As a rampie who de-iced 8 aircraft today, 4 commercial, 2 private and 2 air force(Canadian single prop), I am damn sure that when I am finished spraying and tell the driver to tell the pilot that his aircraft is clean...I know that is clean, 100%...every aircraft that I de ice, I watch them take off to make sure that they have a positivie climb rate/gears up attitude. Pride in what you do!

Dang SWA. I know you guys are budget but at least give your northern de-icing crews a enclosed cab!!!
@DavidThomas-me6pi2 жыл бұрын
I am not an expert at all. But it would seem to me that the most efficient and effective way to do this would be to have a mobile dome by the beginning of the runway that the plane pulls up into that is heated and the plane gets sprayed down with hot water in a warm environment and get cleared for takeoff with only 20 seconds from the time it leaves the dome until the time the pilot drops the throttle.
@RoyalMela Жыл бұрын
Does not work. Water starts freezing very fast and even a thin ice layer can cause major loss of lift. You need de-icing.
@DavidThomas-me6pi Жыл бұрын
@@RoyalMela OK fine, but use the deicing liquid inside the dome that I’m talking about.

What is the purpose of de ice a plane?
@Dan-of9jy7 жыл бұрын
if you would not de ice a plane if its frozen it can cause technical problems and could even cause the plane crash because the pilots don´t get the right information from their computers about the temperatur and air pressure and other important thingd
@JustinLHopkins7 жыл бұрын
derek frost If ice accumulates on the wing, it causes a separation of airflow and disrupts lift. This can cause serious issues including stalls, or loss of control. If ice accumulates on instruments used to tell the pilot altitude, or speed the reading can be incorrect which can lead to making incorrect decisions.
