Youth has a way of not letting you know the consequences of your actions. You understand the discipline you receive from it, but not the consequences. Now I'm older I'm paying for the mistakes, that I was already punished for. It's hard.

If the road to truth is a cul de sac, can we just call it Benjamin Todd Court? That second verse about Nicolas, and BT saying it could have been him brings me back to the Using Again video and seeing how far he’s come. He looks healthy now, strong and I’m sure Nicolas suicide was a big wake up call for him. This man is just in a whole different stratosphere.

I was hoping you'd get to this one pretty quickly, thanks! You said it though... this is one of, if not his best, song yet. It will take me about a month to process as well, lol, but we'll come out better men at the end for it! This one really resonates with me; I have always felt like I took all my brother's pain to carry on myself after he passed, and that I have to live my own life fully enough for the both of us now. When you think no one else in the world could understand the sadness that lives in your heart, well let me tell you there's a Benjamin Tod song just waiting to find you. Burt, if you see this, after a few days to soak it in, it is still a top tier song amongst a man's catalogue that has never missed for me, but his 2017 song "I Will Never Be Around" is still my favorite

If you want a artist that you havent reacted to yet, Dean Johnson has a few videos out there that are awesome. Such as "shouldnt say mine", his live version of far away skies with the desolondes, and his western AF video are all great. His band, The Sons of Rainier, has a great album too.

Each one of his songs--I feel--is another scar borne from the healing as he rises from the ashes of his choices and their unimaginable ramifications. It is a grit-filled beauty he brings that rings with the hardest of lessons learned and the sweat-stained appreciation that only comes from grabbing hold of hope while covered in the dirt and tears of a life that took him to his lowest, but one that he somehow didn't let consume him. And he's sharing these diamonds in the rough with us now, and I am thankful to have ears that can take in those sonic drams. Thank you also for sharing your thoughts on his tunes. Shalom!
