I agree with Cameron’s stubbornness about getting the best tests & care for her patient, but it’s bad medicine to leave the patient out of the loop. You should tell them there’s a possibility of a serious problem and that’s what you’re looking for with tests, gives them longer to digest the news if it’s bad and then if it turns out to not be a serious/terminal thing that’s great.

It's also a waste of hospital resources if you're chasing up unlikely possibilities because it makes you feel good, rather than going for the obvious solution. Which leaves less resources for patients that can be cured. While the gold standard is to do everything, you also have to deal with the constraints of the real world

They are called the five stages of grief, but five stages of dying would be a more accurate term. Everyone grieves differently and most people don't grieve in anything close to the five stages of "grief" doing it out of order, skipping steps entirely, going back and forth, adding different emotions. People with terminal illness who have to cope with their own approaching death generally go through those five steps, and usually in that order.

@jessiehogue.
@jessiehogue. 6 жыл бұрын
That's sweet, but there is such a thing as caring, being willing to suffer and being brave... while also not keeping the truth from your patient even though it might be a ugly one. While I consider caring as a close second, give me the truth over the willingness to suffer for me, and bravery, any day of the week. I much prefer a truthful coward, and an honorable person who will not shed a tear when I'm gone because they don't know me, than a person who's neither yet hides the truth from me when I very obviously should be told as soon as humanly possible. Of course I'd rather have all of it, but hey, I'm not asking for a perfect being. I'm asking for a good doctor.

@@pey5571 if I remember correctly, Cameron has a savior complex where she feels good about herself by “fixing” people. She gets attached and heartbroken when things go wrong, but in the end, it’s how Cameron gets her fix of being someone’s angel. House and Foreman both saw through her. Her marriage with her husband wasn’t love. Not real love. She went into it to satisfy her savior complex. The fact that her feelings were “real” and she did “mourn” and “suffer” alongside him is part of the complex. She wouldn’t be doing it right if it didn’t hurt her. Her feelings for House were the same. He was a broken man who needed fixing. And she loves to “fix” people. She doesn’t really love the actual person. She loves the idea of her being there for people who need her “salvation.”

This is one of the few episodes where i was with Cameron and understood her stubbornness, I was usually annoyed on how involved she got with her patients but here she wanted to give a woman hope, she was looking for a miracle or being wrong on that terrible diagnosis. I’m definitely in her favor on this episode. Anyway that’s one of the greatest things on this show. Every caharcatervhad their moments where you loved them and moments when you wanted to kill them lol 😂 Foreman I always thought he was way to stocked up but I agreed with him at the end of this same episode.

This is when being too emotional has a bad idea. She wasted the hospital's time and money that could be used on other patients to make herself feel better, rather than using evidence-based medicine. Oh and the patient will have to worry about those extra bills while she's dying. If you have an x-ray with a tumour you do a biopsy and then tell the patient. Only if the biopsy comes back as not being cancerous then you look at other expensive procedures.

This happened to a friend. Summer of 2019. We were in the same college and lived in the same city. College was almost over, just a project submission was pending. We both came back to the city after our last finals. He had a cough and a fever, which was diagnosed as typhoid by the first doctor. A couple days and few tests later, it was stage 4 cancer. Bone marrow, lungs, heart, it was everywhere. He fought for 2 months and just like that before we even graduated, he was no more. RIP my friend, my brother, Azhar. You are in a better place.

"Somebody should be upset!". Yes, somebody should be upset, but the patient's doctor shouldn't be upset in this way, because a patient first needs the truth. The doctor cannot be her friend INSTEAD of telling her the truth. She's not helping her by giving her false hope or by not telling her anything. Sooner or later she will find out anyway. To tell her that she's going to die is horrible, but it doesn't mean that you don't care.

This episode has more "meaning" if you remember House was treating a death row patient over her case... That adds to why Cameron was so frustrated that House wasn't giving any care to her patient... but overall... Cameron is the goody goody person that simply annoys the crap out of me... in a respectful way

Now you sound like Foreman :D. And we ignore "all those other pheo sufferers who managed to control their rage attacks to become lawyers, racecar drivers, and doctors. Removing the pheo removes the random shots of adrenaline, it doesn't absolve him" I view the title of the episode "Acceptance" as coming into acceptance of who someone is/going to be.... Stacey will be working in the hospital in close proximity to House even if she's with Mark, Cameron's patient is dying, and Clarence killed for who he is... not for other excuses.
@sarizonana
@sarizonana 6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Yu i never thought about the meaning of the episode title before but it’s a great interpretation. Everyone accepting something about themselves or their fate. Now The Tumor might not absolve him but it influenced his behavior, Clarence said earlier that he used to take care of his broken that he wasn’t always a murderer what if they found about that thing before and he would go back to be a good guy. House did believe in helping people to not be miserable if he could fix it like in the episode the social contract where they did ask him to be operated so he could stop being an ass or ignorance is bliss accepted the Guy to stay dumb so he could be happy. House did want to cure people so they could be happy. In half wit he took one hemisphere of Patrick’s Brain to give him independence. So it’s not that wrong Foreman’s point of view in this episode. Actually it’s quite weird House wasn’t moved by Clearance in this episodes because he had been in others by similar patients.

I meant it in terms of a doctor. But actually thinking of it, those types prob do annoy me too in real life... simply cause in most cases, it's fake/bs. The reason Cameron annoys me as a doctor is because she is the typical pre-med student... they have the notion of wanting to help people and connect with them so much that they become their friends instead of of their doctors. In M1 of med school, our ethics courses plant the idea that we are their doctors not friends. In this case, even Wilson, who is the "ethically proper" doctor berates Cameron for how she acted.
@TheJuxtaposer
@TheJuxtaposer 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t particularly care for Cameron, but you have to respect that level of compassion and sacrifice... yeah the easy thing to do would be to not get attached, like Wilson said, but the brave thing to do is to care. So many people these days are cowards who refuse to care about anything because they think it makes them “rational”, but really they’re too scared to get invested in something or someone.
