Southwest Airlines bids farewell to Legendary Pilot Lou Freeman

Captain Lou Freeman was Southwest's first African American Pilot, and the first black Chief Pilot at any major U.S. carrier. On June 8, 2017, Capt. Lou flew his final Southwest flight from Dallas to Chicago, where he now calls home.

Lou Freeman was the best Chief Pilot that Southwest has ever had. Also just a great man of integrity! We miss Lou Freeman.

what a great honor. a amazing man to look up to as a mentor. I take the speech " you have many choices when you fly " seriously. And I always choose to fly on Southwest. enjoy your retirement Capt.

I retired in February of 2017, after 10 years of having fun at work. I do miss some of the friends I made and all the flight crews.
