The SA dirt pedal's stereo processing of different voices is the most under-rated (and probably undiscovered) tricks in the pedal world for creating unique and usable sounds.

I really do support the main message of the video. Sometimes it's important to leave your comfort zone and explore new sounds and playing styles. Using stereo to create interest can work. But you should really be careful when to use it. In a live situation you might not have the possibility to go stereo and even if you do this does not mean that the audience will be able to hear it the way you intended it to sound. What's with the people sitting there in the corner way back at one side of the club? What's with those who are in front of the stage, but almost directly in front of the left PA speakers? If you can't guarantee for a good stereo sound for everyone, it's usually better to go mono or at least make sure the sound will still be good if the stereo image is messed up. A lot of sounds that sound good in headphones can lead to serious phase cancelation when mixed into mono. An interesting sound can help you to shine in the spotlight, but make sure that you as a band plan wich instrument should be the one getting the spotlight at wich time. If all instruments have interesting sounds and try to fight for the space in the spotlight you might end up with a worse result than before when everybody used standard sounds. A proper arrangement is what you need as a band... When recording I usually prefer playing two different parts than having the same parts on both sides of the stereo spectrum. Or at least do a proper double instead of using some fancy stereo effects. There are exceptions to this rule, of course, but chose wisely. 😊
