@@flipout50 Yes can switch while recording, of course it is difficult with tiny buttons. Turning the temp auto power off temp will let you have a mini hand warmer.

@@flipout50 Yes you can, if you assign a custom button to that. Then when you're shooting you can turn near mode on and off. The catch is that near mode gains only half a meter. So near mode = 50cm to 1 meter, and preset focus is 1 meter to infinity. The camera can focus closer than 50cm but for that you'd have to set it to AF-S or manual focus, and then you can't change it once you start shooting.

@@atarkus8 Thanks for your reply. Very helpful. What is your impression of the lower light performance. A 1" sensor make a difference but surprised that they went with a f4. Osmo Pocket (which I own) has a f2 lens and does surprisingly well in lower light. I am considering buying the RX0 2 so appreciate your thoughts.

@@flipout50 Well, obviously don't expect miracles. A 1" sensor is large for a compact camera, but still relatively small. Having said that I do think the quality of the footage in low light is surprisingly decent. (I haven't used the Osmo, but I have used the mavic pro which is probably very similar quality). It helps that for 4k it oversamples (shoots in higher resolution and then scales down). This helps reduce some of the noise. The fact that it's F4 rather than F2 isn't really an issue (the Osmo pocket has a much smaller sensor, so the sony still collects more light). The bigger problem is the fact that you can't change the aperture. This means in bright sunlight, if you're shooting at frame rates like 1/50th of a second you need an ND filter as the image is too bright. (They sell them, I use one). I would imagine the digital image stabilization on the sony can't compete at all with the Osmo. So for footage where you're walking, or driving there's no match for a real gimbal. But for everything else, I think it's an easy win for the sony.

Totally! That’s why I suggest at the end to maybe own both if you want to have a full kit. The RX0 ii is the only one that’s waterproof and has a mic jack... I wish the RX100 would put a mic jack in it! :(

​@@connormccaskill I think Sony is basically a great company, and they are listening, and they will create our wishes in the future, and although they lag sometimes, other companies lag worse. I think they will make a mic input for the RX100 series and they will make some C-AF in future versions of RX0.

Drives me crazy that the RX100 VI does not have a mic input.

Well Sony has announced a new RX100 VII which a mic input. It’s twice the price of an RX0 2. Seems like every drawback people highlight is addressed in the more expensive cameras. Don’t like it? Then spend more money on a high end model which caters to your needs. I cringe when I hear people complaining about lack of low light capability in gopros. These people know nothing about photography.

Paired with the G6 gimbal (which is waterproof) and Rode Wireless Go mic, it's a pretty tough little system. That will take abuse but produce good quality footage when/where you dont want to expose your main camera and super wide gopro looking footage wont cut it. If you do get it and the G6 gimball, theres an RX0 adapter plate you have to get which is like another $15...

Yeah this camera isnt for "spray and pray filming", lol. But if you have a more professional workflow and shoot from a shot list, you set up each shot and then AF-S works great. But if you like to just hit the record button and keep changing framing and dont really have any structure. This camera is definitely not for you.

@@KrunoslavStifter An all-purpose cam. Video on all small sensors gets really poor in low light situations. Videotaping my kids underwater, going snorkeling, video at night, and yes, action video (it does have IS, right?) The best thing about the form factor is not that it's suitable for "action", it's suitable for everything. Just being able to mount it anywhere besides your hands. If I'm on vacation with my family I'd rather have a camera I can mount on my head so I can be free to interact with the people I'm recording rather than have one or both of my hands and attention focused on the camera. Needless to say, at the end of the day there's NO excuse for any video camera not to have continuous AF, ESPECIALLY at $700. That's not too much to ask in 2019.

@@davidspina297 Fair enough as usage go. Now RX0II is marketed to Vloggers probably because they are testing that market after all that youtube videos people made about first generation. Although it can be used as vlogging cam and action cam, its far from ideal for that usage. Its just not originally convinced for that, it was only adapted. Perhaps in generation three will see it. Would it be good if it had continues phase detection AF, it would not hurt, but I'm not sure how much difference it would make with 1" f4 wide lens. Especially in sunny weather. I mean f/4 on a 1" sensor is around f/10.8 equivalent on full frame. (2.7x Crop Factor). That is almost f/11. I don't know how much would it help but it might. Considering what they added to generation two of the RX compared to first generation of RX we might just see generation three evolving in proper action / vlogging cam with things someone like you asked for like continues AF, but knowing how Sony releases these cameras, I suspect same body and lens on third generation as well. f/11 and continues autofocus on 35 mm lens full frame equivalent.... not sure how much of a difference would AF make. Curiously though Sony says: "When you're taking portrait shots and selfies, the RX0 II's Eye AF function is conveniently set up to automatically focus on the subject's eyes."

Get yourself a Yi action camera mr cheap skate. Stick to your action cams and leave the semi low light cameras to the professionals.

@@davidspina297 CAF would never work here. You see what happens when you press the shutter button for focus? Yeah, that would constantly happen in video. A disaster. Well then I guess everyone would complain "why does it have CAF!!??" hahaha ok maybe not that bad, but woerse than osmo pocket before it switch to phase detect. randomly hunting.
