Hey! I am a beginner and confused between the two. Also I am a brand loyal person so I’ll be sticking with the one I buy. I really like the ZV-E10 but I also want the electronic viewfinder. Can you fit an EVF on it like the external flash?

@@alianway hmm, not sure. I have seen an evf attachment for other cameras but I do not know if it works with the zve-10. The attachment I saw costs over $400 so I don't know how feasible that is.

For beginner, go with M50. 4k is overrated, at least for non pro shooter. Canon menu is quite simple compare to sony convoluted menu. Trust me, it matters. It also has FULLY TOUCHSCREEN, compare to Sony "Touch" Touchscreen. In conclusion, it has almost anything you need for videography and photography (for beginner). The price is cheaper too. All you need is Sigma 16mm and 56mm. And once you want to upgrade to full-frame, you don't "lose" alot of money. Or it could be your b-roll cam. Great content as always bro...

Thank you, I was so convinced that I needed to shoot in 4K but you just told me all the downsides of doing that and that you just export to 4K from 1080. Brilliant-I had no idea it could be that simple. I might just forget about cameras and buy a camcorder!

Excellent point about being able to make adjustments directly on the flip-out screen of the Canon, vs having to use the knobs on the Sony. That is an observation that I haven’t seen anyone else mention, but it is of great importance to me. Thanks for making this video!!

I've used the M50 for a fews years now for my videos and before on my previous channel which I closed down . The M50 never let me down. I use the EFM-22mm F/2 lens a wireless microphone system and the ultrapod 2 giving me a small system that folds up into my cargo pocket in my pants , I've looked at various videos for upgrading and it seems to me I'm better of sticking with the M50. I truly love the M50 since I'm a beginner, unfortunately, the EF-M mount will be soon discontinued . Canon wants to make the R mount the new standard for full frame and APS-C.

Yeah it's an awesome camera. Regarding the lenses, that is why I advocate the commlite adapter or speed booster with EF / EF-S lenses instead of EF-M.

I love my M50 MkII for all my uses. I shoot video for work, I do photography for a hobby, and I stream for fun. It does everything well. My two complaints are the 30-min recording limit and the EF-M mount. I'm grateful that Sigma has a decent lens collection for the M50.

Yeah, great camera. The 30 minute record limit you can't do anything about. The lenses however, the best way is to either get the speed booster or adapter that allows you to use EF & EF-S Lenses with the m50. Those lenses are a much better investment and much more variety than the ef-m lenses.

With the free Canon utility for desktop you can change the record limit to unlimited on the Canon m50ii. So that gets rid of that problem. Also Canon has a promotion video on their site of a child using the Canon for live streaming to zoom classes for school all day long. Add a Sigma 16mm F1.4 for very sharp images even better than kit lens for vlogging, plus recording at a much lower iso in dim lighting vs. kit lens (about 2 iso better than F3.5 to F1.4). Add the full touchscreen on the m50ii which the Sony does not have, only a single point touch focus, menus on Sony are not touchscreen. Video quality on Sony samples higher with 6k sampled to 4K, so with all the other advantages, the Canon m50ii is superior on most other areas. If someone mostly used camera for high quality HD1080 without crop, Canon rules. If you need full screen 4K, then Sony has it, as maybe its only standout feature with also the better microphone for outdoors on top. The best tip I got from your video is record in HD1080 with great Canon quality then uprez later to 4K for posting on you tube channel. Thank you for that!!!! Selling my Canon m6 and buying Canon m50ii and a sigma prime m mount. Add a small rode for Canon m50ii external mic and that eliminates that difference. Canon has a Blue tooth remote to turn on video for vloggers right in the box. The M mount is not dead, and the 3 Sigma primes at F1.4 in m mount are keeping it alive. Also another point missed that the Canon has 120 fps in HD720, I wonder how well that up-rezes to 4k in your system, but in HD should be fine. There is software from Topaz Video AI Enhance right now on sale at 2/3 off which can up rez from 720 HD to 4K with great quality. Love your review most of the other vloggers actually don't get right, for the most part Canon m50ii is superior. With vlogging channels expecting to triple by 2025 for sales growth, Canon will likely keep making the m50ii or later versions as long as people buy, and people like small kits for outdoors also. I do.

