My Momma put the squash, onions and butter in the cast iron skillet and cooked it until everything turned a nice shade of caramelization. I still make this and get to eat it all to myself. My sweetheart doesn't like the southern way of cooking even though we grew up in the same town. His Momma cooked more mid west. I have been slowly converting him to my style. I've bee working on this for over 30 years 😂😂

I love the yellow squash. Wanted to tell you how we enjoy it in the summer in another way. I sauté it with olive oil and sliced with onions in skillet. More onions the better. Then we pour it over penne pasta or your favorite. The yellow is nice snd sweet. Such an easy dish. Hope you try it. I married into an Italian family so I’ve learned lots of new dishes from how I ate in Georgia. I was born in Union Point but grew up in Perry. Love watching you.

I have always looked for recipes such as these that use fresh vegetables as one of my fondest memories was picking fresh veggies and preparing and cooking them with her. I haven't been able to find any recipes that was just like hers. As i was very particular with the ingredients used and the way it was prepared but today, your channel was randomly recommended to me. I did not know there was a difference in squash! Wow.

That’s how I cook mine. Sometimes I put it in a little casserole dish and put cheese on it. Put it in the toaster oven until the cheese melts. Mmmmmmm

I *LUV* stewed squash but I've always cooked mine just a little differently. I always use a cast iron skillet. Only add a little water with the squash and onion cause there's A LOT of water in squash and it needs to cook out. Once it's cooked out and starts to caramelize a little, turn your heat down real low and add your butter. Let that cook a wee bit longer then add some sour cream. Stir that in and serve it up. Even my picky eater of a husband loves my stewed squash. I'm so ready for summer veggies.

Yellow squash/summer squash is one of my favorite vegetables. This is how I make it too. I do add a pinch of garlic powder to it, and let it brown in the butter a bit. YUM!
