In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

Love this scene... especially how he turns those skulls toward his victims before he gets started, as if to say "Insulted you? No, but you have insulted a messenger of death". Best part is, he gave them the choice.

I also like another version of this clip where he whispers something in Russian to corkscrew guy right before he dies letting him and us know he speaks fluent Russian and understood everything these assholes were saying behind his back.

It's by far the best movie about a one man army guy and this isn't even the best scene. the entire movie is a piece of art. Denzel Washington was born for this role. sorry for the John Wick fans.

What I love about this scene is that regularly the hero would kill everyone but the boss. Not him, he's just as efficient as possible. God Denzel makes it look cool!

Coolest, and funniest part to me is how he looked at his stop watch after it was over. It reminded me of like an Olympic long jumper after making a jump into the sand. Track guys always want to check their time. LOL Denzel was NEVER concerned about could he take those guys out. Only thing he was concerned about was how much time it would take. Funny yet bad ass at the same time. He looked at his watch like." Hmm not bad, but 2 seconds off my record. Just like a track guy would. Love this scene.

Part of the reason he was concerned about time is he was calculating how long it would take to kill them versus the amount of time that the boss would have until he bled/passed out.

I think the Equalizer role is a great fit for a man with Mr. Washington's talent and personality. He does this role proud. And, I think this is a character they easily can squeeze more out of, people never get tired of see the bad guys getting some push-back. It's like the Jack Reacher character, you never get tired of seeing some justice, even if it is only on the big screen.

The one who is great is the director Antoine Fuqua. One of the most sought after commercial and music video directors in the 90s has become a premier director of this type of action film. Excellent Shooting combined with a director’s eye for editing equals this equalizer vignette.

Aside from everything else I love here, I love the "Who IS this guy?" look the head thug gives to his crony after Denzel offers him the 9800. This is one fine bit of acting from a guy who probably only had a day or two on the set.

As we know, this clip is not the “extended” version of the scene. It is shortened and “sanitized”. The actual full R rated clip is even more raw, containing foul language and more blood. The full version even adds more to the passion and brutal execution of the fight.

Yea I had that happen to me years ago at a party for a friend ... this karate guy took offense to gesture a rival made to him ... karate expert locked the apartment door turned around and said who’s first ... I automatically reacted charging him from a few feet away .. he kicked me in the side but I was able to grab his arm breaking it ( I heard it snap ) and proceeded to break his nose with a series of fists to the face ... he was screaming in pain .... he shit and pissed his pants ... the smell was awful ... he was crying in pain as we called for an ambulance ... some people took him outside awaiting the ambulance and we continued partying into the night ...found out later the guy was a former Navy Seal and I was kicked out of the navy for beating up a petty officer who pushed me around one night ...... just a regular guy over here .... hahaha ... true story ....

I like to believe that the reason he opens and closes the door besides his OCD is he’s trying to leave but a part of him keeps stopping him almost whispering to him “They’re scum. They’ve given you all the reason in the world. That girl needs help. End them”. And after trying to leave and failing one more time... he gave in... and cut loose.

I remember The REAL Equalizer - Robert McCall (the late Edward Woodward). Still, this seems a reasonable modern version. I really must watch it - if only to find out what that watch fixation of his is all about! :-)

This is my favourite film of all time and denzel is my favourite actor, my hero :) I seen all his films no less then 5 times no actor can play the role like this as good as him he's so cold blooded,smooth and a true bad ass madafaka in every ŕole he sent chills down my spine an just give me a feeling I never get watching other films or actors. If one day I get a chance to meet him my life would be complete:)

He didn’t engage the thugs to alert them his intention. He walked calmly towards the boss, let the thugs come at him (he’s ready for them). He saved time and energy to get the job done.

It's the small details that matter. Shutting the door multiple times so no1 notices that he locks it bc its make a similar sound. Giving him time to assess the room and set his watch before attacking
