The saddest part is that a third RPG centered around a more winter wasteland setting of the town could have been really awesome. This feels like to me when XCOM decided to release an FPS game and everyone was like "...why, we already loved what you did with keeping the series closer to its roots"

When you have any level of semi open world gameplay, you NEED to have interactivity everywhere. Emptiness is BORING. Ironically, SOT and TFBH both had interactivity everywhere.

The fact that this game isn’t listed on Question Games’ website is telling. They were aware of the game’s imminent reception. Gotta wonder what circumstances they were dealing with. Anyone else think it's wild that licensed games have evolved so much? I remember back in the gamecube era and before, most licensed games were about this quality, with good games being the exception. Now, we're at an era where one of the most important fighting games was a Dragon Ball game. It still sucks that this game isn't that great, but it's crazy just how far we've come.

I really think someone had the idea to bury the town in snow so they wouldn't have to create a fleshed-out, explorable map. I also think Matt and Trey have just fully checked out on South Park in general, and I can't really blame them at this point.

After watching several reviews that all say the game is good and doesn't deserve the hate, it's refreshing to see someone reflect my opinion. This wasn't just a disappointing experience compared to its predecessors, it is a genuinely awful game. Lucky for me, I didn't have to play the whole thing to make a video about it, so I got a refund.

If this was 70 USD, I'd be furious.

Speaking of the menu looking like some low budget esgop game. Yeah, most of the UI also looks like placeholder graphic, that was never replaced. Look at 09:38 when you're picking power ups, look at the top right. That shit is default text font and takes all of 1 minute to code. Also also, as for the the entire game looking bland and repetitive because of the snow, i agree. Which is a shame because previous games have had snow levels, snow levels which were some of the most beloved levels of their respective games

Im confused why anyones mad it turned out to be shitty. The previews of it alone made me say nah. This is trash. They showed us how bad it was out the gate.

The problem is they missed why people loved the last games. We liked having a playable epsiode of South Park with tons of references to the show. This feels more like a basic game with a South Park skin thrown on, ironically like the N64 game

The consensus about this game is this it seems. it was made by THQ nordic some time after Matt and Trey signed a 900 million dollar deal with ViacomCBS back in 2021. Matt and Trey would look in the the game at certain points and give there input at certain stages of development. Matt and Tray are much more involved with other projects, like their Casa Bonita restaurant and making new episodes and specials as part of the deal they signed. So because of the above they likely didnt have much time to be more involved with its development. Another massive factor I heard from another creator Called LS Mark is this. Matt and Trey wanted to redeem themselves with the South Park games in general, since there are a lot of bad games out there. So they put a lot of time into the games Stick of truth and fractured But Whole. Did you know that Stick of truths script was originally 800 pages that had to be cut down to 500! Since many feel that the previous games, Stick of Truth and fractured But Whole have much better writing and story quality ( it feels like it could be an episode of the actual show) and pacing, again this is because Matt and Trey put all their effort into the games and had the time to do so. Snow Day feels luster in quality ( and rightfully so) They likely didnt write the whole story of the game and didnt get to decide what type of game it would be maybe? Thus the jokes, story and its pacing are not as great as the previous two games. One final thing. I think a lot more people like the RPG style of game from the previous 2 games much more than the style of this one. I really do like the rougelite gameplay style of Snow Day. Snow Day seems to be another one of these live service attempts of games as the game is only £24.99 and they have said that there is more DLC planned. I dont lik this idea at all. In truth, if the game launched and had more than 5 hours of content, say 8 hours of so, with some better story pacing and such it could have been so much better overall.

I've looked at several reviews and this is the first console one; I didn't realize it looked so much worse than the PC version. That version isn't visually amazing either, but at least it has shading and the snow doesn't look so flat.

If South Park Snow Day's post launch support includes further polish/bug fixes and balance updates it could make the game fun and maybe even make the project salvageable only if they can improve it immensely so on top of a discount during a sale like half off or something like that then this title could get a second chance.

When I played this game one of the enemies glitched underground and I was softlocked which wouldn't be bad if there was actual checkpoints but there aren't any and the missions go on for so long and I had to start over from the beginning of the mission I litterally gave up on the game right there

I was so hyped when I heard the announcement for the new game last year. It’s so disappointing to see the quality of this game drop drastically compared to the previous two games. I don’t think the game is *that* bad but it’s definitely overpriced for what it is and it’s definitely not polished enough to reach the golden standard they set with the last two.

I don't watch South Park, but I still couldn't help but check who developed this game just to see who it was since THQ obviously can't get the original developers of the RPG games, and I was actually flabbergasted. What do you mean the developers of this game also made The Magic Circle?! That's an actually good game! Apparently in between that and Snow Day, they have only made 1 other game, and according to Steam, that's good too. I'm going to guess they either weren't given that much time to work on it or something else. Also, an important note on the pinball tables (aside from me not playing them): the versions of them available on Pinball FX4 uses the new "Pro" physics, which can definitely make or break your experience with the boards. Trust me, cause I'm still extremely mixed on them! It's still great that these pinball tables are not going to be lost to time anytime soon, but I'm sure some people wish they had their original physics. (Also can't believe they haven't made Pinball M versions of these tables)

The only way i can see the games redeeming themselves is if they make a third game in the style of the other two rpgs and then make a comment about this game not mattering, sort of like when they switched from playing fantasy to superheroes at the start of fractured but whole. Just toss a lampshade on it and move on.

I think people are overly set on a 2D game, an open-world style 3D game would have been sweet. They really dropped the ball on this one… Now there isn’t a chance in hell we’ll ever get a good 3D game from them.

I wonder what the story is behind this game. Looking up the developer they are an indie studio with two well liked games. If I was a betting man I would put my money on Embracer messing everything up. That deal they had with the Saudis fell through and the game probably had funding pulled at some point. Sucks cause this game will now tarnish the reputation of these indie devs with two good games under their belt. Which I will take this time to say F*CK EMBRACER. All they have done is embrace studios with their hug of death. I'm pretty sure they have now killed more studios in a shorter amount of time than EA has done their entire life. Edit : Embracer also owns Aspyr. Aspyr just released that awful Battlefront classic collection. I bet Embracer is forcing these half completed games out to try to make back some money because they were idiots that bought too many studios without the actual capital to do so.

I really hope they'll actually add some of these QoL things (hit effects/sounds, card balancing, more goddamn maps). Even if it's a budget game, there's no excuse for it to feel unfinished in certain aspects. Also wow the Switch version is ugly, I knew it wouldn't be the best but even the snow 'transition' screen is pixelated, wtf?

I can see the lip syncing being a problem for the switch but I've also heard that current gen consoles are having that same problem, now I was playing on a high-end PC I didn't have any problems like that. But for being a South Park game I'd say this is a meh to okay game. The only reason why I bought this I grew up with the N64 South Park and that's the only reason why I bought it.
