DC Young Fly made headlines recently because he blocked a Go Fund Me campaign set up by the family of his late girlfriend Ms. Jack Oh. They claim they were taking donations so they could save the home that she was living in at the time of her death from being foreclosed on, but DC didn't agree with it and had it taken down. There is a lesson in this unfortunate situation for all men and what's crazy is that I never hear men talk about it. Let's get into it.

I am bearing witness to a similar situation right now. They were together for a decade, were engaged and he died out of the blue at 48 years old. She had quit her job to work on a non-profit that they started together and they lived together. Unfortunately, since they weren't married, HIS FAMILY IS KEEPING ALL THE LIFE INSURANCE MONEY and leaving this woman jobless and homeless. THEY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MARRIED!!!

my parents were married 50 years before my mom passed and he had life insurance polices on her and all my siblings that passed before me get life insurance go fund me isn't life insurance you can't count on strangers to pay to bury your loved ones

My mom had a friend in this situation. She was dating this man who had a mega million trucking company. They dated for 18 YEARS! 18 YEARS! He begged her to marry him and she wouldn’t because she didn’t want anyone thinking she was a gold digger 🤦🏽‍♀️. While he was here, she wanted for nothing. Stayed getting hair and nails done, trips and all bills paid. On his death bed, he tried to marry her again so he could sign over his businesses to her but he died before they could do that. His kids he had with a previous woman came in and left this woman in the dust. She’s in her 70s now and doing bad. Looks bad and just struggling. She didn’t have to work when he was alive and now she really can’t work. I hate even seeing her around because I’m not use to seeing this once glamorous woman looking so broken and poor. Marry ladies. Especially when you have a man begging you for it

A friend's ex-wife had grandparents that married when they were in their late 70's and 80's. When asked why, he said, "I never needed a ring or piece of paper to prove she was my wife." They had 18 kids together. When he was old and facing his mortality, he married her. He said he wanted his retirement and pension, house, etc, to go to her. He said, "I've taken care of her all these years. Why would I leave my kids to take care of her now? I allowed her to be a housewife. That's my responsibility." If it was just a piece of paper, he wouldn't have done that.

@@themondoshow While they weren't physical written contracts, covenants were customary. People would pledge oaths and make agreements, just like Jacob and Laban did in the book of Genesis. Their covenant was intended to be unbreakable. The book of Ruth is very special to me, as it holds another vow and promise-this time between a husband and wife, united as one. There are numerous occasions in the Bible where covenants were used. Nowadays, while we use physical contracts, marriage still stands as a covenant (a vow) that should be valued and upheld, just as God intended. Marriage is real and precious. It's a wonderful gift from the Lord and should be treated with respect and honor. 🙏🏾🌷✝️

I've seen other challenging situations when people separate without getting divorced and officials call on the estranged spouse whom they haven't spoken to in years to make a crucial sometimes life altering decision. First spouse, then adult children, then parents, then siblings then other family. We all need to think about who you want making decisions on your behalf

😂😂😂 My friends aunt never divorced her husband because it was cheaper to keep her. He had a business, home, savings, etc. They had 2 kids, but he didn't want to pay alimony and child support. They were just estranged and doing their own thing for 30 something years. He had a girlfriend that he allowed to just live off him and not work. MAN! When he died! When he died! The estranged wife cleaned up! The kids got what they got and told the girlfriend, "You are not our mom. You are not our responsibility. You haven't worked. In 15 years, you just lived off of our dad, knowing he had congestive heart failure. We are not accountable for you. We are not taking care of you." They put her out the house and gave her NOTHING.

I took care of my grand mother for the last few years of her life. No one really helped me. They didn’t care if she went to a nursing home but I did. She passed away and left behind money. I tell people all the time if you're shacking the hospital and funeral home don't consider common law as next of kin. I have a friend that owns a funeral home and she said she can always tell when a fight is about to break out and she goes to her office and locks the door. She said gofundme has made things worse.

I don’t understand why people are so against marriage. It’s much more important than just having a piece of paper. But on the flip side, it’s also important to get a divorce when you break up! I’ve had two situations in my family where the man didn’t divorce their wife and when they passed away the wives did whatever they wanted to do, with no consideration for the family or the new gf!!! I dont know these people personally. Im just an outside observer of them from TV and social media. My opinion is he never really was in loved with her or treated her right. If you looked at her social media posts she adored him but he acted liked he could give a heck about her and was always either clowning her or talking out the side of his mouth to her. I think he got off being with her for eye candy for him but as far as being in love with her, no he seemed not to be which is ashamed because she appeared to be a sweatheart and in love with him.

This is why I laugh at people that say marriage is just a piece of paper.. only your wife or husband has medical say over you … they don’t care if you’ve been boyfriend gf for 25 years .. BUT the only way around this is putting your partner down as your MEDICAL POWER OF ATTORNEY. You have to fill out a form and have a notary stamp it. I was my mom’s. They’ll do it in the hospital and use random people as witnesses if needed

I’m sorry but I think the focus is on the wrong thing here. DC has his kids and is providing for them. If this house is saved it will be at least 10-15years before the kids could even take possession of it. If the house is something that he wanted to keep for his kids, I’m pretty sure that he would pay for it, and that he and the children would then be living there. This sounds like the sister is asking for Jackie’s fans to donate their hard earned money to pay for her to live in a mansion for free. Simply because she can’t afford it. If the children don’t currently live there, then yes the go-fund-me is very misleading. Her father would be her next of kin, and seemed to be a reasonable man. He never spoke I’ll of DC, and DC has never spoke I’ll of him. So really there is no reason to assume that there’s any type of problem between them. The sister was using his kids for a come up, rather they were married or not that is just wrong.

