Character building is pointless drivel to you?

@@CrystalBearer20 there was no character building really for Rutherford and Boimler. We already knew a lot about Tindi's background. Mariner didn't grow at all. So I don't know what you were watching. But I didn't see very much character building. It was just drivel.

Yes, by putting down anything new as dumb, inferior and not "real" Star Trek, you have proven your True Fan credentials by gatekeeping the franchise. Do you feel superior now?

@antonbrakhage490 you mischaracterized my comments. Every new iteration of Star Trek, I want to like it. However, I am seeing a very watered down version of Trek to even bad Trek. That is my opinion. The only thing I can say has been good Trek is Picard season 3, with Prodigy even being great. So I don't find all New Trek the way you claim I do. But I will call out what I think. You can like the rest of it. I am not going to attempt to stop you. In fact I am envious that you do like it because I want to like it. But telling me that I am bad for not liking what you like IS gatekeeping. You are doing exactly what you are accusing me of. Just because we have differing opinions do not make me bad, nor does it make you bad. In fact, this discussion illustrates one of the big problems with modern Trek. Modern Trek tells you what is right. Classic Trek brought discussion, demonstrating the differing sides intelligently and showing the merits of each side and let the audience decide for themselves. That's good writing. That is not most modern Trek.
