Awesome song. Sad backstory... but glad to hear the suicide was fictitious! BTW, I remember it being odd that at the same time The Verve Pipe was a 'popular/new' band from the U.S.A., there existed another similarly named 'popular/new' band called The Verve (from the U.K.). FYI: the Verve's biggest song was 'Bittersweet Symphony'. Kinda confusing to a lot of folks, I seem to recall. And also, what are the odds of that happening? Two bands with similar sounding names becoming fairly popular simultaneously... the odds seem slim (mainly because, IMHO, the word 'verve' is not what I would consider a 'commonly used word'). Anyway, thanks Songfacts. You guys are way underrated!
