(apologies for uploading this video 2x. The first had some problems we had to fix.)
Bo keeps busy when he's at the château. We see him at breakfast and dinner mostly. :) Some of his projects have been to clean up the Orangery flower beds and to sand and paint the wooden railings on our 1st and 2nd floor windows. We also got some much needed brocante items for some of the rooms. xxoo Karen & Bo

Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

On KZfaq there is a gardening show that is so helpful in planting pots etc, Garden Answer. I found it so helpful for a novice. Your chateau is lovely

Last year I discovered that you can buy small hand held electric sanders, they are great for small areas like your balustrades. They save a lot of time and energy. And are reasonably priced. 😊

You have the prettiest property. The rock cliffs, the lawns, the long driveway and a gorgeous Chateau are magical. You sure did well obtaining all that beautiful furniture and the crystal, WOW! I have the same knives with bone handles...they mustn't go into the dishwasher, one of mine was put in by mistake ...oops! That was a nice tribute to your neighbours on the passing of their Aunt.

Very nice cast iron and the wood on top is not in a bad condition. We had to change all the wood on the railings, all the best, Henrik

Loving your railing sanding and painting. I understand the cost of removing those rails and having them coated as expensive so painting them will do for now. I enjoy watching all your upgrades and hard work and it is inspiring for me to do my own upgrades. Love watching you every week and especially your new furniture purchases as your neighbors Aunt will forever be a part of your chateau.

I took mine off and had them gently sand blasted and then painted by an auto painter! Cost a bit but I will never have to paint them again! No dulling, fading or rusting. 🎉❤ you may want to consider this when you have to redo them. Yours look great!

Deepest condolences to your neighbors for the loss of a beautiful aunt. They are very kind and giving. All ofbthese beautiful things will honor her memory at the chateau. She did have impeccable taste. I eould like yo see all pieces together in the room with her bed in it and designate her memory there as a caring aunt. Great job on the painted rails. Hope the sandblasting works. I see others on here with some good ideas too. Bo, putting the underlay down correctly like that will show a huge improvement. Well done. I learned the hard way too. It was great to see the kids. Great job kids.

When making breakfast for guests maybe you would like to make granola. It’s easy and keeps in the fridge as well as freezes. Easy to make and pull out for guests.

Make sure your silver has silv er markings before you set out to polish them.

Yes, all pure silver has markings on the item indicating they are silver, where they come from, and logos indicating dates. If you polish silver that is plated, you will wear off the silver and be left with brass.@@queensescape

With the railings, would a metal brush work in getting old paint etc off them? Wire brushes are great for getting in all the nooks and crannies.

I’m not sure what Bo has planned but he’s definitely planning to remove the paint.

I think the railings should be a dark charcoal to stand out from the chateau.

I think the monument historic ‘police’ won’t let us do that, but you and others with design sense like you have suggested that to me multiple times now and I going to see about it. Sounds so smart. 😊

that hat looks like a dallas cowboys hat. Thats the funniest hat in the world to be wearing in February hahahaah the cowboys haven't played football in february in decades.

Yes. My husband is Danish and doesn’t really follow football. He liked the star on the hat when he visited the US with one of his sons. 😂 So, I get your comment at least. 😊⭐️

How will you clean below the windows the blackish areas ?

If you go back just a couple of videos before this one, you can see that we had the exterior of the castle walls spayed twice with a product, that over time will kill the fungus. It should take 2-5 months. Now we need some rain and sun, rain and sun.
