White rice for breakfast with a little milk, sugar, cinnamon and butter is another economical breakfast and tasty way to use rice. Thanks for sharing your extreme budget content!

God gave us thousands of emotions, so feel them all My mom passed away a few years ago and sometimes the grief hits me from out of the blue . A few months ago I found your channel and I realized something. That beautiful accent of yours reminds me of my mom because she was from Tennessee too. Thanks for being such a happy part of my day 🤗

I am Asian - I love plain rice just like that too - breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack - hot rice especially ❤ And my mom used to use the rice water to water plants - it works for us here.

I love watching you being thrifty. I remember a time long ago, when my dad died aged 49 at work. I was 16, my brothers were 10 and 6. At times, we didn’t have any power, as my Ma couldn’t pay the bill. However, we never went to bed hungry. Though there wasn’t any food banks back in together early 70’s. Love to see how you cope.👍

Love this video and I came up with a meal plan (but I can't do it on my current diet). For 3-4 people, I'd get: 1-6.5 oz pkg Betty Crocker Wild Berry Muffin Mix (0.92) 1-Great Value 7.5 oz Buttermilk Biscuits can (0.84) 2-Bananas (0.46) 1-12 oz package of Frozen Mixed Vegetables (0.84) 1- 18 oz jar Great Value Peanut Butter (1.74- if in your pantry, then omit and buy a can of cream of chicken soup) 2- Chicken Flavored Ramen packets (0.52) TOTAL 5.32 For breakfast, make the muffin mix into either waffles or pancakes and serve with bananas For lunch, make the ramen noodles WITHOUT seasoning (save for later), then stir fry with half of the frozen veggies. Save pasta water for dinner. Make a sauce using peanut butter and (pantry item) soy sauce and mix with ramen stir fry until thickened. Then serve. For dinner, use (pantry items) flour and oil. Use leftover pasta water (with ramen starch) and the leftover ramen seasoning to make a chicken soup/gravy. Once it starts to boil, add the rest of the veggies and the biscuits and make your "chicken and dumplings".

I may be buying some muffin mix! Gotta waffle/pancake it! I really appreciate these kinds of videos. I was a social worker for 25 years. I daily worked with people who struggled to keep their bellies full. And even if they got a good bank box, many did not have a stove or oven, and cooking the items were a challenge.

Hello, I just found your channel last week and I have got to say I love the fact you are down to earth, understanding of the struggling of parents and other adults who are having a hard time feeding themselves. I am the type of adult who is having a hard time with that and these videos have helped me the past week. I am on EBT and so because of that I am on a fixed budget of exactly $70.25. Now yes I am just one adult and that would normally be good but I do have food restrictions so it is rough me for me most weeks, these have helped so much so thank you. You have a follower for life

Another thing you can do is start a condiment drawer - stuff like salt and pepper, sugar, soy sauce, taco sauce, etc - if you don't have the $ for bottles of each, just grab a few packets since they're usually free and easily available :)

You needed more water because of the pan. More surface area made the water cook off faster than it would in a pot. And the yummy stuff on the bottom that you spread around by adding more water? That's called "fond," and I'm quite fond of it! Pouring in the liquid to help make your sauce is called deglazing. It just goes to show that fancy cooking isn't that fancy. It's just terms for things we were probably doing anyway. A bechamel? That's white sauce. A veloute? That's chicken gravy. Ha!

You could make a peanut sauce to go with the California mixed veggies and rice. Thin the peanut butter out with warm water and stir. Add what you have: garlic or garlic powder, brown sugar or honey, siracha or crushed red pepper, soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir well.
