Күн бұрынToday we're checking out the Sony RX0 II. This might be the most awesome stealth camera currently on the market. Its got awesome image quality, an audio in port, 4k, stabilization, and a flip up screen, all in the size of one of my larger Sony batteries.
This thing packs features for days but a good camera needs to be more than the sum of its parts.

The image quality looks really good! There is a ton of versatility even with the gimped focus system, but that price is beyond my pay grade at the moment, haha. Nice video as usual.

Thanks for your videos, they are helping me decide which camera to buy. Your vids are very informative it's like Im a child asking a dad who knows what he's talking about (my dad will take hours to figure out why the printer isnt working). I am leaning towards the Sony fdr x3000 action cam. Thank you soooo much everyday dad 😊😊

Which would you say is better the Sony rx0 ii or the DJI osmo pocket for a vlogging camera ? I'm currently looking at purchasing either one and trying to way up which is going to be best I already have quite a few cameras however my original set up was not purchased with vlogging in mind and now I'm doing a lot of vlogging and using my current cameras there always seems to be a issue one way or another I brought a OnePlus 6t after watching a lot of reviews on KZfaq im not a iPhone fan and wanted to get away from iPhones whilst this is a great phone and takes fantastic pictures the video side simple does not stack up when looking at video from my other cameras as I had intended to use my phone for vlogging as I want something small, quick to set up etc with good sound and video I already own a gimbal however I don't want to have to carry it all the time

Did you have overheating problems? I especially will use it for TimeLapse sessions for about 40min length. Do you think is a good purchase?

what's the range of far focus ? is it 1m to infinity ? also does it last for complete 15 mins before shutdown ?

This going head to head with the GoPro7 would be a cool comparison, they look to be around the same size. Question; do you prefer flip screen or fully articulating? Pros and Cons of either in your opinion.

I want that 4K in my RX0-1 🌋 The build in mic on RXO is amazing, equivalent to Sony ECMAW4 I'd say.

Thats a tough one, the image quality out of the RX0 is much better than the osmo pocket. But the osmo has that awesome gimbal and is much smaller, cheaper, and easier to use.

What were you doing or how hot was the room? You are the first to say it turned off from heat. I’ve seen people saying it has done 49 mins before overheating and shutting off.

I just got mine the other day... What modes are you using to shoot video? If you use the manual video, f stop is locked at 4.5... of course so... Auto ISO and 1/60 for 30fps... Over exposed big time. Program mode will jack the shutter speed up over 1/450!!! That can't be good. What is the best way to shoot in bright daylight? This thing is great for shooting b roll as long as it's cloudy.

Got the M1 as a B cam and stealthy street stills camera but had to return it due to the shortcomings. Loved the concept but it just wasn’t good enough. Recently found a brand new M2 for only around $400, never bought a piece of gear so fast. Amazing little camera ☺️

The 24mm Sony g master lens. It’s one of the nicest lenses I’ve ever had my hands on 🤯

Does the F4 aperture degrade image quality (for stills) indoors when theres no dedicated light, but just basic house lights?

Yeah you'll have to make sure you have more light available to take those photos. But if you are looking for a stills camera get one of the RX100 cameras.

The RX0 is an enigma. Not great at anything but being a situational go to camera. For short presentation it is acceptable. But still I hold that this is great for catch effects angle shots for B and C roll. Where short record times mean nothing bad. It is great in say a multi shot environment. Now if there was an application to sync multiple RX0s to capture your project, it would be amazing. Sync say 10 or more of these for special video projects.

If you are talking about your first camera I would say the RX100. It’s a fully functional camera whereas the osmo pocket and rx0 are great but I’d recommend them more as second or third camera’s 👍

Thanks for taking it out and about. Yes -- Sony has carved a somewhat unique niche for this camera -- and an expensive niche too! It is amazing to see how much of the "guts" of digital cameras (not the sensor) can be squeezed into such small spaces. This one looks to have most of the functionality of the Sony APS-C and full-frame mirrorless cameras, along with the sensor, the screen, the battery slot, the lens, the connectors -- all in such a small space. GoPro also has perfected squeezing lots of complex circuitry into teeny spaces. So I wonder how much "slack" space there is in a full-frame/APS-C Sony camera? But I bet that it is needed to help prevent heat issues.... Which makes me wonder why the S1/S1R are so big....

How do you shoot video at out door using only F4?! Ok using always ND filters. I wonder, how much shutter speed using all action cams for recording?

There are nd filters you can get for it.

Maybe Sony, or another 3rd party will develop some ND filters for this camera much like the ones available for the Osmo Pocket. The would solve having to change your shutter speed to get a correct exposure when recording outdoors. If those are developed I would probably give this camera a try. Great review as always TED. Thanks for sharing. ( duhh! should have finished watching the video before I left this comment. ND filters already exist!)

Wow this thing REALLY feels like the spiritual successor of the awesome Bloggie series that Sony did 10-12 years ago. *edit* ...700 bucks? …ok... maybe not so much a spiritual successor… but ah well, it still gives me this Bloggie vibe of having a small video blogger-friendly size with a good quality sensor.

I like a lot of things about the RX0 II but that constant f/4 aperture is a dealbreaker. f/2.0 would be wonderful, but f/2.8 is the minimum from a fixed focal length lens for me.

Yeah I really wish it was a 2.8, but then you would absolutely have to have ND or it would be useless outside.

On my RX0ii I am becoming fond of using the preset focus function. Even while recording, you can turn “near focus” on and off with the enter button. I am impressed with the image quality, but disappointed with the short time before the overheat warning and shutdown occur, even with the flip up screen set away from the body for additional cooling. I rather like the camera, but the heat issue limits what I can do with it.

I do wish the heat management was better but it’s infinitely better than the rx0 mark I and much better than the rx100 series. Those can only do 4K for 5 minutes at a time.

Interesting camera, but alittle too much sharpening for me. It just looks very grainy after the sharpening which is obvious at 05:46

To me get rid of the 4k as the cooling issue is a massive problem, make it infinity focus and use a 2.8 (or less) aperture, and as for the timeout on the screen honestly once you have framed up the shot it is not a deal breaker. I know everyone and their cousin want 4k but since it is not widely used yet something like this would be better as a 1080p (maybe 2k) powerhouse, provided that Sony could figure out the massive overheating issue.

The stabilization is ok, but it’s not great. I’m glad it’s there but wish it was a little better.

They have an app which can edit the video to Make it super stable on 1080p. Uses something in the RX02 to make it happen. Also isn’t there an infinite focus mode? Not sure.

And it can record 4K longer than the rx100. The problem is the rx100 can do so much more, changeable aperture, built in Nd, wider open aperture, better physical controls, better battery, etc. But darn it I wish the rx had a mic input.

I find the audio is far better picking up the background noise and birds compared to your other mic. More depth.. Also, I think the video is better than your GoPro. Much less contrast or flatter so you can edit it better. Great review

sony picture profile :P x3000 lately really piss me of and i thinking about changing to hero7, but these colors and contrast in hero is think i have to live with :P i like colors from sony more than over magenta canon colors. Why don't you show this new stabilization in sony ?
