also like, normal human beings and don’t base their entire characters around their crush, so I guess there’s that, but they’re minor characters. Hinata’s also shy and into Naruto, but her crush is more endearing than clingy, and we see her devote herself to personal growth for reasons beyond something as shallow as getting with a cute guy. Naruto inspires her, but he isn’t her goal. But I have to give credit for 57:15 to give reason for Sakura and Ino to be the way they are to help Shikamaru grow. It’s not like people like those two don’t exist.

I'm not really sure if that's the official name for the OST but they're all titled like that on KZfaq, so you should be able to enjoy that beautiful piece if you search that! Love the reaction btw! Tsunade has an arsenal of ninjutsu but she typically relies on taijutsu because it is more aligned with her fighting style. As a medical nin, ninjutsu wastes too much chakra using attacks that might not even land. Using taijutsu and her crazy strength, she expends chakra mainly when her attacks land and reserves it for medical ninjutsu

I'm glad you liked Tsunade! She is one of my favorite characters in the shown, and easily my favorite among the women. Not only is she so well developed as a character, she is badass as well. Now I'll answer a few questions you had. "What does destroying the Leaf have to do with immortality?" Orochimaru simply has a grudge against the Leaf, he doesn't want to destroy it for his immortality plan or anything. I believe they mentioned it back in the Chunin Exams arc, but the reason he is suspected of having a grudge against the Leaf potentially has to do with how ironically at one point Orochimaru DID want to be 4th Hokage. However, the 3rd Hokage (his sensei) chose someone else because he sensed evil in Orochimaru's heart. This likely felt insulting to Orochimaru, like his talents were being overlooked. In addition the grudge is likely even more personal now, because in taking his arms the 3rd Hokage caused him tons of pain and inconvenience. In revenge he surely wants to destroy what the 3rd found most precious to him, the village. Hope that makes sense, Orochimaru just has some twisted irrational grudge vs the Leaf basically. "How is the title of Sannin given?". Good question. There are only 3 Sannin, and they are the 3 students of the 3rd Hokage. Sannin literally translated to "three ninja". It's not really an official title or rank, but more of a term the ninja world uses to refer to those 3 because of how powerful they are and how much they have influenced ninja history (through accomplishments in war, mainly). All 3 are more than strong enough to be a Kage, they're extremely impressive and world famous. Even in the flashbacks where you saw Tsunade was younger they had already made a name for themselves in some of the shinobi world wars and as we saw were already called the Sannin back then. "How can Kabuto beat Sannin level opponents?". So let me first say, normally he cannot beat a Sannin or Tsunade for that matter. He is not on their level, not even close. As other characters have hinted at, he is very strong though and is more or less in Kakashi's league. That alone is still extremely impressive, because Kakashi (while not being Sannin level) is extremely strong. Kakashi is strong enough to be qualified for the Hokage position if need be, even if he is not on the level of some of the strongest characters in the series. So why did Kabuto beat Tsunade then? First off, it seems you may have missed that Tsunade had a fear of blood (or maybe you knew and said it edited out). She gained that fear when she was traumatized by Dan's death, if you recall her hands were covered in his blood. That's the primary reason Kabuto was able to win, he sprayed his own blood all over her which sent her into a state of shock essentially and she was no longer able to fight back because she had a PTSD attack essentially. Before that Tsunade had the upper hand and would have destroyed him. Worse case scenario Kabuto would have forced her to use the Mitotic Regeneration jutsu she used to heal those impalement wounds Orochimaru gave her and that would heal any damage Kabuto did to her, he would have been f*cked. Don't listen to anyone that tells you Kabuto is Sannin level, he is not. He took advantage of her fear of blood. Also, the only reason he was able to keep up with her in Taijutsu was likely because she was both rusty and just mentally weaker at that time. After she got over her fear of blood and starting beating the tar out of Orochimaru I think it's plain to see that her overall movements became faster, stronger, and sharper. Her mental state in general likely gave Kabuto an advantage. Not to say Kabuto is weak, he is extremely strong and is kage level like Kakashi. Tsuande and the Sannin put him to shame though, he is not on their level. "Is Tsunade stronger than the other Sannin" Probably not, I think most would say Jiraiya and Orochimaru are about 1 tier above her in overall power despite Tsuande being one of the strongest ninja alive. They would never beat Tsunande in hand to hand combat though, they'd get clobbered l;like Orochimarui did since that's her specialty. She focused chakra in her fists or other body parts to explosively amplify the power of her taijutsu strikes, it's actually similar to medical ninjutsu and involves tons of complex chakra control which is why only she can use it on that level. She also just has monstrous physical strength on top of that, no one really compares to her in that regard. Those 2 have the edge in the ninjutsu department is all. It just seemed like Tsuande was stronger to you because Jiraiya and Orochimaru are super nerfed here. Orochimaru lost all ninjutsu with no arms, and Jiraiya is probably even worse off with how heavily drugged he is. HOWEVER, the difference in power is not that big. They would probably beat her in a fight 1 vs 1, but it would be a very difficult fight for them and they would likely take some considerable damage in the process. Tsunade is not to be trifled with, she's the real deal and very OP especially with her automatic self-healing jutsu which is her trump card.

Tsunade had a crippling fear of blood, traumatized by her past with her loved ones dying around her. I’m fairly sure that’s the weakness that a Orochimaru told Kabuto. She only was able to get over it because of Naruto.

the summons are like rock paper scissors where one is weak against one, but can beat another. Thats why this summons between all three is known as the threeway deadlock summon

Guy is a man who respects his own principals above all else, and he met a boy who embodied those principals beyond all measure. Guy raised the boy who became everything he aspires to be. When he says he'd die along with him, it's because he believes that Lee is the pinnacle of his principals in practice, and if Lee can't succeed then Guy would just be wasting his time.

I would say for most of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden the strongest character doesn't necessarily always win a fight. Tsunade is definitely stronger than Kabuto at this point, but he surprised her with his ability to sever muscles, tendons, arteries, etc. with just a touch. She underestimated him and then he sealed the deal by exploiting her phobia of blood.

50's not ancient, but to a kid it is. Kakashi was in his 30's but in the first eps to become genin, naruto says "you have that old guy smell!" Generally it's true, kids at that age think 20's and 30's are old, let alone someone in their 50's.

27:47 So a note here, this scene gets a little bit lost in translation Orochimaru says ninja are called that because of ninjutsu. This part is fine. But Jiraiya responds that a SHINOBI (which is the original term where the ninja name came from) is one who endures. He makes a similar "wordplay" that Orochimaru does, but that gets lost in transation. because Shinobi in Japanese is 「忍び」 The kanji 「忍」 is also one used for "enduring" (and spy, sneak and other stuff) (in case you are wondering び is just "bi" in the japanese script)

56:40 50 years in a world where most people die in war or due to assasinations before 30 is pretty old. It's all relative! There is a reason Kakashi was made Anbu Chief with 12 and is now probably 30ish and a legendary ninja, or that only third Hokage looks OLD old.

I like Naruto because every character feels unique and has their own backstory and there's a ton of different characters whereas most animes tend to only focus on a handful of characters because it's a lot to keep track of and have ideas for.

1:05:30 - see now i disagree, "50-50 at best" is the more real realistic estimate, even if it's 50-50 does not mean that Lee would accept it in a heartbeat, there's still the fact that he's dead if the operation fails, that's something that he had to figure out for himself, 90/10 would've meant he'd retire in a heartbeat, rather than choose to go through with it.
