Adam - great work and video (as usual!). Your work in the loft is transformational. I love your advice to younger people that futures are self determined, not by exam results. OMG, my question, is how on earth are the people responsible for that volts nest and amateur wiring even qualified? Do they even know what regulations are? How could anyone install in such a manner that they even think it is ok that way? How could they even sleep at night? So glad you are the one who guided the client so sensitively, and I can imagine tactfully about the situation, and then sorted that mess out for them. Feel sorry for the client that they got done over by lets face it a cowboy, a lazy trades person or just a incompetent buffoon. However you got them sorted, and thats the main thing. I honestly think for a business to do that kind of extreme shocking working (no pun intended😅)that must of been some kind of vengeance going on because that looks deliberate. There is absolutely no way sparks would do something like that and and walk away thinking it’s acceptable or safe. I know sparks out do some bad work but this something else. You can’t polish a turd and did everything you can fair play for taking the job on and somehow making it acceptable. Good job mate 👍 (that random MET fixed to joists like that with a random earth coming off had me stitches tho 😂)

What a lovely video, what a lovely bloke you are. I wish you were my sparky! I am not an electrician, so excuse the ignorance, but that looks like a plastic consumer unit, maybe 16th edition? @sotaelectrical

Hi Ben, thank you for your kind words!! Much appreciated!! So that was actually a metal consumer unit and recently installed as it had surge protection in it. Much better job. I wouldn’t have used fire rated clips above a plaster board ceiling as there’s no need. I’ve got the ‘newer’ version of that Milwaukee drill after having that one-it’s really decent. Only thing is rather than a toggle like every other drill for forward and reverse they’ve put a button on the top,so if you have the drill tight to the wall and need to put in reverse when gets stuck you can’t get to the button!!! 😂😂
@sotaelectrical
@sotaelectrical 9 ай бұрын

As a industrial sparks of 50 years recently retired even though I only did house wiring as an apprentice I would say my main comment would be not to listen to so called sparks on social media as far as I can see you have done the best that is possible putting a cowboys work right,although it wasn't in the price because the customer could not afford it I was taught as an apprentice that its good electrical practice to cut connections down to a bare minimum,so in the Industrial world I would have been told to rewire rather than install a junction box but I understand in the domestic game that's not always done,but overran a good job
