It's courious, since Hysteria they weren't using amps at all and Rockmans are $200-$300, not too expensive. From High 'n' Dry to Pyromania they were using Marshalls jcm-800. If so, a "Def Leppard 'Live In The Round In Your Face' without busting the bank" will be interesting, also a Pyromania era rig will be nice.

It's got a lot less to do with the actual task of sounding like and more so to do with advertising their big partners. You can practically guess, to a T, what they'l use every time. It's creative advertising, that's why there so many more 'without busting the bank', than 'busting the bank' videos because this price range appeals to most of the audience.

Why not use the DSL20CR? Throw a mic in front and you're gig ready. I once used a DSL5C at a local bar gig and had to turn down after the first song, imagine my surprise. There's so much talk online of small, low wattage amps not being enough so I cranked it and ended up being too loud. 🤷🏻‍♂️ As a community we need to rethink what makes an amp "gig-ready" and stop only recommending amps that piss off the neighbors with the volume at 1 haha
@misterknightowlandco
@misterknightowlandco 4 жыл бұрын
Any amp can be gigged with a mic so the people can hear. What makes an amp gig ready is whether or not YOU can hear it over a drummer and all of that on stage. That and it just doesnt feel right if your not pushing some air.

@silverstaralchemist 4 жыл бұрын
@@misterknightowlandco Fair enough, there is a certain magic in feeling the air move around you haha I usually play in a three piece so don't have any problems hearing myself on stage at bar gigs, but for bigger bands and venues I could see the need for more wattage. Finally! you did Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi! time for my verdict Livin On A Prayer - Talkbox was perfect but it was a bit hard to hear but it does sound kinda close to be honest, i give it a 4.5/5 You Give Love a Bad Name - You needed an octave for this one cos there's a subtle octave, not close at all, i give this a 0/5 Livin On A Prayer (guitar solo) - solo it's self was accurate but it needed that doubletracked marshall sound, i give this a 1.5/5 Wanted Dead Or Alive - 12 string part was great! solo sounded quite good here so i'll be nice and give this a 3.75/5

Jeez, you must be fun at parties. Harsh criticism of a couple of guys who are trying to suggest gear that will help people sound like Bon Jovi, not actually BE Bon Jovi, while staying under budget.

Thanks for your verdict, We could definitely add more pedals to the rig to get those tones spot on for certain riffs, along with adding another rig for any double tracked parts. This could be something we revisit in a By Busting the Bank video for "Bon Jovi"?

Thank you for doing this. I’ve been asking for this for AAAAGESS. I love Richie Sambora’ sound and you got close to the slippery one with this. Would love to see a Bon Jovi ‘BY’ busting but I’ll wait for that. Would have loved to have seen a bit from the New Jersey and Keep the Faith Albums as Richies guitar god status was rubber stamped on those but all in all good job 👍🏻

At 5:44, the riff is NOT 'Shot Through the Heart' ! It's 'You Give Love a Bad Name' ! Get it right !! Anyways, hearing Sambora do the voice box effect during 'Living on a Prayer' for the first time back in 1986 was the whole reason why I picked up the guitar in the first place - so thankyou Mr Sambora !! It was YOU that started my love for the guitar. One of my all-time favourite guitars is the Fender Sambora model that was equipped with the 'Lace Sensor' pickups and also had the star inlays on the fretboard, which I still own today.

What would the thought process be between code 50 vs katana on this. Is katana just the better modeling amp? It sounded great, just wondering since katana is always the easy choice within the modeling amp realm.

I kinda want that mrk2 katana. Seen as I can never afford the expensive amps and I've used the mrk1 as my practice amp for ages and the improvements the mrk2 has made is really good.

The Mrk II is a great update to an already brilliant amplifier! With the tone versatility and 100W 2x12 modal it could easily become a staple for gigging musicians wanting a budget friendly amp.

I'm curious why you never used a laney amp or does Andertons doesn't have any? There would be perfect possibilities for a 1500 pound budget. For example the IRT Studio with built-in reverb and pre-boost...

I really feel for you guys...the most interesting part is most of those hit songs are with Tim Pierce on guitar, famed session guitarist and also awesome KZfaqr. He wss the guy who was on most of those guitar tracks, not Sambora, who later joined the band...but by now, I'm sure someone else had pointed this fact out. On a positive note...I have a Blackstar HT- Studio 20...awesome tube amp...glad you mentioned it, though you went with the Katana. Keep rockin' and looking forward to a Ritchie Blackmore one in the future! Love you guys! 😎🎸
