Please let me know in the comments what you think about the print run size!?

I think the distribution was bad. The US market is probably saturated but there is still very high demand in Europe. Let's remember the white rabbit sale, hundreds of boxes were sold within 5-10 minutes. So if, for example, boxes were available in Europe for 150 euros, I'm sure it wouldn't take four weeks for everything to be sold out. I think the print run is ok, but availability in Europe and possibly Asia was poor, which meant that boxes are still available in the USA.

I am in the US and have yet to buy into the game beyond the beta precons. I think the game looks great and would like to begin collecting, but I have not been able to find any sorcery communities in my area. Even the few stores on Sorcery's store locator do not seem to be actively doing anything with Sorcery. In addition to the supply of beta potentially being too great, it also concerns me that the price of Alpha has climbed so high even though the game has yet to prove it will be around for awhile. It gives me the sense that buying into the game may just result in heartburn later when the speculators leave the market.

A new game like this, I think you should be able to get a box at MSRP for a couple years. The problem in my onion is the hype and hoarding. I know we all reference TC having inventory still but we don't have a clue how many they've sold. If I had to guess I'm guessing they don't sell many of them because there seems to be a lot of people who still don't know about them. I would like to see more stores like TC and fewer that rely on boom or bust products from distributors or other middleman. That also reduces flipping and speculation. A new game needs time to grow and these secondary market prices overall are a bit of a joke. I would have loved to see what this game looked like without Rudy's intervention 🤔 If we have 1,000 active players by this time next year I'll think we're in a good spot. There has to be at least 60k beta boxes. Rudy got 10k and TC probably got that many at least. I'd guess 80-90k?

I expected TC to run out in early Feb. I'm shocked that there is no actual end in sight. I'm leaning towards too much printed, but the bigger problem is that it wasn't distributed correctly. Both issues are worse than just one or the other. There's plenty of product, and yet people constantly complain there's no one to play with in their local area. I've got a nice group in the area where I live, and I guess I'm lucky? TC needs to put up the "sold out" sign real soon, else I share many of the same concerns you point out here.

Great video again mate thank you. Admittedly this has concerned me because I now wonder if my collection will actually have any long term value. Indeed I too thought beta would be a small print run given it's the first official release of the first set. If they print beta into oblivion and back, I think this will have consequences.

great discoussion and thx for sharing another beta opening! imo if the printrun is higher than 50k its too high imo. the sellthrough rate of singles and crazy demand in the US doesnt rly reflect whats going on here in Europe. Would be awesome if cardmarket opens up for sorcery!

Hey Jüergen! Very nice video as usual and very nice box you opened there! My speculation/concerns on Beta: - As you mentioned, are they keeping stock so they will unlock it when AL comes out? That would maybe explain why AL will not have precons (because Beta precons will be available again when AL is released? Precons are in high demand in Europe). - Why was it so poor the distribution of Beta in Europe? Wouldn’t it be advisable to derive some of the massive stock that TC already has to other areas where the game is in high demand, such as Europe? Why do you think this is not happening? - How do you think AL is going to be distributed? Do you think we will see an improvement in Europe when it comes to distribution with the new release? I’m organizing a “get to know” the game in a local game store in Barcelona where I will be giving some “pauper only ordinary” decks. Problem is, the average spanish player will not be willing to order a product if it is not from a local store. It feels controversial to organize an event of a game that participants can not get and only with the “promise” that “eventually” the game will be available in the future. My concerns go mainly on community building. The game is awesome, hope it can get to grow healthy in the near future. After all, maybe it is still too early for Sorcery….

I feel the solution to the gap between AL and Beta is simply running an unlimited run. I would say no double sided foils in these boxes (foil with reg back). It would obviously impact some of the NF collector market however I do feel the true collector space is the foils anyway

But as the player base keeps growing, it could get impossibly expensive. So I like that it's not sold out yet.

Cheers! I think the Beta print run has been on point, although it is difficult to form a full opinion on it considering that not all of the product is in circulation yet. For a new product, scarcity can lead to a bump in demand, which Sorcery is certainly seeing right now. The limited access to product in some regions is likely attributed to the product exceeding demand expectations, but fortunately there seems to be just enough product to support further customer acquisition. I am hoping that the print run, whatever it is, lasts until at least June so that there is not too much of a gap between Beta and Arthurian Legends, which is projected to release in Q4. p.s. It needs to be a small niche game to have only one release a year. Once it has more of a following, they can print more. Flooding the market now will kill it this early. On a positive note if it does fail I will finally be able to open my boxes as they will be worthless. :)

if it's over 125k (really hoping it's no more than 100K), then I think there is a bit too much. the release schedule is my main concern. I get people like having this super casual game on the side, but it will die if they don't move to something a little healthier. I also hate being bombarded with product every 3 months, but their schedule is too far in the other direction, especially for something pretty unestablished.

Hey Jürgen....ich finde das Marketing und die Werbung fürs Spiel hätten in Europa ein wenig mehr gepushed werden sollen.ich war eigentlich jahrelang Sammler und interessierte mich nur gering dauernd selbst zu spielen (Star Wars,Magic,Shadowrun,...).Sorcery wäre das erste Tcg was mich sehr interessieren würde zu spielen, finde aber in meiner Umgebung keinen zu spielen(auch nach dauerndem fragen im LGS) aber leider finden sich keine Spieler da es zu unbekannt für andere ist.Discord und Tabletop sind nicht meins da ginge ich lieber in den LGS um zu spielen und um des sozialen Kontaktes wegen aber leider gestaltet sich das sehr schwierig für mich zurzeit.Ich bin mit meinem Beta Set durch dh. Boxen werde ich wahrscheinlich keine mehr kaufen,vlt Einzelkarten. Aber alles in allem glaube ich der europäische Markt könnte noch mehr Boxen vertragen was man liest an der Nachfrage mancher interessierten.Ich denke aber auch das die Company(oder Erik) das schon mitbekommt,ich hoffe zumindest, und die Verteilung der Boxen in AL,am US Markt und europäischen Markt, anders verteilen wird.

Hey Jürgen! Leider merke ich in Europa immer noch gar nichts von irgendeiner Art von Marketing. In meiner Gegend in NRW spielt es so gut wie niemand 🫤 selbst über Discord ist es schwer jemanden zu finden. viele Shops hier haben noch nie von dem Game gehört..und in unserer Magic-Gruppe Di-Mi-Do jeden Tag zwischen 20-60 Spielern haben 90% der Leute auch noch nie etwas vom Game gehört. Und das sind fast alles Nerds..anscheinend nicht so schlimm wie wir zwei, aber auch keine Leute die erst ein paar Monate dabei sind oder keine Internetverbindung haben 😃 Sorcery braucht viiiiiiiiel mehr Marketing..und vielleicht dann irgendwann einen Unlimited-Run mit weißem Rand 😜

I think maybe right now the demand isn't that great. But that's not necessarily a bad thing either. With the release schedule of the future sets it's going to be imperative to have available Beta boxes for playable. So it may be that the print run is a little higher than we think. If that's the case, it'll only make Alpha that much more special. Not a bad thing for the long term.
