I always used xperia phones, now using xz3, For one day and a night i used s10 plus Color of s10 camera like fake Chinese type color, display of xz3 is more clearer then s10 plus, video upscale of xz3 is far ahead, Don't be cheat through website or internet reviews Just buy xperia, use it and enjoy it This guy is more intelligent Thanks Brother for such a great review

For the people who would like to do astro photographie: use shutter speed between 8-30 seconds and keep the ISO as low as possible. I recommend setting the ISO to 64 and turning of the HDR setting. You will also need at least a tripod, but the photos will look amazing.

Excellent "Night mode". If using a tripod, keep HDR on, EV at - 0.7, and 1 sec shutter speed at least..., if handheld Id go for 1/4 sec shutter and EV 0 to +0.7. Also, its easy to set it up to ones liking, and pin a Manual shortcut icon on homescreen, so the cam is setup and ready for lowlight on the go. Anyways, IMO one of the better "night modes" out there, keeps the scene looking quite real and not too much HDR fake, as it doesnt mess up the color science like other Night modes. 👍

Perfect demonstrations on how to properly control these camera settings. This is closer to how photographers use full fledged cameras and this is why Xperia 1 and other Sony phones have the potential to capture great images.

Pro-tip to be told: take time on using "expert" feature to get better photo, might vary depending on what specs is the phone's camera. Anyway, Sony always be the killer in "expert" mode photography. They had more photography options!. 😯

Lovely capture - but for a novice like me trying to get to grips with the Sony Pro i, settings would have been more useful for me.

I'm a big fan of Sony phones. I have the XZ Premium. I wish Sony would improve the auto mode. In low light the camera is awful, even using manual mode & a tripod. Although I agree that you can take very nice shots with this phone using the manual mode, I think if you compared it to the Pixel 3, iPhone XS, Samsung S10+, p30 pro etc then you'd notice it's not the best. It upsets me to say it because I'm such a big fan of Sony as a brand. They are so good at making actual cameras, and their phones are so well optimised. This phone would be the best on the market if they just improved the camera. I think it's a software issue, as the sensors they use are found in some great camera smartphones. The pixel is one of the best camera phones on the market and it has just one lens. Sony need to introduce a dedicated night mode. They need to work on their edge detection of portrait shots. They need to add the option HDR to their auto mode. They need better stabilisation for video recording. What are other peoples thoughts?

That's very true. I have XZ3 and in manual mode it can take some really amazing shots. The thing of somewhat magic here is that seven with the lack of ois XZ3 is still capable of taking blur free or with very little blur at as low shutter speeds as 1/2 sec exposure time. Even moving objects aren't as blurred as they would on day xz1 in similar settings. I would sure like to know what trickery they have done there. I also use similar settings, however I recently found that if you turn off the HDR and set the correct ISO, you can get seven better results. Though it may change from situation to situation. Why not you give that a try and give feedback. Ps. Are there any insect rights activists around here lolz 😜

Very good job! It is making a huge difference. Would really appreciate if you can do more samples and try 30 sec shutter speed with lowest ISO at a dark scene and with max ISO at a clear sky with stars. Very interesting to see what is the maximum amount of light it can pick up, at max SS and ISO.

Where do you live that you have so great view from balcony??? Also I am owning Xperia 1 and it has a great camera but you need to learn how to use it. Some bugs they will have to fix like missing 21:9 mode and 4k stabilisation. Thanks for good suggestions for night mode!

Well, that is how thier camera lineup works, with RAW you can see the real dynamic range of the sensor with a linear picture profile on Lighroom And as a S10 user, don't buy ISOCELL for RAW shooting, it's freaking disappointing.

great review im on the verge of going for this phone upgrading from my xperia xz premium but one thing how do you get round the issues with the buttons and switches in the way when you want to put it in a phone cradle holder for tripod or gimbal use - it just interferes and starts causing issues with the switches

Can I just warn anyone who has this phone. The fingerprint sensor is so bad, that when it does work, it will literally let you unlock it with ANY finger which is a huge security breach. Sony should get taken to court over this.

What a bullshit. Longer exposure isnt something special of unique for Xperia. This can be done on ANY phone with longer exposure. Its the point and click absence that make the Sony so bad between all the others.

Stupid Sony Mobile execs making stupid decisions. Haven't they learned their lesson when they ignored Android before? Then they did not use OIS and dual cameras. Then they kept having those gigantic bezels. Then they kept the tired and old brick design for a very long time. How do they expect to increase sales when they are always several steps behind? Now, they can't even put a night mode or an auto night mode withing Superior Auto?

"You really MUST learn how to use MANUAL SETTINGS." And the results is mediocre. How about just buy pixel phone, huawei MATE/P series or even Samsung thry have dedicated NIGHTMODE, just point and shoot. 😂 😂