@@FulaanCreative I might have been wrong about changing the record limit on this camera as a software update, as I only read someone suggested this in a camera forum, and I cannot find the script anywhere to add to camera. However I did find workaround hacks by video pros, to automatically reset the video recording immediately on the very second it stops for another 30 minute record, with a intervalometer (which is a remote device that can plug into m50ii as it has a remote slot), and can be set for multiple times in a row up to 10. The person who suggested it, uses this to record hour long podcasts or some long event recording. However, I would express caution not to go too long if camera overheats. Other ways are to just livestream over HDMI cable to an Atomis Ninja or else send clean HDMI signal to "OBS screen capture" software with the camera in live video but not set to record on SD card, therefore no limit either recording externally. I’ve been debating on buying the M50, I’m currently using a Canon Powershot SX530 HS (has a great zoom, but that’s about it, I’ve found that for growth it is very limiting) and I’ve been overwhelmed with all the different brands and cameras they have to offer. Thinking of going down the mirrorless route to get ahead of what’s to come in the market, and this has convinced me that the M50 is most likely the choice for me! The ONLY reason I would go with the Sony is if I was having to do Long, Continuous videos as he described. Otherwise, it's Canon all the way for me and I own 2 of them. The high quality 1080p it produces is sweet!

Great vid man, Great points too. My first camera was the SL2, Very similiar to M50. later I got the R. I just sold my SL2 and EFS lenses to get the ZVE10. never used a sony so i am worried about the menu, but i think I will be ok. I made a vid on my points on getting the zvE10, and they over lap a lot of what you said. I love your shot veriety and creativity!

The camera I have now is a Canon T5 that I bought in 2015 and I loved how great my pictures turned out just by messing with it lol. Thank you so much for the great informational video! As a current canon user I have to say that I’ll be switching to Sony. The reason is simple. E-mount. Canon changes the mount each few years and tries to kill 3-rd party lens manufacturers. I have few lenses that are unusable if I want to upgrade by body. With Sony I can build up my lens collection with entry level body than buy a PRO body and still use every lens I own - by default. BTW i really like your video style. Very pleasant to watch man!

Awesome video man! Great info. Though I’m pretty sure you can connect the Sony to a phone (via Bluetooth I think?) so you can manage settings on your phone and not mess with the cameras positioning.

What matters most is if the strengths of a particular model line up with your work flow and what is important to you. It's not really a situation where one camera is the best for everyone or the best for every situation.

Just wanna say thank you brother. Out of the 1828845 videos I've watched.. yours really put the perspective simple. M50 mark II it is. Paired with sigma 16mm Lenz and a rode microphone. I create detailing content and do like to do some photography at car shows and what not so I think it will be perfect. 30 min limit ehhh I never record more than 10 minutes at a time LOL. The 30 minutes limit is very annoying for filmaking. It's not only a question of filming sport events: what about music exhibitions, celebrations, weddings and whatever last more than 30 minutes and don't accept any break?

I am a new sub and I love your content and your humor....I have the same background wall like you but I have tried to get shots like yours and cant get it right....I have a Canon M50 and a Godox 60 with 2 Neewar 660's and Ive tried eveything. Sony may be more affordable but when you mentioned the notorious menus I may go with the R10. I really want to get a good camera I can shoot video with for visual effects. If I can get the most data shooting at the best price point with the best combo of features I will go with something I can easily use. I hate messing with settings all the time and need a viewfinder for photos. I foolishly thought I could buy a smartphone but started watching your videos and realized a camera was by far the better choice. Phones are a rip off since the expensive phones aren’t being sold with cables and charging blocks anymore. There’s no point in me wasting $$$ on a phone I can’t even recharge out of the box. I have wanted a camera forever and it finally clicked that I can now budget for one and finally buy it! Thank you for your amazing channel. You have helped me narrow down the options with your practical advice.

