We’re all just needing an escape. Whether it’s the woods, the lake, the mountains, or hell, even just being wherever you find your own peace. You only get one go around…make it worthwhile.

First, I'm so grateful I stumbled upon your channel Burt. You've introduced me to some fantastic artists that I just can't get enough of right now. Second... this song perfectly descibes our culture right now. My take back on this song is it eludes to the pull of social media on society giving us this false standard of happiness. He mentions everyone is a god damn genius and speaks of an ego filled late night crowd. My opinion is that these people are a product of social media. I, myself, a victim of it too. We scroll through everyone's happy photos, and constantly subconsciously comparing our lives with others. It gives us a false sense of what happiness is. It causes us to set the bar high of what we deem as success and happiness. This bar is impossible to reach because it's false. It's impossible to be this perfect image we all portray on social media. It leaves us constantly longing and searching for more... and we don't even know what the "more" is. We just keep scrolling.... I get this perception in his lyric that he sees God in almost everything, but why does he still long for home? And then he explains he wants a couple of acres and a well trained dog... he's a simple man and wants to slow down. He wants to enjoy the little things. This goes hand in hand with the big push into homesteading that we are seeing right now. And the trend with people getting back to nature too. And that's exactly how I am trying to live a better life. Just slowing down, observing nature, enjoying, and being grateful of the little things. ✌️
