This is just more proof that Ohtani never misses. Seriously his work on the series, and especially in Runners is stellar, it's even crazier that he went so hard on a mobile game's soundtrack.

I consider Unleashed to be Ohtani's magnum opus but Sonic Runners might be the OST that hits my emotions the hardest. I can never listen to this soundtrack without the widest grin on my face and tears in my eyes. Just an absolutely beautiful soundtrack that never ceases to make me happy.

I have to mention Sonic Runners Revival, the fan server for the game. They do events, removed all monetization, and are even adding some new content! I didn't learn of the game until after it was cancelled, so they were the reason I was able to play it

Ohtani bringing up Runners in his Frontiers Music interview on the official Sonic channel was something I didn't expect, but something I'm glad happened, because I love this soundtrack to death and thought all the melodies from them were just a weird fever dreams I had.... (Also, wanna point out that Ohtani said somewhere on a Twitter post that he's not a guitarist. Let that sink in. Bro is not a guitarist and can still write masterful guitar melodies) Edit: Power Ride is that one track I always hear but never could find in ALOT of Sonic related videos... Edit 2: SAME WITH THEORY OF ATTACK! this soundtrack had a bigger influence than I initially thought...

Always had a soft spot for the Runners OST. Though I played it on a long car ride with my dad and he called it "hyped-up elevator music" which I'll never forget, lol. Similarly I very recently played some Frontiers Cyberspace music while playing Monopoly with my family, and my mom said it was "like grocery store music... but a little bit better." Guess that's the legacy of Sonic music in my family haha.

This soundtrack almost perfectly fits the genre that I prefer to call "Ah, yes, music that I cannot listen to because it sounds so cheerful and inspiring that I start to hate my lonely, disgusting, miserable life at least 2 times more than usual".

So glad to see this soundtrack being given some attention. It's one of my personal favorites

This OST sounds like what I'd imagine a modern Sonic Adventure 3 OST would sound like. It has a similar attitude imo while also having it's own style in a similar way that SA1 and 2 differ in their tracks.

My favorite track is absolutely End of Summer. It sounds so bittersweet, as if sending off this little game and it's ambition. That violin gets me every time. I was so happy to run with it in a Runners Revival event.

I bought this OST on iTunes as a kid at like, age 15 and I've loved it ever since. Always thought it deserved sooo much more love. I love this series' music more then any other's. Edit: woah, hearing these songs again in your video is making the kid in me come alive. My gosh I'm getting emotional over this, these melodies bring back so many good memories.

in Ohtani's interview found on the Sonic channel, he makes a mention of this soundtrack and talks about how because it was a mobile game, and getting updates at the time - he was pretty much working on overdrive making the music and man... he really had a blast with this one.

End of the Summer reminds me a lot of The Waters Edge from Wave Ocean. Both make me feel full of nostalgia, despite never having played either of the games.

Damn it now you make me want to listen to the whole OST for how beautiful all the songs are especially End of the Summer. Almost brought me to tears the first time I listened to it in game when it was relevant during it's one year run (haha). That song alone made me realize how much I love this blue rat and the many fumbles he's had

I will never not start bawling when I hear "End of The Summer" because I associated that song to the game's closing and it's just so fitting and beautiful.

According to Ohtani this was his favorite of the soundtracks he's worked on, and I can't help but agree. The soundtrack as well as how chill the gameplay was made me fall in love with it as far back as the first beta, and I really hope there's a chance to make another soundtrack like this at some point. Although, Ohtani and the franchise's music in general is ever evolving and always exploring new avenues, and as you mentioned a lot of the DNA of this soundtrack can be found in both old and new works. (In particular, a lot of Team Sonic Racing songs remind me of this game) Whatever new directions Sonic's soundtrack takes, I'll always be grateful for this OST and will be excited to see where it evolves to next.

YES, MORE PEOPLE ARE GIVING THIS OST SOME ATTENTION! This is probably my favorite Sonic OST from the Franchise *and they put it on a Mobile game*. This just shows the standards Sonic almost always has with it's soundtrack, and it's a shame the soundtrack wasn't nominated for this year's GOTY2022 show. This soundtrack is the embodiment of summer vacation freedom. No school, no work, just adventure. It's hard to experience that feeling when you're an adult who has to work full time but this soundtrack did the trick.

I was so devastated when I tried playing the game again that I still remember the exact words I saw that day: "Sonic Runners is no longer available to play. Thank you for playing Sonic Runners."

I also heard some parallels between this soundtrack and forces. Like, a lot "Go Quickly" sounds directly out of one of the first stages of forces. Funny more than anything.