Going through this right now My dad was married 50 years to my mom that passed away a month ago this year she had a will and life insurance my mom was on life support for 6 weeks now 10 months prior my sister passed away Please get life insurance all my siblings that passed had life insurance including myself and my mom and my dad it's just me and my dad now there's a new term Right to survivorship which mean if your the suvivor spouse you have rights to whatever the person had in their life in my mom's case she had the title to the car that my late sister had and me and my dad had to go to the DMV with the death certificate to have the title changed over if you have joint bank accounts it also applies the right to survivorship which also gets you the right to take their name off the account and have it solely in your name my mom was 77 she went first my dad is a year younger Oh btw the death benefit is only 255 dollars luckliy my dad had life insurance as well

Sometimes the next of kin family of the woman could be abusive and forcibly take the kids away from you if you and her aren't married. AND they could take all the property, assets, hard work away just for themselves and abuse the kids and you can't do anything because you didn't marry.

I feel sorry for the children. DC could have bought a home by now for his children and partner. Jackie really tried , but how he treated her was horrible. I believe protections could have been put in place for their children through attorneys and mediation years prior, but unfortunately that never happened and now the only home the children know could be taken away.

This is a very good topic that you seldom hear being talked about. Being in relationships without marriage has its drawbacks, especially financially if something happens to one of the partners. There are laws and tax benefits to marriage and its more than it being about a piece of paper. Unfortunately people don't realize that until a situation comes up. In marriage property rights default to the spouse. In not, next of kin even if that other significant partner has been with that partner for years. Please have in place for each of you a will, trust, powers of attorneys for property and health care, and insurance policies with designated beneficiaries and any investments designated to your beneficiary should be named. Another thing if you have minor children you may want to do a designation of guardianship to appoint someone to take care of your children if you are incapable or no longer around long-term. Again, if married it defaults to the other spouse, but if shacking, the courts may have to decide. Family, do it right and righteously the way God ordained. He is not the author of confusion.

Word of advice, you can put POD in your accounts, payable on death, and the money goes tho whoever you designate. You can also have a medical power of attorney, have a Will or and estate created. Do your research

So here's a pro tip. It's called advanced directives. You can download the paperwork and fill it out with your partner and have it notarized. If you're that hard pressed to not get married. But it's just regarding her wishes in the care of her health if she can't make decisions for herself. And vice versa.

You're entitled to want what you want sis. Who am I to tell you that your standards are too high! Just understand that in this messy world virgin men in their 20s and 30s are rare. However God is ultimately in control and by you making an attempt to do it his way you will be blessed. I say keep your faith in him and if it's his will you will get what you want. Also keep in mind that a virgin man will more than likely be at church not the club.

It’s not just marriage that is important but it’s life after death planning that is important. There are so many legal documents that could have been put in place prior to her death so that her next of kin wouldn’t have much control.

Especially important for the hobosexuals that enjoy living in their girlfriend's house. I know one who had been with his girlfriend for 20+ years (living together for about 10). She died from cancer and he had to vacate the home (they were nice enough to let him stay there 3 months while the house was in probate) and her family gave her convertible to the nephew. He stays with his sister now while he is going through health issues himself. They had no kids together so everything went to her "next of kin" relatives.

It's nearest living relative, so parents or adult children, then siblings, then whomever is closest after that--unless there is someone who has been legally assigned that responsibility by the patient.

If she has assets and doesn't have a will or trust, that man can take everything. Women get life insurance, a trust, a will, and a living will and/or directives to physicians. If the fam wants to raise money to keep the house then they can. Its not his. He has no legal claim to anything. This is not about your feelings. Marry before you PLANT or CARRY! My wife and I talk about it all the time. My father passed and was still married to his ex wife. She was not hostile so when it came to his wishes she relinquished control to us. She wanted nothing. The sister could live there and it could be some sort of a memorial for their mother when the children visit. Even if you don't get married get a Cohabitation agreement. If you're protective of your assets, pre or post nupts exist. There's no excuse. THE MINUTE you move in together, discuss the cohab. THE MOMENT you find out you're pregnant, execute the legal agreement and life insurance policy. People be messing up things for their offspring being negligent.

From a legal background, her next of kin are her children (as legally defined and applies to all states). Since they are minors the surviving parent is their guardian (her family can still fight to become guardians so they can control the assets or be guardians of the assets). In this situation, kinship goes from kids to parents to siblings and downwards (skips depending on if ‘predeceased’’ applies). Her parents will probably be administrators of her estate or her life partner can petition for the position (this can create family tension). A will or trust or domestic partnership agreement (allowed in select states) is best and marriage is preferred. There are caveats and nuances to probate, estate laws (can be married but the will does not include many assets to a spouse, etc.) I whole heartedly agree with your statement that estate planning is not discussed by both men and women, whether married or in a relationship.

Pulling the plug can be done PERIOD. You best to have DNRs (do not resuscitate orders) in place of do not resuscitate situations. But I thought people knew that when you are not married you can not do things together and expect it to be respected without proper documentation first and being married. Unless the law respects common law over contract law.
