This was such a great comparison, and very helpful. I’ll be buying an oled in the spring, and was almost completely sold on a Sony (the A80L), but after seeing videos like this and doing some digging of my own, I’m likely going to grab either the S90C, or 95C. I was going to wait until Black Friday and buy something from this year, but because of your video I went out and bought a S95B with a 4 year protection plan for $2000 CDN all in. Which is about $500 USD lol. I get it on the 27th. I will have to pay and get your settings when I get it.

Hi. I thought it was Sony’s upscaling processor that put it ahead of S95C and G3. At the Value Electronics shootout, they added a category for viewing streaming or non HDR content. This, apparently, blew the other two out of the water. Can you comment on upscaling between these tvs? Thanks.

Hey, are you finding a lot of noise in SDR footage? Watching Dune, 007 No Time to Die, Friends, etc has brought about atrocious noise in the picture of my A95L. Way worse than my old A1E. Turning up the noise reduction options reduces details by a lot and introduces bad artifacting.

I own both. This is very miss leading. The Sony was better in every way. Motion was also better on Sony, tone mapping was jaw dropping good. If you want colors to be like Samsung up the Sony to 65. The brightness is also the same, but the tone mapping makes the Sony much brighter with high lights that are insane.

I wonder which picture mode you're using for Sony. Because as far as I know, Sony doesn't look that dull in Vivid mode or even standard mode.

Whatever issues the S95B/S98C/S90C has with HDR Tone mapping can be corrected by madVR/mpv's AI-based Dynamic HDR Tone mapping. It's still a bummer that SVP4 Pro is necessary to correct A95L's motion problems. ON the otherhand the lack of black polarizer and 120hz BFI is a MASSIVE dealbreaker with modern OLEDs that older OLEDS like the A80J/C1 or even A90J (at a discount) are a gem for those who want the best motion/clarity/detail in the image.

Wish your crazy ex-wife hadn't destroyed your x900e so you can compare it against some of these QD-OLED. I think you might be shocked at how well it holds up or even surpasses them at times. I've bought and returned a- a80k, c3, qn90b, u8h and g3 over the past year and a half trying to replace my x900e. While all of them have better technical specifications, none of them could match the color quality and color production. There is just something really special about the x900e color quality, It has a very unique characteristic. It also surpassed every single one of these new panels in motion handling.

I do not understand why you praise Samsung and shit on Sony so damn much when it comes to motion. My dad owns two Samsung tvs and I own a Sony. The Samsung is not even watchable in action scenes. Objects and characters are a blurry mess but the panning shots are smoother than Sony. The Sony allows some chop in the panning shots but the action scenes are ACTUALLY WATCHABLE. Sony is sooooo much better than the Samsung in terms of motion in action scenes that that alone with worth picking it up over Samsung. Sony also looks better when the motion processing is turned off. It looks more natural whereas on Samsung it’s a choppy mess.
