Fun Fact: The day Sonic Chaos, Sonic SpinBall, and Sonic CD all released together in the US (November 23rd 1993) was actually called "Sonic MANIA Day" in promotional material. This was a really fun topic. Honestly, I didn't expect Sonic games released on the same day to be put into a full video on this channel. Great work as always SF!! 👍

@@SonicTheBlueBlur15 yeah, 06 team was split with no time extension given because they realized the Wii wouldn't be able to handle the game. Because of this, Secret Rings released later simply because it's development started later

It certainly contributed, but it is likely 06 would have been a bust anyways. It needed more time first of all, any manpower in the world could not have finished the game when they were that much behind.

I remember a Sonic panel during 2017 that recapped all the game releases at the time, and when they got to 2006, they made it seem like they were gonna mention 06 only to show Sonic Rivals since they both released a few days apart

@@jaycerrito3142 It was never mentioned or used like most of the 2000 - 2006 ideas. The reason is that the only game from that point on that actually cared about continuity(at least before Frontiers) was Chronicles...and we all know how that game was sent to the Shadow Realm.

Another dual release was Sonic Heroes and Sonic Battle, which both released in early 2004. Honestly, its a alright dual release, because both games are middle of the road, due to the same problem, that being being overblown.

I'm going to be completely honest Sonic boom rise of lyric is a Good game. It's just that most people didn't have a Wii u and weren't able to try it and were just saying what everyone else said. I know that the game had a lot of bugs but a lot of them have been patched. And the story is actually pretty interesting imo

Some years ago I got a used copy of that game and a Wii U console to play it on and whenever I've tried to play it I haven't encountered any of the major glitches that soo many people have been complaining online about. So I got confused when I started to hear all these people talking about how unpolished they think that that game is. The only thing that bothers me a big amount about that game is how much of a selfish and rude jerk they made Shadow be acting as in it, and the fact that they didn't even try to let him get any character developement in the TV series to make him become a better and more interesting character like he originally was.

i think sonic 1 gba isnt that bad. i like the music, and they're new remixes, instead of ripping the OG music and hastily slapping it on. the fanmade port sadly does that last part.

I like it, but only for ironic cr*ppiness reasons. It isn't the worst, but it is the least good. It is just good enough to not be a disaster, but it genuinely adds nothing to the series it is a part of. Well, besides fodder for the trolls that believe that Sonic can only ever be a buggy mess, because its collission and geometry is just broken in weird ways(There are literally certain terrainblocks that instakill you for no clear reason, presumably a crushdeath despite Sonic not even clipping into it).

Sonic was actually planned for the multiplayer mode...before the multiplayer mode was downsized to just be Shadow Androids clobbering each other.

Ok so conspiracy theory here: I believe that Sonic Rush was put into development and released on the same day as Shadow the Hedgehog for the sole reason that some parents wouldn’t let their kids play Shadow the Hedgehog and they still wanted to get some sales from those parents for the holidays so they put out a more family friendly game out on the same day

I played Sonic Spinball and only could beat it in the genesis Collection on Steam by using checkpoints and it still took me many hours. I liked the game but it would be more fun if it wasn't so difficult. I saw how expensive fire and ice was and didnt buy it as a kid.

The issue with Sonic GBA is that it was a port for Java devices and they just put that game just to sell more even though it just didn't worked, if they at least optimized that a bit it would've sold more.

True I think the music was the reason for lag since the gba has a sound chip made from midi for it so. Sonic 1 gba is bad for less optimized on an outdated console didn’t really think about the sound chip that the gba so it’s just push the gba to its limits with the audio at that. Even soon if advanced did that better than anything else it’s I feel like they just copied sonic advance engine but it wasn’t that special since sonic jam and gems collection already has most features that the gba port already has.