Hello ! I am streaming everyday 3-5 hours on twitch and I am looking for a camera. zv-e10 is still unavailable and for canon m50 ii I hear that some lenses will be discontinued. No idea about overheating after 3-4 hours. I am not in the mood on installing USB fans etc.

Hello. There is no overheating issue that I am aware of for m50. Lenses are not an issue because you can get the commlite adapter for $36 that will let you use EF & EF-s lenses which literally makes 100's of lenses available for the m50 without losing auto focus or any problems like that. All I use for my m50 is EF & Ef-s lenses, I don't really use any native m-mount lenses at all.

Quick question; I used Canon EOSR for years (as well as 6D M2 and 80D) with various of lenses. I want to buy a new camera, most probably EOS R6 (because R5 is more professional and expensive) But, I also tough to buy EOS R again and M50 too for more practical usage. What do you think? I am took portrait, action photos, sports and use 300 - 400mm a lot. If you also have any other suggestion please let me know. I liked EOSR6 more than EOSR due to faster fps and better ISO range

I like the Canon Cameras due to their ease of use. Sony more lens choices and better specs. If I had to choose I would go for the M50 if I was on a tight budget and I would go for the R10 if I had a little more cash.

Haha, that was supposed to be answered in the video! It really depends on what is important for you. My preference is the m50 but the zve10 does better in low light and has a few other strengths over the m50 so it depends on what you need and don't need etc..

Looking at a budget used camera for a very balanced mix between video and photo and this was helpful. Was pretty set on deciding between a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 and the first Gen Canon M50 but still researching. Sony is pretty much out for me but figured I'd still check it out. I've had two Sony cameras, an action camera and a DSC50V. Both failed within two years, both due to software problems while the cameras were physically fine that put me off of ever buying another Sony.

Great video Fulaan. Can u help me decided which one? I have watch this video several times, but still cant decided which camera to choose. My old camera is canon m3, which i also have 2 other lenses for canon. So changing to sony is kinda hard. But, what i really like about the sony zve10 is a headphone jack for audio output, which canon dont have. This is kinda important for me personally to know the result of the audio when i use a mic. And the 120fps is also another thing that i consider. But then i heard you say that sony's 120fps is not as good as canon's. and the touch screen is not as good as canon. So its kinda hard to decided. 😅

Thanks! In your case I would go with the sony unless having to get new lenses is a big deal for you. The 120 fps on the sony is better than the m50 by far but what I was saying is that the 1080p on the canon is better than the 1080p on the sony but that could also be chalked up to personal preference. But being you will get a headphone jack which is important for you as well as good 120fps then I would go with the Sony. I like the canon image better but considering those aspects that are important for you that you listed then the image on the canon isn't so much better to sacrifice those things.

a6300 is pretty outdated and has some pretty major weaknesses compared to the zve10 and m50 mark ii. If it was me I would go with the m50 mark ii, unless you prefer Sony then the Zve10 is great. The new Nikon z30 isn't too shabby either.

True, but it's an extra step. These cameras already have a touch LCD so why not just make it fully functional. In the future I think Sony will eventually start offering that.

Hi! I really want to get this camera, but some other reviewer said that the lens mount is old and getting replaced anytime soon, which would mean that getting new lenses for the Canon M50 or Mark II would be extremely difficult. What are your thoughts on this? It’s really the only thing limiting my decision to buy this camera. Although recording for more than 30 mins would be nice, since I’m an artist and what I would be doing would be to record the process of my paintings. Would the battery get way too hot if I had like 3 sessions of 30 minutes? Any comment would be appreciated, Thank you!!

In my opinion there are already enough EF-M lenses that the mount situation doesn't really matter all that much. That being said I think In your case the ZV-E10 would be better. Both in terms of lenses and the lack of 30 minute limit.

İ like the zve-10 and don't know much about the Nikon z50. The problem is that there is some sort of chip shortage so zve-10 has been out of stock everywhere.
