We need to check over the Vauxhall Astra as we are going on a long journey but we come up against a few problems. There is an O2 sensor that is playing up, we also have 2 bald front tyres that will need our attention and let's see how the day pans out.

Best thing to do removing old o2 sensors is cut the wire off and use a normal socket or ring spanner, those slotted sockets always open up

Nope, you won't find me putting used tyres on my car. You don't know how many kerbs they've been bounced over by the previous owner. Compromised side walls, run at the wrong pressure etc, they're what keep you on the road and alive. Just bite the bullet and put decent rubber on the motor.

I only pay £25 for front wheel alignment at my local tyre place. Better to support the small guys. When I had my Astra, I had to wedge the exhust pipe (I had no vice at the time) and use a stilson wrench to get the O2 sensor off.

Good video Martin I have been watching your channels for a couple of months now and really enjoy the st220 jobs and the mk4 astra jobs very soon im going to be doing a lot of work to my st220 and going to be giving her a full respray ill tell you what im going to do to it 1. Going to be taking the engine out and putting another 3.0 v6 in it take everything out the engine bay and getting all the surface rust out and make it brand new again 2. Put everything back in the engine bay and put the clutch from the old engine onto the new one and that's the engine bay done 3. Going to strip the whole car on the exterior going to respray the outside and get all the scratches out of the car and make it brand new again 4 Sort out the rust that's on my arches weld them out and get 2 new rear arches for it. 5. Taking everything from out under the car and taking all the old corroded parts and treat the rust underneath I would vactan it because i have been watching james from the savage garage using it to repair the rust on his st diesel. 6. Would get 4 new coil springs for it and struts dont need new brakes because i put new brakes on it last month and would also treat the rust underneath the wheel arches and vactan the whole rust so it turns black and never to be seen again 7. Sandblasting and powdercoating the front and rear subframes to get the rust off them as well. 8. Put 4 new wheel barings on it and 4 brand new shocks. 9. Put a milltek exhaust for it same as yours because i would call mine Mr milltek 10. Respray my front bumper because its got a big massive scrape all the way underneath the driver side fog light 11. Put 2 new catalytic convertors on 12. 2 brand new silver headlights for it 13. Put a new pollun filter air fuel filter and that's the service. 14. Get a fancy spoiler for it to make it look sporty 15. Put new windscreen wipers on it. 16. Get some fancy gel plates for it to make it look very cool 😎 . 17. Respray the bonnet lid to get the rust off that. 18. Get a new key like yours Martin. 19. Get 2 new rear side doors because mine are corroded. 20. Get some racing calipers 21. Get a new starter motor for it. 22. Put everything back together and get the st ready for its mot road tax it insure it then get it ready for the mot and then if it passes the mondeo st220 is all finished and then be taking to the scottish performance show and then take a holiday with my dad and we would take the st on a ferry and take it to another country and then drive it and it will put a smile on my face and because i love my st220 and it will look amazing like it did when it came out on the 20th July 2006 and its my dream thing

Ive a zafira A 1.6 the exhaust looks the same as yours. I had to drop the front part and use Stiltsens on the 02 sensor when the exhaust rotted out. Funnily enough,my engine light came on last year saying it was the 02 sensor on a trip to Blackpool. I always carry my little OBD2 so I reset it. It's never came back on. This was a few weeks in to changing over to E10 fuel. I don't know if it had anything to do with it, but.....

yep, test the heater element in the sensor with a DMM after good visual of wiring & connector and if sensor element tests bad chop it and get a ring spanner or socket on it . Most times heater circuit codes be burnt out sensor element but bad wiring pretty close second common failure. about only sensor sockets that don't spread are snapon but even then due to space constraints and not wanting risk escalate job cost in moving things for access we chop sensor for wrench or socket on a flexi ratchet, most times extending handle ones like facom or high-five produce as got give it some mother lover cussing and grunting get um start turning . (premier brand do a nice high-five one sensible coin on eBay)

@@retrorestore hope it helps, extending handle flexi 3/8 ratchet of decent quality is game changer in getting job jobbed in tighter spaces as can angle it about and tweak length as long as you can get away with . Man used tyres at £30 each, I remember paying £8 a tyre for cheap brand names used and 10 to 12 for good named brands and that fitted/balanced with old valve stem and grubby prints all over your wheel lol .Even on marketplace it hard find decent matching used tyres cheap, sometimes get good buy on complete set with rims . You older than me so can probally remember it in shillings and pence lol . You lucky have old school scrappers near you, miss the days of a scrapyard saturday part hunt lol .
