We at Gateways are working with Incarcerated females on a limited basis, with proper funding our next step is to take our program into the female juvenile facility

Way more men in jail, way bigger problem for men. Men have problems too, get over it.

I just finished watching a prison sentencing video before this video & some of the punishment for crimes seemed ridiculous. One man got life in prison for being present during but not being a part of a murder. Another young man got sentenced because just like these young guys, he grew up poor, was physically, mentally & emotionally abused, he was moved from foster home to foster home & he harmed people in those homes & in the comments everyone thought they deserved it. People think that prisoners are less than human & don't deserve to be a part of society. If it's something negative, people will glorify it on social media but the positive things get less attention.

@@mrmrsbaron5364 Yep, you are definitely right. I think we lose so much by putting people into neat little boxes. We need to open our minds to understand that there can be circumstances that makes someone do what they do. If a person has served their sentence, we need to move on, give them the chance to prove themselves and stop being so damn judgmental. To be honest here though, I would not be able to do this with someone who hurt children or for crimes of great violence. While I do believe that there still may have been circumstances leading to those behaviors, unless the prisoner received massive counseling and has a strong support system upon release, I'm a bit (a lot) hesitant to extend the same sympathies to them. I will call myself hypocritical because I know it is.

It's a nice sentiment but incredibly difficult if the circumstances leading to incarceration are the same when you get out. If you're not taught coping skills, reactions to situations can remain the same.

if what theyve done is your first thought, id hope youd change that way of thinking, its a heavily toxic internalized bias. An individual wants to better self, I will be supportive of that endeavour.

Hi Moritz Runngger, a lot of people think the way you do about this, and unfortunately it's that kind of thinking that leads to recidivism. Young people do not commit crimes because they are "bad people," but because they are dealing with difficult life circumstances or because they learned negative behaviors from others. Most incarcerated people were dealing with poverty before they were arrested. Or maybe they grew up in an area with gang violence and that kind of life is what they were taught to mirror. Or, they have a lot of pain they're dealing with because of tough family situations, and they turn to drugs to cope. So if all our behaviors are learned, or develop because of certain circumstances, why shouldn't young people be given the chance to learn that it is possible for them to get an education, get a job, and change the way they've always viewed their life? Their charges are irrelevant because everyone should be given opportunities to rehabilitate themselves regardless of what mistakes they've made in the past. If you needed a second chance, wouldn't you hope that someone would be willing to give it to you?

You know what’s even funnier that these people are young and are Americans they have a record which it’s going to make them get a job harder but the System “Democrats” rather help illegals with their kids than the American kids ..
