So, what I'm hearing is you created the EZ LOK system for those who couldn't figure out the CAM LOK system. I've run the CAM LOK system since it was introduced and love it. I have never had any issues with it coming loose. I have had issues with the host can's piston cap (or whatever it's called) coming loose, but never the CAM LOK. I have had to teach customers how to properly use it. I'm all for options, but it's all CAM LOK for me!

The EZ lock “should” in theory have better retention. More thread engagement, higher allowable torque this force on the taper. The cam lok apparently can be damaged tightening too much. Apparently griffin addressed this, but not sure if it completely fixed the issue or not.

Yes, absolutely. Griffin, SiCo, Dead Air, and a lot of other manufacturers utilize a pretty standard piston design. There is an older legacy version you may encounter, so always do your research first, but I dropped one of their pistons into an Octane 45K, and bought cam lok mounts for my 1911, M9A3, and P07. So much nicer than switching carbon and lead fouled pistons every time I want to shoot the 1911 quiet.

How much use overlap is there with Ez-lok and Plan A? Is Ez-lok kind of like a Plan A without a muzzle brake? Could you, and do you plan on, making muzzle brakes with an Ez-lok taper/threads on the back instead of Plan A taper/threads? There are so many adapters in this industry! I feel like I could run a can 6 inches away from the end of the muzzle threads using nothing but adapters! I've bought one Plan A hub adapter and muzzle brake because it seemed to be the lightest in the industry for taper mounts but I'm afraid to invest in more because I don't know which products are going to be phased out for the new greatest thing.

@@timdonahoo from my search, the erector 9 is a direct thread suppressor. I sent you the device you'd need to make it EZ-LOK compatible. The EZ-LOK threading is not the same as a 1/2x28 thread pitch and will not work on its own, so would also require a 1/2x28 threaded EZ-LOK barrel adapter.

@GriffinArmamentOfficial
@GriffinArmamentOfficial 8 ай бұрын
Since .22LR is a very low pressure cartridge, you can use any mounting system you like. You can use the suppressor in a tilt-barrel configuration on .22LR fixed-barrel firearms. Its generally not recommended as the functionality of the booster assembly on tilt barrel firearms is sometimes sensitive to excess carbon and lead buildup, but it is possible.

I hate to be "that guy" but if direct thread suppressors come loose because of how the threads are cut, what is to stop the Cam-Lok or Ez-Lok adapter from coming off those very same threads, especially since you said do NOT use Loctite, etc? Yeah, I get that you want 22 pounds of torque, but still, it's the same thread system ultimately. Yes it's faster to put the suppressor on, but still, the loosening issue still would seem to remain.
@GriffinArmamentOfficial
@GriffinArmamentOfficial 9 ай бұрын
If you torque your adapter down to its minimum of 22 ft/lbs, it will take less force to break the suppressor loose from the adapter than it will to break the adapter from the barrel using just your hand. We've never had customers complain about their adapters coming loose or coming off. If the adapter is installed correctly, the threads should not come free. We don't advise using Loctite because some of our customers have complained that they were unable to remove their devices after their adapters and other accessories became totally locked on.

Seems the difference is if you want quick on and quick off for a mag or so get the cam lok. If you want a more robust solution you basically can’t damage by over tightening and can fire mag after mag without the can getting loose, get the EZ lok. I went easy lok because retention and idiot proof is more important than the 2 seconds I save attaching the can from the cam lock.
@LeCafeRacer

Yep. I did the same unfortunately. EZ-LOK is way better. They pretend like their originally marketing material didn't state that CAM-LOK was more secure than direct thread and "you don't have to check your suppressors every mag". I had to check mine more than direct thread using CAM-LOK.

In both cases you're still relying on a direct threaded adapter not loosening off though, right? So it's not necessarily any more secure than just direct threading unless you pin the adapter on or use rockset. Seems like machining the adapter specs with both the interrupted threads and taper on a barrel blank would be the way to go. 3-lugs are the same way, if it's machined into the barrel it's great, if it's a thread on adapter you're basically still direct thread with a handy 3-lug feature between the barrel threads and can.

Time yourself installing a standard 1/2-28 threaded silencer to the barrel, and compare it to this - it's quicker, but not a huge difference to most people. The coarser threads of this system won't get dented as easily as exposed fine threads, that's also a benefit. The retention features - if even adding a small amount of resistance - help over standard fine/square shoulder threads that loosen easily (leading to droopy can baffle strikes). Whether it's "worth it" to have the extra weight, cost, and clunkiness up front, added disassembly steps, etc. is up to the end user, of course.
