Great GM lens. Wish sony would launch a compact 35mm f1.8 G lens, similar size to the 40mm G lens.

Just picked up this lens for a ridiculous price, basically got it for 2/3 retail on Amazon, was already discounted by nearly €300 then there was a €150 voucher then even more off when I actually went to checkout, had to double check it wasn’t some dodgy seller or a used lens, but no, brand new sold by Amazon. Can’t wait to get out and use it.

Have you ever had your A7RV get hot and drain the battery when the camera was powered off? Mine has done that 3 times in the 5 months I have had it.

No, I don't own A7R V, I have only had for a couple of week.

I do own a A7RV and that does not happen. Best to get it serviced and checked. The camera does not draw a lot of power turned off. Even getting it hot only when you are continuously recording 4K stuff. Though my use case is photography, sensor is just slow read out for video.

Sony does not care much about fixing focus breathing optically in their lenses. For this they switch this probleem in favor of them, with a marketing feature, which is called focus breathing compensation in their bodies. Now You Tubers can test all non Sony bodies saying they lack focus breathing compensation. Nikon and Pansonic bodies does not have focus breathing compensation as a feature, but what everybody misses is that they don't need this as their lenses does not exibit so much focus breathing. How a problem become a feature which should not be the case.

I don’t think that anybody misses that. This video clearly states that it is a compromise. “Fixing it optically” would mean making the lenses larger. Also, it’s not like Sony lenses are the only lenses with focus breathing, so other brands would still benefit from focusing breathing compensation, although not as much as Sony.
