By storing foods in the freezer, you can prevent them from going bad and wasting money. Here are some great tips for freezer banking:
1. Freeze meals in batches: When cooking dinner, make extra and freeze the leftovers in single-serving containers. This way, you'll have a quick and easy meal for busy weeknights.
2. Freeze fruit: When fruit is in season and on sale, stock up and freeze it for later use. You can use it in smoothies, oatmeal or even as a snack.
3. Freeze vegetables: Same as fruit, when vegetables are in season, buy them in bulk and freeze them for later. This way, you'll have a readily available source of veggies for your meals.
4. Freeze bread: If you see discounted bread or have too much at home, freeze it for later use. You can defrost it when needed and it will taste just as fresh.
5. Wrap foods properly: When freezing foods, make sure to wrap them properly to prevent freezer burn. Use freezer-friendly bags or containers and remove as much air as possible before freezing.
6. Label and date: Make sure to label and date all foods you put in the freezer to avoid confusion and waste. This way, you'll know exactly when it was frozen and how long it's been in the freezer.
By freezer banking, you can save money and reduce food waste while still having delicious meals.

My Mother cooked breakfast everyday for 40 years for 8 people. Never complained. With that, ran the house and shopping. The only time she didn’t make breakfast was when I got older and I could help or we surprised her. She did everything, everything. That was her job. It’s what Mothers did back in the day. She was a wonderful Mother

My mother did the same thing but for a family of 3 girls. Plus she worked a full time job. My mom never had any time to rest. When I got older, I would surprise her with a clean house and dinner on the table when she came home from work. I really miss that smile she always had on her face. She never complained.

I started "freezer banking" about 25 yrs. ago, and didn't know what it was called. For me, it was just practical once my kids became teens. We weren't all together at the table anymore because they got pt jobs etc. I started out making tons of big bean burritos, flash freezing, then throwing into ziplocks for after school snacks. Then, it rolled into taking one week and making massive batches of 5 or 6 kinds of meals. Portion them out in the rubbermaid sandwich size containers, label, and throw 'em in the upright freezer. That way, I don't have to cook every night. I try to make enough to last 5-6 weeks before I have to do it again. When the grandkids were young and over pretty often, I would make a ton of Belgian waffles, and throw them in the freezer. Pop them in the toaster, and, voila! Sorry, I always comment tooooo long!

I do that. Becky @Acre Homestead does it all the time. She does up dozens of different freezer meals at one time. Its like a whole day worth of preparing freezer meals. She does breakfast, lunch and dinner stuff. Plus cookie dough. Freezer meals prepared ahead of time are awesome, especially when your short on time. I havent tried freezing French toast though. I like butter and strawberry jam on mine.

If you don't have a big fancy griddle you can put your bread on a greased cookie sheet and bake your French toast in the oven until it is halfway done then pull it out and flip over each piece repeating the process. Add your choice of sweetener just before heating in the toaster oven.

I recently started doing this also. For the last year I have been baking our bread. When it has been in the fridge for a few days I will cut it thick like Texas toast, and then into sticks, dip as you do, cook on all four sides sprinkling with cinnamon sugar as it cooks, cool and freeze. A few moments in the microwave and served with a shot glass of syrup for dipping and I have happy kids! Good for an after school snack too!!!

Love this idea! Another little tip... you can also cook up a bunch on cookie sheets in the oven @425 F. Line the sheet with parchment paper or just use a little cooking spray/oil/bacon fat, then flip them over after about 10 minutes on a side (or until nicely browned). I do that if I'm making a batch for the whole family. It's much easier than doing a 2-3 at a time on a small griddle. I usually like mine with butter & maple syrup, but I have also been known to put butter and raspberry or strawberry jam on 'em, too! ;)

I had to laugh when you said vacuum seal them? No! A couple of years ago my daughter and I were packing up home made goodies to send to my son for Christmas. All he really wanted was chocolate chip cookies and banana bread. It was getting really late and we were both tired but wanted to get his package in the mail. We decided to vacuum seal all of the treats hoping they would go through the mail okay. We were almost done with only banana bread left to do. We started the vacuum sealer and the bread started to squish down to an awful mess. We were both laughing so hard we couldn't get the sealer stopped before we had a big blob of banana bread. We laughed until we almost cried. Needless to say I made more bread the next day and.packaged it differently and got it in the mail on time.

