I graduated from High School in 1976 and remember this period well. Finally got to see her live in Arizona around 1984... Beautiful brass fittings in the cab, etc.

Quite a surprise after all this time Doyle is still with 4449 even though he's in his 70s now. Surprised he hasn't retired yet.

A year ago I climbed into that cab and stood on that wood floor... I felt the air pumps thumping away and stuck my head out the window as we rolled along. You could have just killed me then and I would have died happy.

When she was restored, the nation was coming up on it's "Bi-centennial". That's why the Red, White and Blue. It was just temporary for 1976...
