Budget Soldering irons mostly suck. But, this one sucks less. In fact, it's kinda not bad. I'd even go as far to say, with all the tips, temperature control and price... it's good. And worth checking out.

A nice middleground is the weller analog solder station. $37, temperature controlled, super well-built.

I used the 8$ harbor freight one with a light dimmer and an 8gage solid copper pit I made, for a few years.

that's a really good deal considering how well it soldered an entire TKL. It remains to be seen how long the iron will last, but for anyone planning do try a first build this seems like an iron to recommend. I love my Hakko fx888, but it's a lot to spend if you aren't ever planning to use it much down the road. P.S. UNLEASH THE KLIPPIES!

Do you have any keyboards out for sale? I would buy a regular mech keyboard but I don't want to spend my money on something that's inferior to a custom build. (I only have like 50$ tho lol)

Some tips: Never use a wet sponge, tin the tip with tip tinner, keeps it fresh.. Clean the iron between use with the metal scouring pad.. Iron tips should last a year no problem.. Also, there is no reason not to use leaded solder.. Much easier to work with and most of the things you hear about leaded solder is just urban legend..
