Interesting to see Lionel mentioned on the catalogue, i knew they had a tie up intellectually but never knew it extended further. Lionel are another favourite of mine from the period. Keep up the good work

I think there is a bit of history linking the manufacturers, something to look out in the reference books at some point. Thanks for watching, take care and all the best to you

It's good there are a few of us that like showing these older items, I bet Oscar probably has one of these tucked away somewhere. All the best to you

Interesting as always. The service sheet #38 of August 1963 shows p/n S.2142 "Smoke Uint Holder" which looks like it would take the tube type smoke unit like yours has. Service sheet #67 of April 1968 (for the R150S) shows the more usual smoke unit X.393 with the little element and the pump driven off the motor. Tom.

Fantastic set, the b12 looks like it wants to Romp Away - I have 3 Hornby b12s of differing ages & colours, but they are All Very “Eager Beavers” - As old as this Set is, that would be a Great Package to Find under “The Tree” 🎄 and would give hours of Fun 👏🏻

Thanks for looking at this. It's good to hear you like your versions, you are right about these being eager. I just filmed a video for this Wednesday running them at full Tri-ang Smoking Speed, I hope you find time to watch it. All the best to you

That crimson and cream livery is great . I run the buffet with some much later Hornby mk1s and the colour matches pretty well . I also have three coaches from the 73-77 period which are bright red and yellow by comparison . Hornbys psychodelic period ! These catalogues are so evocative of the time . I spent hours studying them from the 1965 catalogue onwards

I have a few of those brighter ones too, I'll get them running soon. It's good to mix up the coaches sometimes. Take care, all the best to you

What a lovely little set. Its nice to see all the little bits and pieces still there. I dont know about others, but very often when I but a vintage set or locomotives, Im almost as happy to find various paper work or a little bottle or tube of oil with meccano or triang printed on them as I am to see the main contents. As for occasionally finding the tested tags still in the box, I pick them up and wonder about the person at the end of the production line who ran them for the first time and fitted that tag, so many years ago. Perhaps Im a little odd like that. 😂

I don't think your thinking is odd at all. I often think the items must have bought some joy to people in the past and hopefully someone else will care for them in the future. Best regards to you

I wouldn't have worried too much, the Seuthe and Synchrosmoke only start working above 10 or 11 volts. I remember having them racing around at maximum speed just to get a few wisps of smoke LOL. Some folk have put a 1/4 or 1/2 ohm resistor across the motor to drop the speed while the smoke unit gets an EMF that'll make it work.

I might experiment with a resister, that's a great suggestion. Take care, best regards to you

My B12 has the later synchrosmoke unit, rather than one of these Seuthe units. It actually works quite well, or did when I last ran it over 10 years ago. An export model fitted with Jouef loop couplings, I picked it up mint in its box for a bargain price at the end of the day at a train fair here in France. I remember negotiating the price at €20, « I’m the only British customer here, no one else is going to buy it from you ». A bit cheeky, but to my surprise the seller agreed.

@@MrSnooze I wonder if liquid for e.cigarettes would work? It produces quite good « smoke ». I did try building a smoke unit using an e.cigarette heating element but it draws far too much current and kept tripping the safety cut out on my Duette transformer, so I had to give up on that one.

Lovely loco and set, itd he reslly nice to see the smoke working (you might need to ramp up the power to make it work) but you ahould be able to use baby oil as a smoke oil for the Seuthe and syncro smoke unit

Snooze (Toolmaker?), Enjoyed as always. How does this train, with its pinpoint axle wheels on the Mk 1s and sleeved wheels on the tender, back through single and multiple Triang turnouts, and then Peco code 100 turnouts? There is a lot behind that comment. Double 0 wheels and Triang wheels in particular could well serve as doctoral thesis material.
@MrSnooze
@MrSnooze 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for this interesting comment Pete. Tri-ang has a few different flange depths on wheels over the years. Once System 6 (code 100) track appeared the flanges were all to suit the lower profile. Some interesting running can be had trying older items over finer track. Maybe an experiment for the future. Thanks for watching, best regards to you
