I always crack up when I hear this song. When this song came out, a buddy of mine had a dog that would scoot across the floor on its bottom. I guess it was itching. Any ways, he was doing this when the song came on the radio, and The Butt Skootin' Boogie was born.

Bartels and James was a wine cooler drink. That was popular in the 80's and featured two old men on the porch relaxing and drinking in rocking chairs.

This is such a hilarious film and I'm glad you enjoyed it. "Encino Man" would be a good one to watch and it's very funny. That guy that Amber remembered from the film was Brendan Fraser and it also co-starred Sean Astin from "Goonies" which you already reacted to. Another Thanksgiving themed movie I hope you react to is "Planes, Tranes and Automobiles" with Steve Martin and John Candy. It is a highly enjoyable, poignant and very funny film I think you would both enjoy and Martin and Candy have terrific chemistry together. You also mentioned having seen the actor and actress before who played the dad and mom in "Son-In-Law". The actor played a public defender that Joe Pesci fired in "My Cousin Vinny" which you already reacted to and the actress who played the mom actually played Ferris Bueller's mom in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" which you also reacted to.

Biodome is silly but one of my favorites as far as Pauly Shore movies go. I think Son in Law is probably his most accessible movie though. Jury Duty and In the Army Now are guilty pleasures. He had a side role in Class Act with Kid n Play. He basically peaked in the early to mid 90s. So that whole time frame .

Tracy in this is played by Tiffanee Amber Theisen who played Kelly on Saved by the Bell. Pappy was called Bartles because in the 80 and 90's wine coolers were famous and they were made by Bartles and James elderly men. Jay I can see Kyia bringing home someone your really gonna love. This was honestly one of my top 5 movies growing up. I never get tired of it. I lived in TN surrounded by farms and later moved to Los Angeles as a teen. It was so different and a huge shock, but I’m in love with CA now.

The mom from this was also the mom in Ferris Buehler. At the end, it was sweet Jay was agreeing with Amber and he referred to her as "your mother" like he was talking to the kids.

This is a favorite of mine. Btw, the dad was the lawyer in My Cousin Vinny. And the guy with the frog was Link in Encino Man. Brendan Fraser. You should check out The Mummy, if you haven’t already. A favorite of mine with him is Blast From the Past. Also, the tattoo artist is Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Just a superior movie. 💜💜💜

Grandpa was the narrator for Smuckers Jelly and Jam. Pauly filmed a movie called The Curse of Inferno in and around my small Texas town in the late 90s. It bombed, but everyone has said he was incredibly nice and funny during filming.

That guy from Encino Man is Brendon Frazier, from The Mummy, George of the Jungle, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and my personal favorite, Blast from the Past. Now that one has some culture shock. A husband and pregnant wife lock themselves in their underground shelter because they thought we’d be hit by nuclear weapons. Anyway, mom gives birth back in the 60’s and the kids never met another human being. He has to leave the shelter to get supplies. It’s such a great wholesome film.

Oh wow. A movie I have actually never seen. I worked at a movie theater when this was out and I remember the poster had a picture of farm animals next to Paulie Shore. Under each animal it said “cow, pig, chicken, etc” but under Paulie it said “Weasel.” I had no idea who he was or why they called him “the weasel” until I saw his cameo on Futurama. Encino Man is actually a modern classic. You should add it to your list.

This movie isn't for everyone, but I LOVE it!! I've seen it more times than I can count. Glad you enjoyed it. There used to be old Bartles and Jaymes wine cooler commercials in the 80s and there were two older men in the commercials so I think he just assumed he was one of the guys. lol

The wine coolers was in reference to old Bartles & James wine coolers commercials. They used to use 2 old men and at the end they would always say "Thank you for your support"

Guys, if you want something lighthearted and comedic try out Spaceballs (1987). Also, The Wiz (1978), starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, is a great fantastic Musical/Fantasy film.

I saw this during a movie night in university. That is typical move in day at a college or university. None of my RAs were like that. I suggest Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure for you next light and funny movie! It gives a whole new twist to a history project. In the 70’s the rating PG-13 didn’t exist it would have had an R rating for Saturday Night Fever.

J and Amber, I can tell you personally that Pauly is really like that. When I lived in LA, I knew him. We weren’t close friends, we were more, acquaintances. I would let him in the Tropicana for free and he would let me in his mom’s Comedy Store. That where all the comedians go to get famous. His mom, Mitzi, has help launch more careers than imaginable. I saw the Wayan brothers, Sam Kinison, Louis Anderson, Sinbad, etc…I also saw my absolute favorite comedian. The responsible for creating the second most comedians because he wrote their material, Paul Mooney. Pauly is a pretty nice guy. At least, he was with me. This was from 89-92

For Christmas, you absolutely must do a reaction to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. A timeless classic starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. For context, you should react to the other two that came before as the running gag is that the actors that play the two kids have been changed out each movie. As well as A Christmas Story, which will be getting a sequel on Netflix this week starring Peter Billingsley (a child actor when he filmed A Christmas Story).

One of my late dad's friends grew up 3 houses down from the house shown in A Christmas Story in Cleveland. He moved before it was filmed, though. Now you can tour it btw. I took my daughter there a few years ago and she loved it. Tons of neat behind the scenes info given. The skyscraper shown at the beginning is the Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland.

Pauly Shore's mom Mitzi owned one of the big stand up comedy clubs in LA so he grew up around the biggest stand up comedians of the LA comedy scene. TV writers at the time were famous for stealing bits and jokes from the comics and putting them in their shows. If you like Carla Gugino, she was great as the TV version of J Lo's character in "Out of Sight" which is secretly part of the Quentin Tarentino universe.

Here are a few more excellent Tom Hanks movies I hope you add to the list; Castaway (drama/survival with the usual Hanks comedy), League of their Own (sports/comedy), Catch Me if You Can (based on a true story which takes place in the 1960's), Big (younger Hanks, excellent fun) and Sleepless in Seattle (Rom/Com). All very entertaining and great Tom Hanks vehicles which mean that they're good movies. 💟

The title of that song is called “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” Original done by famous country duo Brooks And Dunn and no it’s not Garth Brooks!!! The lead singer is called Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn doing back up vocals but Ronnie does the lead on at least one song!

It’s so much fun watching y’all enjoy these classics! I don’t get to watch movies with family much anymore so it always feels like I’m watching it with you. And yes, for sure Encino Man!! I loved Brendon Fraser in it too. There’s another that has this kind of corny humor (it’s really funny!) with Brendon Fraser that’s really good - Blast From the Past. It has a great cast with Fraser and Alicia Silverstone, Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken. Has a good soundtrack too with tons of Tony Bennett and Sinatra, the Big Band era sound and some amazing dancing too! ♥️♥️♥️

Many moons ago, Pauly Shore came to the only and ever comedy club that was briefly open in my hometown during the cusp of the 2010s. It was one of those places that has been many different bars and resturants and cafes over time but for a brief moment it was a comedy club. I was not able to score a ticket. Many of my friends were able to score tickets. I remember driving by and people were standing outside the open doors listening to his set. 'Son in Law' is definately a favorite. 26:35 is a treasure, esp from someone who lives where you are sometimes stuck on the road behind $200k+machines like this.
