I've watched this anime when I was a 12 years old kid, now after listening to this song again and again I feel like I want to cry even more

I would be crying if they hadn't wussed out at the very end. Man, this was building up to be one of the hardest-hitting love stories I'd ever seen, but the end felt like a total cop out.

​@@nefariouswatcher While I agree on the ending, it still gets to me. And if it helps, it's still a doomed relationship, if somewhat delayed. The most obvious conclusion being upon graduation, when he's _supposed_ to leave, as she would obviously feel guilty for stealing his future. And even if were incredibly wishy washy and tried to find some way to stay, she'd understand that her continued existence would mean the permanent end of his lineage. (Not to mention the whole Kirie situation.) Bottom line, she... _ghosts_ him again sooner or later, exactly as she did at the end there.

@@ichijofestival2576 Maybe so, but that's all theoretical and I'm just referring to what we're shown. I really think the story could have been legendary in how gut-punching, heart-wrenching it would have been if they hadn't turned around at the very last second. An honest story about love, grief and acceptance (and self-acceptance). It was all for the better for her in the end, allowing her to finally rest in peace, but in exchange, she's gone for good, never to be seen or touched again. It really was headed toward a seriously powerful and compelling ending.

+Ergo Proxy Well it was a nice little experience...surely wasn't a very good show but the chemistry between the MCs was quite ok..the ending and this song is what made it worth watching the whole show.. the ending was the best thing they did. if ur gonna watch then know this that the actual story ends at ep 12 so don't watch ep 13 cause it's just an ova watch it like 4-5 days later that's the best thing to do..

Same with me, I watched the anime just because I randomly heard this song on KZfaq. When it finally played it gave me the shivers. :) It sure played during some of the most impactful scenes. The anime itself was not that special but it did have some magical moments when it combined art, music and voice acting just right. And of course the ending (not the credits one, the one before that, of course) was really well done. It was worth watching just for that :)

Exactly the same here! This song is just too good to not watch the anime. The whole plot of the anime is DECENT. Not THAT great, though. The ending scene and the one on the roof terrace where this song played gave me feels! The whole anime could be way better if it was no longer, though.

I think this anime has actually given me depression. That damn 12th episode... followed by ending up jealous of the main character because he ended up with a kawaii ghost maiden. Yes, I have sunk that low.

Seya Chowdhury It also has some extra story arcs/ "mysteries", a bit of a different origin for Yuuko... and another actual ghost besides her. Worth a read.

And thats the reason I hate the ending, probable THE BEST SCENE I ever seen was ruined. The drama, the ending would be so great if only they would end it on this moment, the style of the show would be completely different, and of course it would be more memorable because of original ending with its own moral.

Meh, I never really cared for the ending simply because it felt like they wanted to take it into a different direction before realizing that dragging things out would be an issue. Once Yuuko was basically freed, there was no real point to continue after that. They should have had her move on to heaven completely and Teiichi develops a relationship with Kirie (who is almost a direct descendant to Yuuko, even as far as resembling her quite a bit ), as that would realistically be better for his quality of life considering that he and Yuuko were quite literally worlds apart from each other. The way I interpreted the manga's ending is that Yuuko is eternally bound to Teiichi, so she is willing to stay by his side completely during his life on earth until he joins her in heaven.
