This guy really understand Cameras, deep knowledge about Non Mainstream Cameras like Sony SLT, Pentax, Olympus etc....... This A77 still relevant & good competitor with more modern rivals

U know what,while the camera alone,in itself already a fantastic product,what's even better here is the fantastic presentation,all info.well researched or furnished by the manufacturer,but praiseworthy most was the preparedness.All so well arranged-properly scripted & most of all,Larry was very proffesional & unlike certain wanna-bees,out here(in YTbe),essentially wasnt prepared & wasted viewers' valuable moments.Kudos to U Larry!

The Sony Alpha SLT-A77 DSLR Digital Camera has an APS-C CMOS sensor. To find the full-frame equivalent of a lens (in regards to the lens' angle ov view) used on the smaller APS-C sensor, you must multiply the focal length of the lens by 1.5x. This applies to all lenses used on the Sony Alpha SLT-A77 DSLR Digital Camera. As such, 16-50mm x 1.5 = 24-75mm. You can refer to pages 235-236 of the SLT-A77's instruction manual for more information regarding the above.

@ZoldierrZzz It was announced last August, but we've only seen the camera on a steady basis the past few months. What Sony has planned for a replacement if at all we do not know, sorry for the confusion. Kit lens are very respectable with regards to their price and performance. The 16-50 will give you better optic's and faster f/2.8 fstop so it really depends on what your needs are. If shooting available light, the 16-50 is the way to go. Chuck

@TacticalHadoken Both are excellent cameras and have many prime lens options available for it. If you are going to be recording a great deal of video, the A77 would have the edge due to its Translucent Mirror Design. Typical DSLR systems build image stabilization into selected lenses only. SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization is built into the camera body itself. You'll reduce blur with every A Mount lens (Sony or Minolta), including macro and wide-aperture prime lenses.

The new Sony cameras have a lot of attractive new innovations to them; however for nature/wildlife work I would still consider the Canon in this instance. Both have a high ISO for low light, with the Sony only exceeding the Canon by 1-stop higher in its ISO capability. Both shoot at 5 frames per second. My reason for selecting Canon is you have a greater selection base of lenses for this task than there are available for Sony. - Yossi

Shutter life expectancy are estimates designed to give you an idea how long the camera is designed to operate under warranty; it is not stating the camera will not operate past that point, just as cars with life expectancies of 250,000 miles are still on the road, or your engine does not shut down immediately if you don't change your oil after 3,000 miles. Good usage can let the camera last much longer and hard abuse or neglect can shorten it. It is a guide, but more so for warranty purposes.

How much of a upgrade would this be from a Sony A65. Should I just get a macro lens for my A65.

There are rumors of the A99 coming late August/early September which would be a full frame camera. As for APS-C, I think you'll be fine getting the A77.

I'm in two minds to get this or a Nikon D7000 with a prime lens. :S Help ?

Hello Larry and BHP staff. How are you doing? I have a little question about the a77. I've read about the shutter life span. Is now rated for a life of 150,000 cycles. This is very welcome and it is on par with cameras like the Canon 7D and Nikon D7000. But, does this mean that once I run out of cycles the camera will stop working? Or that the camera will work differently after that? It's quiet a big investment for me and I totally freaked out with that to be honest. Hope you can answer me.

Does anyone have any experience with this camera with concerts? indoor and or outdoor? Or any other brand camera? im looking around the 800 or 900 range in dollars

I am so confused what to buy: this camera of Canon 60D. I am sony fan but I don't want this to influence my decision. I like nature photography with zoom and night photography with long exposures.

@raredreamfootage The Sony A77's manual does not show any audio options other than a "Wind Noise" option to reduce wind noise by cutting bass sound input from the built-in microphone. This is not an option when an external mic is used. Sony does not list any crop-factor during video recording. I had the a77 for 4 Weeks in Japan and i can say. The only better camera is the a99 :D i just loved it, very awesome camera! I owned the 5D Mark III and D800 (the 5D3 for 9 Months) and i can say for sure that, except the Sensor, the a77 is better in nearly every aspect. The 16-50mm is an awesome lense (better than the 24-105 f/4 on the 5D3 kit). I would buy it again everytime (if the a99 wouldn't exist).
