Sony Ericsson K800i is one of the best phones i ever had back in 2006, it had an amazing camera for its age, the lens cover, camera shutter key & more. I do really want to see some of those design ideas and features in our today's flagships like iPhones, Google phones, Samsung Phones or even Sony themselves. Please share with me your thoughts and what are the phones that you can never forget.

Camera cover, Xenon flash, Removable Battery, Physical Cam shutter button. In some terms we have taken a step back nowadays.

Photo quality is way better than expected. Really natural photos and no software to play with its quality. Plus, I totally agree with you about the missing stuff in today's phones.

I remember having a Sony Ericsson K800i. I could take a picture of a fast spinning fan. It could actually freeze the movement and I could zoom in to see the brand of the fan!! Wish you could demo that

I used to do the same, it is really amazing, very detailed you can see the dust on your fan's blade when you zoom in, even today's phone will struggle taking photos of spinning fan

Was gonna say exactly this. With this phone you could never take a bad pic and that was in 2007/8. Actually think the camera was better than my current iPhone. (iPhone 8)

I found this phone my grandparents house attic, this is the second time i own a phone that has buttons, and after rewiewing it more i decided to keep it. This phone has amazing camera quality and more features that i didnt expected from 2008 phone.

Loved the idea. Do more of these. First I think about the Moto Droid, and the Palm Treo. And some Lumia Phone. It's great to think about how things could be better with past ideas.

Thanks for that. The camera of that phone was a real boom, and my pics is still amazing and detailed, my phone was stolen unfortunately, but anyway when i see the quality of mid range smartphones camera nowadays, i believe the companies are greedy af, bcoz that's not the right development that should be in 13 years.

I adore this thing! I still have the ol' girl. I affectionately called it my camera with a phone built-in. I wasn't soft on it as a teen, and it held up damn well, really felt like it was built with quality and the camera was top-notch back then. It was my last phone before smart phones, and sold me on the Sony Ericsson phones. My next two would be from them, the Xperia X10 and the Xperia Arc. While I love smarthphones I don't think I ever adored a phone as much as my K800.

I have recently dug out my k800i, complete with modded menu icons I made myself in Photoshop and flashed to the firmware with setools when I was in college back in 07. Sadly the rubberized coating these phones have has broken down and become sticky. However I can confirm that the camera is very good having taken it with me on a street photography session, the shots just looked great right away without adjustment especially when viewing them back on a modern screen. But the thing is this, the 2005 k750i that came before has an even better camera, even though 2.0mp the shots from that look so cinematic like 35mm agfa film, zero processing in camera just superb reality, and the characteristics and warmth of an early digital camera. I can zoom right in to 200% and at no point does it look like a painting, opposed to modern copy paste shots that need dozens of filters applied for people to take a second look at, my old pixel 3 looks terrible zoomed in like a Monet painting without the paint, or the talent... I'm not interested in capturing video so the k750i is now my daily driver in 2022. Also Galaga j2me and the joystick on these phones is pure 🔥

There was a nigt mode ( green vision) i used it to find things under the bed in pitch black! It was so ahead of its time.

The quality of those phones was veryu good and they were very innovative if we consider their age. I loove them till now. I have so many memories of them. Also the camera for the cybershot phones and the speakers of the walkman phones were very qualitatively too.

Seriously, loved it. I would love to have such lens cover - not because of scratches, lenses nowadays are covered with Gorilla Glass. It is damn privacy - I want to be able to physically shut my camera and open when I need it. Messenger wants access to my camera but the only limitating option I have is to allow only when app running, and I want to make it "only when I allow you to take a look". Physical button for photo is also good idea.

Best phone I ever had... losing that camera was crushing. I wish I had buttons again - I used to be able to touch type on a phone with either one or two thumbs and I was so fast and practically faultless. God I hate touch screen.

covering the lens will create bump but still, it is good to have while putting your phone flat on a surface screen facing upward

When I had that phone, I was able to play a lot of games using it's Java player and I was even able to play Pokemon with it and For me It was even better than the 1st gen iPhone due to how it is easier to watch videos and even record video.

Hello guys im wondering if anyone can help me please. I have a few old Sony Erriccsson mobiles and they are not working correctly i believe a software update would fix them. I understand that Seus is no longer valid so what can i use to update filmware of the mobiles ? I still have the data cables so i am able to connect to my computer but do not know which software to use. Please help much appreciated thanks

It's so stupid that now we have a very large phones and "there is no space" for minijack or even a camera shutter button. Only Xperias and ASUS Zoom ZX551ML which i bought specially, has physical 2-stage camera shutter button. But i have to sell it cause Android 6 is shit. Even 5 is better. Or 10-11 from newer ones, but noone made a custom rom. And yea, battery... I remember owning Nokia 6310i, i could pack a spare battery to backpack and not worry about charging, for 2-3 weeks xD Could easily go on a trip, "into nature", sailing etc. From newer and decent faster phones only Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 had a good and removable batt, but now it's history as well. I wonder when (if ever) good USEFUL phones will return. With cam shutter buttons, no notches, minijack, sd card slot (really useful when soft gets corrupted!! No risk of losing shitload of data)...
