Tom and I got out today for a few fun hours, got a little video of the Sky Voyager, KK Ace (completely out of frame because of a bad camera angle!) and the P30. Lot's of kids in the field today fascinated by the planes, makes it more fun!

Great you have posted a new video! The P 30 was probably 'Hell's Kitchen'? Your videos made me a rubber power fan.

Yes, that's the P30 Hell's kitchen, here it does 2:20 without thermal assistance, really fun plane to fly, consistent great flights! "Your videos made me a rubber power fan" - that's the purpose of the site, thanks!

R/C assist is a must for me as I can no longer take long walks and I like to keep my airplanes. Also, the only field available to me for flying is too small to reasonably do FF. Of course, you put all of that in a cocked hat. Great to watch your airplanes fly.

Thanks, yes, you don't lose airplanes this way, you also don't have to spend time recovering them, and it makes it possible to fly in a very small field.

Some years ago after seeing an article in Aeromodeler about your rubber rc models I've been wanting to have a go. Finally I now have my Sky Voyager ready with RC rudder and dt, also a KK Gypsy but with RC rudder and elevator. Every time I take the Sky Voyager out the breeze picks up too much, but with UK winter fast approaching we can get many dead calm days, so I'm sure my first flights with it won't be far of now 👍 Thanks for your inspiration as I do have a few rubber powered kits waiting to be built. As I'm into soaring, they are more the glideresque type models as apposed to scale or cabin models.

Oh yeah a p1b1.you I inspired me along with Josh and Hope to do this,just waiting on the covid post to nz.brought a 2and hand spektrum dx6i and a reciever servo combo bang good.and some flash rubber from J,H... Just cant get any batteries under 150 mah here.... Best wishes.

You can use the 150, it's just a little heavy for the p1b1. It flies OK, a little tricky to trim.

Another enjoyable video! Thanks for posting. I'm curious: Does anyone ever give you a hard time about flying there? As in, "Hey, you can't do that here!"

No, no one has ever done that, it's usually the opposite - people ask when I'll be out again. I'm flying there over 10 years, on only one occasion a new park guy (the regular ones are fans) questioned us, he called the 'main office' and when he told them two guys were flying models with rubber bands, they told him to leave us alone!

That's some rubber motor you wind into the P30 what size is it? I know your name comes up quite often on different forums I read, let's face it you are the master 😁👍

P30 motors are restricted to 10 grams and that's what I use, so the motor is 6 strands by about 20 inches or so long. Would be nice if RC P30 caught on, I think it would make for really fun contests, with a land-within-a-certain-area requirement.

The winding outside the plane looks really smart! How does the back end of the rubber automatically find a fixed position on the p30? On the P1B-1 assembly video you mentioned you insert the small rear peg through a small aluminium tube in the back once inserted which makes sense to me. Either way would love to see the procedure in better quality with the P1B-1 and some more its flights 🤩 I got myself a few P1B-1 and will convert one to RC as well 🥰

The rear bobbin has two hooks that stick out (Piserchio hooks, check Andriukov.com for a Wakefield example), you get them on either side of the rear peg and turn it and they hook onto the peg (if I get a chance I'll do a video on the hook). It's great for Oldtimers, Coupes, etc., but it's a pain in the neck for the P1B-1 because the tube is so small, the Piserchio hooks don't fit in, so I do it with a tube. It's too much of a pain for the P1B-1 so I fly that now when I have a friend around to hold it while I wind it! Everything else I do outside with the tube.

Great stuff. I see in your older vids you're flying at the Teaneck Armory. Is this still a flying venue ? Which club flies there ? There's not many indoor places around.

Yes, there is still flying there (though I haven't gone lately with the latest covid surge, but soon), the club is the Metropolitan Sport Squadron, do a search and the link with contact info comes up at AMA, there is flying on Wednesdays from 9 - 2.

I actually have 3 videos in the works, just waiting to get a little test flight footage, should be this summer. I also found some other 'lost' videos I'm thinking of putting up in the interim, but I'll work on something, sorry but I have so many planes my productivity has gone down!

@@operculum Thanks, I haven't even had a head cold for over 2 1/2 years, the mask apparently does something. I've been doing indoor since March, might put up something on that, still waiting for a calm day to finish a few outdoor videos!
