In this sound test comparison, we metered the Griffin Armament Bushwhacker® 46 and the Hybrid 46 from SilencerCo using the same hosts and ammunition.

I would also like to know if the same large end cap was the only one used for the Hybrid 46.

This is my next large bore can. The competitor SilencerCo has given me run-around on a new defective Maxim 9. SilencerCo talks big but says defects are within spec. I like Griffin's focus on manufacturing quality.

So I love my SD-K but why does this one have these barrel length restrictions? I can shoot my 30 SD-K on my 7.5" barrel 7.62x39 but I can't shoot this one on it? I would have one on order already if it weren't for the barrel restrictions.

Do I understand correctly that 300 blk subsonic supressed tested quieter than 9mm subsonic supressed?

Excellent comparison video. Thank you. Been considering a multi caliber can for a while and you video. Looks like it'll be the Bushwacker 46 especially since it can be used for 22LR and is serviceable.

Whoa whoa. 16" 223 AR measures 174db at the ear unsuppressed? That's way more than the some of the other measurements I've seen floating around on the web which seem to point around 164db. Is that because this is an indoor test?

One of the largest jumps in muzzle velocity in a 5.56 rifle is from 14.5” to 16”….It’s probably going supersonic…i just read the later replies and the subsonic was a typo…they were using normal velocity cartridges 55grain for 5.56 test

I own a Silencerco Hybrid 46. Still in ATF jail(15 months now). I see reasonable questions and, smart remarks for answers. Did they change out any of the H46 end caps? For the smaller rounds .223, 300bo,.308 its a must. Your handicapping the H46 without them. Its like throwing a hot dog down a hallway. Yes data counts,but even the environment thats its shot in can change the results. I have my dedicated. 223 can and 9mm can. My H46 is for my 300bo primarily but, will ASR my 6.5 Creedmoor.

I like the Griffin better than the Hybrid on paper, but the Hybrid is available for so much cheaper from my dealer

Why did you use bolt action rifles... they tend to be quieter at the ear than a semi-auto.

The only bolt action rifle used were .308 and .450 Bushmaster. Those loads are predominantly hunting loads in a bolt action rifle. Look at other silencer reviews. I've only seen a Rem 700 type rifle used for 308.

You forgot .22LR? DOes the 46 suppress better than your own Optimus?

J N you’re not really supposed to shoot .22lr out of a hybrid 46 as it’s not user serviceable. Shooting lead projectiles (including copper washed lead) will result in lead build up within the suppressor over time that can’t be cleaned out. That’s probably why the test did not include it. I’m not sure about the other suppressor and if it’s not recommended to shoot lead through that though.

@@scooter2161 The Bushwhacker is fully user serviceable. That's the main advantage over the Hybrid 46 aside from the superior sound performance and mounting versatility.

@@atwoodatwood1820 Being fully serviceable is must in rim fire and can be an advantage for pistols are subsonics like 300 BLK. Id would say for repeatable zero and POI shifts on center fire rifle shooting its often or gimmick or disadvantage. Since after you take it apart and clean it you have to re zero which isn't always a good option to depending on its use. Also welding the baffle baffles together adds strength, that said the extra strength may or may not be needed for your application. I though I wanted everything user serviceable when I started but over the years I have gone the other way other then rim fire.
