As an Indian living in the states I can strongly empathize with her letter. But I do want to encourage everyone who's listening who's feeling lonely being in church with people who look different than you, it gets better. I pray that God would show up in your situation.

I wept real tears hearing that letter because I can so relate and it's confusing as a "newer" believer. It's a deep pain that must be lamented to God and wrestled through. God help all of us who feel this way and bless Your Church, Lord to take the commandments seriously and pray to have and maintained hearts that love thy neighbor as thyself.

Been lonely in church since 2017. My group was broken up. I have fought since then to find my people. Prayed and asked God for some people but heard nothing and found no one. In 2020 I decided to fight for it. I’m still fighting and although it’s gotten better some days I feel if I didn’t show up people wouldn’t notice. It’s hard to get people to commit. Everyone is busy. It can be disappointing. But we gotta keep fighting for each other. God has given me a spiritual mom and my whole family just now a spiritual Dad. So as I’m listening and praying God is feeling in the gaps. The enemy wants to keep us isolated and depressed. Keep knocking until someone answers and in the meantime that void can only be filled with the Father.

Ouch! The responsibility that comes with healing... I've never heard anyone talk about this beyond sharing a testimony.

I know someone my age that goes to my church every Sunday and we see each other every week. I told him that exact statement, "I don't have any friends here." His response, straight to my face was, "I don't want any more friends. You can keep all that." Not in a disrespectful way or tone, but he was just stating very matter-of-factly, "I don't care about having friends. I don’t need them." And that's inside the sanctuary on a Sunday morning that this conversation happened. Now, we could go a hundred different directions as to why this individual feels this way. He's just bitter, he's a negative person, maybe nobody wants to be friends with him and it's developed this negative mindset, none of which are likely true, he doesn’t feel like he fits in at the church (despite being an active part of the worship team), etc. There's a multitude of possible reasons, and honestly most of them are probably wrong because people hide the true reasons for these things from other people. Guessing the individual reason for this individual case is irrelevant. The point is, folks in the church do not, on a large scale, actually live out the lives that they pretend to walk in the rest of the week. This has always been the case in church for as long as the church has existed. I would hate to see the real numbers of how many people ACTUALLY follow Jesus outside of those four walls. It's no wonder people don't "fit in" in church. Most of them are participating in real church while living fake lives. Why is this important for the subject of loneliness? Bc the base of the reason probably has something to do with people being naturally fake to an extent and then trying to fit into groups of people who walk it out every single day. Of course you don't feel connected with the church. Are you really with them to begin with?