I really enjoyed playing this Mobile game when it came out. It was always a pleasure to play to just pass the time. I have so much nostalgia for this game, and it was one of the only mobile games I would never mute the music because it was that good. The events really had me excited to see what was going to be next with a brand new track to accompany the fresh new stage. It was such a darn shame that the game didn't last very long and I was very upset when they announced that they wouldn't be supporting the game anymore. I will always cherish this game and the impact it had on me. It really got me through some dark times in my life and I will be forever grateful that it showed up when it did.

Bro I LOVE this soundtrack. Strange Parade and Snow Day are easily some of my favorite Sonic songs. In general. But all of them are great!

Some of the tracks like the title theme and the menu theme are so nostalgic to me, and I occasionally find myself humming them. And all the remixes are freaking AMAZING.

End of the summer might just be one of the few Sonic songs to instantly move me to tears after only one listen This whole soundtrack… just evokes so many emotions all at once, one of the best sonic soundtracks period.

Spring emotions is a song that is easy to miss out on as it came in the volume 2 edition of the soundtrack I believe. I never got to hear it in game. Sonic Runners was really good, very addictive. Shame it got shut down. This video has inspired a special stage idea. Gonna try and recreate this gameplay in my fangame's engine

Y'all should check out the awesome Sonic Runners Revival project, a team has made the game fully playable again and added new characters, events like a frontiers one that ended a few days ago and frequent updates. I'm having an amazing time playing this game from my childhood again just search the name up on KZfaq and you'll find the official channel. They're even making a reboot called Sonic Runners Reloaded that's just awesome.BTW it's an apk so sorry Apple users you won't be able to enjoy it😔. I've been playing a lot of Sonic Runners Revival recently, and the music is probably one of the best parts of it. It helps put me into a state of flow when playing that's so satisfying.

Although it sucks Runners was shut down pretty early in it's life I'm really glad the fan project Sonic Runners Revival exists continues to add new content

Sonic Runners was my jam back in 2015. Gacha mechanics aside, the core gameplay was so fun that I actually took the time to get good at the game and practice my skills to get those long, high-scoring runs going. Hell, I'm _still_ really good at it! My highest score in Sonic Runners Revival is something in the ballpark of 200,000,000. This soundtrack is great, and adds so much to the game. My personal favorites are Beyond the Speed Of..., Strange Parade, Magical Snow Day and End of the Summer. You can really feel that same energy in these tracks that Ohtani would later bring into Sonic Forces' score.

Been Watching you for a long time, I still remember the days when you were testing the waters with new types of content. Your Guides helped me with realm, however now, you've found something that you not only seem to enjoy, but has also gotten successful for you And now look at you, you are about to hit the big 100K. I was so distraught when this game was discontinued. It was not just the best Sonic mobile game to me, but the best mobile game period. Great music, great visuals, and it just felt good to play, to get a higher score each time.

This is my 3rd favorite Sonic OST. I just like Generations' and SA2's music a little more. "Beyond the Speed Of", "Fly Away", "Go Quickly!", and "End of the Summer" are some of my favorite tracks in the entire series.

These videos are really interesting. As a music student it's intriguing to listen to new material that you can delve into the different nuances and similar motifs. I love the idea of blending a lot of traditionally acoustic instrumentation like piano and strings with more stereotypically rock/ alternative rock themes, creating massively textured powerhouses. This is a great example of composition for games. Just finished my first public gig and after writing some composition intended for film I'd love to explore video game scoring and composition. Great video as always.

I'm so so so happy that this video was made. Sonic Runners is definitely a personal favorite Sonic soundtrack. Every track has so much energy and joy to it and it's such a shame it doesn't get as much recognition it deserves. It definitely has a special place in my heart

Never have I ever felt so happy after listening to all the songs on this masterpiece of an OST.

I haven't listened to this soundtrack in a good while now and I forget how easily it can bring a tear to my eye. It's one of the few pieces of music that can get me emotional, it's THAT good. Sonic Runners was already a blast, the most fun I've had with a mobile game, but coupling THIS soundtrack just elevates it that much more. Ohtani has stated that this was his favorite Sonic project he worked on and I have to agree, this music is so uplifting, upbeat and adventurous and the titles themselves tell a story. It really feels like a Sonic Adventure, y'know? I love the way you describe it in the beginning: It's so Sonic, because of the sound being having this optimistic outlook on life and telling you to just get up and GO! I pray to GOD this style comes back at some point, because I MUCH prefer it over the electric, dubstep type of music Ohtani's done lately.

FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT SONIC RUNNERS' SOUNDTRACK! And the fact it's you talking about it makes it even better! Sonic Runners has gorgeous music and fun gameplay, i really wish the game wasn't pulled..thankfully the fan revival exists, i play it all the time! I wish "Double Down", the Roulette theme was mentioned but since it doesn't seem listed in the soundtrack i can see why it wasn't, it's really catchy!
