Ummmm me 😃😃, Matt !! At 13:45 you should have used ISO 16.000 (I know at the exact moment of the wedding we are worried about other things hahaha, not the freakin ISO) but I’ve heard that at ISO 16.000 the noise goes away.... like NO NOISE AT ALL.... cheers great video!! I’m so excited for my A7S3 to arrive !!

I have. It's my first Sony camera. I noticed you used the 24-105 f4 lens. That's the lens I purchased. I've seen that many go with the 24-70 2.8 because the f4 isn't good enough for weddings. What's your thoughts? Was thinking it's fine in low light when paired with A7siii.

The most important thing about shooting super spreader events is capturing good dynamic range. This could be the last time the last time some of these folks are captured on video.

Great job Matt, enjoyed watching this. I'm always impressed and curious how you get (or remember?) the ISO that was used on a shot. Is that data saved on the file? I would assume no since you can change the ISO while recording. Would love to know if you just try and remember what you shot at.

Sony's Catalyst Browse software will tell you the clip's ISO. 😁

Too bad it doesnt come in an f2.8 Even if it was fairly pricy, it would be the lens I would buy in a heartbeat. 24-70 it is.

Awesome video Matt! I have one on pre order to go along with my A7iii. I'd love it if you could test long form recording in direct sunlight to see how quickly the camera overheats...and I feel you on the temperature brother, I'm down near Harlingen and the heat is unbearable during the day haha.

Can't wait for the complete review. The scene near the end with the sparklers going really showed off the range of the camera. The sparklers weren't completely blown out but it still showed a lot of the dark areas well in the same scene. I love the Sony high ISO lack of noise. The scene going around the car was really high ISO but still looked great. I noticed that your outdoor shots were at 640. On a sunny day that seemed odd.

Thanks David! 640 is now the native ISO for SLOG3 which maximizes the dynamic range. When possible I tried to shoot at this ISO. :)

That was an absolutely fantastic video! This camera is marvelous! I've preordered one and can't wait to receive it! Nice to get confirmation that I made the right decision. The footage was BEAUTIFUL. That was a BEAUTIFUL couple, too! They're young and happy and full of hope for the future. I really loved watching this. And it was so sweet and adorable watching the bride dance with her Dad. I dream of doing the same for my girls. Hell, w/ the pandemic going I wish it would happen like tomorrow so they could leave me alone already, lol. I'll check out that wedding video guide. I've got lots of questions: 1. I noticed you used slog3. Why not slog2? 2. Did you use the same lens, just at different focal lengths as indicated? Or, did you use a prime lens as well? 3. Was that a 24 fps timeline on which you used 24, 30, 60 and 120 depending on the shot and effect you wanted? Again, this was a beautiful video and made my day!

Matt, with the A7iii or A7Riii we have been told not to use the Slog due to the 8 bits, would you say for the A7Siii slog3 is the best option? what about HLG or Cine2 as it was recommended for the previous models?

Beautiful footage Matt. Were you using AF or MF when shooting handheld on the 24-105? If AF, how did it perform with multiple faces in the frame? Thank you!

Thanks! Used a mix of af and mf. In af it was good about sticking to one face. You can tweak the settings to make it stay on one face or switch if you need it to.

Also, not sure if you did, but you should send your footage over to resolve for color grading. With the 10 bit and higher bitrate, you won't lose that much detail from rewrapping it. Use color space transform (use the luminance mapping tool) and you'll look like a coloring expert.

Hey Matt, thanks for the video! I'm buying one and it will be my first full frame camera. I usually bring 12-15 batteries to a wedding. How many batteries did you burn through?

Hey what was your white balance? Did you use a light meter? What was color grading like? Whats your favorite spec about this camera? For me its the auto focus. That AF is the best around. I have the panasonic s1h. Thinking about sending it back and pre-ordering the Sony A7siii. What would you do personally? Tell me why.

White balance changed depending on the shot. I use the camera's built in exposure meters. Color grading was easier than with previous Sony cameras. There are too many good things to pick just one. I would buy the A7S III over the S1H (which is literally what I have done)

Amazing Video as always Matt. What are you setting your zebras to for exposure on this outdoor shots of the church? Are you exposing a middle gray card at %41? Also striking about this video is the jarring lack of face masks. I only saw a few people wearing them. What was the deal there?

Which IBIS setting did you have it on? The up and down movement at 24fps that's usually there to some small extent when using a 3 axis gimbal was almost non existent and surprised me!

I used a mix of standard and active IBIS. A lot of that up and down movement comes from how you walk with the gimbal though, IBIS doesn't help much

Hi I just got an FX3 coming from Fuji Xt3, so im new to Sony focus. Shooting with the Tamron 28-75mm. I have a wedding soon and was wondering what’s the best settings to get the bride walking down the isle to have her in focus. Manual vs auto, face detect or no ect. Great Job Matt!!! I just pre ordered mine! Is it possible to provide us with some footage? Specially the skin tones in bright sun light and dark environment? An awesome aspect of the A7S series has always been its performance in low lighting, but my god....you had that ISO cranked and it still looked flawless...yowza...thank goodness i stuck to my guns and stayed in the Sony camp! How was the eye autofocus during the lower light scenarios? Again great vid Matt! thanks!

Haha yeah I figured I would try out 40,000 ISO but was surprised by how good it looked. Eye AF worked great, even during the first dance which was at 25K ISO

Hey! This is one of the first Sony mirrorless that can shoot slog without issues because it is 10-bit. I am still figuring out my preferred picture profile. :)

Beautiful footage indoors and out. I'm curious...how was it grading the slog3 low light footage? I stopped using slog3 on the a7sii because it was terrible in low light; and, as per your recommendation, started using cine4. But with 10bit and slog3...is that a game changer?

You definitely still have to overexpose it. Thankfully the A7S III can hit those high ISOs to do that easily. :)