When I was a kid my grandfather did this all the time while I was in school. I was able to snag a few slices, pop them in the toaster, get ready for school and then head out with a hot breakfast. Kept doing that for my ex-gf's kids and added frozen "egg mcmufins" to the mix. Used to put wax paper squares between them to make them easier to separate.

I freezer bank breakfasts all the time. I am sloooow to wake up and get going with my day until I have had plenty of coffee. And I dislike cooking breakfast. This idea is great for pancakes too. I always pre-fry sausage links and patties, breakfast muffins, breakfast burritos, etc. Flash freeze them and then bag up and they won’t get all stuck together. Great for the grandkids when they visit or when we go camping. Quick and easy!

@@sandrahudziec723 I am sorry to the person on youtube that I got this recipe from, because I do not remember her name. But here it is: 12 cups All purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 2 cups Dried milk powder, 2 tablespoons Baking Soda, 5 tablespoons Baking Powder, 1 tablespoon salt. mix this really well and I just put it in 1/2 gallon jars, I do not seal them as my grand kids can really go through these pancakes. You could seal them if you want. Here is the recipe for a batch of pancakes: 3 cups of mix, 3 cups of water (give or take depending on how thick or thin you want your pancakes) & 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix well and you know the rest. I make the little dollar pancakes for my kids and what is left over I freeze. I do place a piece of wax paper between each pancake, it makes it much easier to separate and just place them on a plate and I can cook 4-5 pancakes for 1 minute in the microwave. Time depends on your microwave. I was wanting a recipe that if I did not have milk or eggs and this fits the need. Hope you enjoy!

Every time I try to freezer bank french toast, I put it into the refrigerator to cool before the freezer and end up snacking on them (cold) until there isn't any to put in the freezer!🤣 I work with a lady who is always saying she can't afford to eat healthy and rolls her eyes at me when I talk about paying for healthier foods. While she eats out of the vending machine, buys "Uncrustables" and has a drawer full of Little Debbie's snacks. I don't try to explain anymore.

I use to do this for my kids with pancakes back in the day. I never thought of freezing french toast. Dang. If I just had freezer space.

I wanted to say not only using low carb bread if you don't make homemade, but using heavy cream or half and half instead of regular milk is great too. Low carb . There are so many good recipies that with your skills would be fun to tryout

Instead of using the more expensive quart freezer bags, I put the individual size portions in sandwich bags and then place those portions inside one big gallon size freezer bag.

My answer is that I like fresh fruit or homemade jam on my french toast. Pretty much anytime I bake, I make a double batch and freeze half of it. Really I'm only limited by the size of my freezer (we rent & only have freezer on top of the fridge). Waffles made at home and frozen are cheaper, tastier, and just all around better than store bought, cook them up light, and then heat from frozen in the toaster. I like to freeze baked cookies or balls of cookie dough (bake from frozen & just add a few minutes to the time). Homemade bread usually is a double loaf recipe, we eat one and slice the other one before putting it in the freezer.

I recently found out I'm kind of weird when I make french toast. I don't use milk, I only use eggs, and I don't use vanilla extract, I use almond extract. Very good french toast in my opinion. As for toppings, I usually use pure maple syrup, but during times I may not have it, I've used local honey, jams, or jellies. I've also mixed any of those things with cream cheese (usually when I feel like flattening and rolling it like when you make pinwheels). I've made french toast and toaster sized pancakes for the freezer, so anyone with a busy schedule could have a homemade meal on the run. 😁❤️

My uncle hated eggs, but loved French toast. He apparently didn't know how it was made. So in order to get more egg into him, my grandmother always made her French toast without milk. We still make it this way.