I personally like Shadow the hedgehog , I wouldn't call it amazing at all but it's still a fun time (for the most part with a few exceptions) imo but I do fully acknowledge the flaws it has Its anywhere between a high C or low B if I had to rank it But its definitely better than Sonic Heroes that's for sure lol Rush is definitely the better game of the two I genuinely believe 06 would have been a solid game if it rushed so much, but unfortunately it's not a good game due to being rushed but despite the many issues it hads I still find it decently fun it's like a high C tier game for me Also im glad you talked about Sonic Boom Fire and Ice! I wouldn't call it a good Sonic Game but I would call it a very Good Game! it's genuinely pretty fun!

(I am just going to ignore the Shadow hate. *Insert Sonic sideeye in the shadows-picture*) Honestly, I will never understand why they won't rerelease the Rush games. Sure, the bosses in the first game are beyond unpopular, but otherwise I don't see a clear reason not to? Maybe because it is associated with Dimps? That's like the only real reason I could think of. At least Heroes and Shadow have a technical reason why they cannot get rerelease because that gotta be a port and...well, I can think of much more fun and financially sensical things to do than that. Having to beg EA to allow the rerelease just to then have to decompile Renderware from scratch because they do not support it anymore...seems kinda dreadful, ngl.

Well... sort of. It does attach to the Genesis but the games are CD exclusive so the Genesis+CD is an independent console in that way.

I can tell you, sonic 06 does shadows characterization, and its level design well. Its just the flanky controls/slowdowns that make it a drag. P06 is an example:> (All though both can be overseen since, the stories bad, and the levels themselves can be buggy lol.)

7:19 yeah....no about sonic 06's reboot... it's technically non-existent because of sonic generations this game basically retcon the reboot and connected all past events before the reboot of 06 to 2011sonic aka his 20th anniversary which retcon and destroy the reboot of sonic 06. (Sorry i think i accidentally posted in one of the shorts)

@@PercyPanleo yes it did retconned itself and rebooted the series in the dark age but in 2011 it just destroyes the reboot of sonic 06 sonic generations was basically sonic visiting his pasrt it even linked the adventure games we saw the adventure Levels in sonic generations...and blaze was there too again defeats the purpose..of the reboot blaze was shown up in sonic rush before sonic 06 come out now when sonic 06 reboots everything none of adventure games,sonic rush agmes etc never happened but no...sonic generations link those events to the main Timeline again and blaze showed up out of nowhere too in generations which again defeats the purpose of the reboot

I kind of liked Sonic 06 as a kid, but it had too many glitches and problems. Then, in the same day, Sonic 1 got released on the gba and I looked like seeing the game with a microscope. Then, i heard that Sonic 06 had many problems because the development team got cut in half to develop a Wii game.... and then Sonic and the Secret Rings came out.... i'm just confused

Personally i think a decent amount of sonic games have worse level desgin then sonic 06. I feel if sonic 06 had no bugs faster characters , and abit better gameplay it would be top 10 for most people. its in my top 15

Fun fact: Shadow The Hedgehog is a good game, actually lol. Also Sonic Rivals was an alright game, but Rivals 2 is much better. Basically, take the review scores of the Rivals games from IGN and switch them and that's how I feel about those games. Anyway, I like some of these games.

15 year old me at the time was definitely skeptical of the Sonic Boom series from the very jump, from the unpolished nature of the game seen in the first few trailers, to the horror stories about the development process behind the scenes. I watched SomeCallMeJohnny's review of the game, and the Brain Scratch let's play around that time, and the game just looked way too undercooked. I didn't play the game until I got my Wii U like a year later and I couldn't even finish it.

It's probably also a reference to Sonic 06, similar to how it is theorized that 06's title of just "Sonic the Hedgehog" was a reference to Shadow in the first place.(Despite 06 being in development longer, but final names are often decided very late in development)

Incredibly irresponsible for Sega to screw up not only a reboot of the series, but also Sonic 1. Maybe Sega doesn't want the year to feel like nothing, so they shoved it all out to give their fans SOMETHING. The saving grace obviously being Sonic Riders.
