The G-91R4 was my first premium jet, I bought it back in October/November to see what jet combat was about (was still grinding out Tier IV at the time). It's forgiving, it's fun, but it's only as good as its pilot. The Sea Vixen has my heart these days, but I'll always have a soft spot for the R4 and take it for a spin now and again.

As someone whose played jets for along time, a lover of Bismarck (Military History Visualised these days) all I've wanted is this jet for the camo. It's just stunning

I bought the premium F-5C and its been a tremendous help for going up the tech tree i already had 170 hours when i bought it which isnt too much i understand but i tend to get 1-2 kills at least every game and some games have even been 4/5 kill games in full uptiers idk if i just grasp the game quicker than most people but ive watched videos and have all the important keybinds ofc and personally for me i would say it was worth it.

6:00 also important to note that the g91 rips really easily in rolling turns, so it's better to err on the side of caution and loop up

I find 4 aa20 nords more effective. People dont expect missiles on a headon While this loadout removes 2 mg, 4 50cals are kinda bad to begin with so it doesnt feel like it makes a big difference

People say this is a bad jet, I never understand, a lot of the time these things are very good at dogfighting and are underestimated quite a lot by 9.7s (other than the mig 21s there’s not much you can do against them)

Fact : German Air force G.91R/4 was used for aircrew repair training or pilot training only. And only Portuguese G.91R/4 had armed with Air-to-Air Missiles.

I genuinely think people overblow how hard jet combat is, my buddy does awful in props, has maybe about 80 hours and cant perform in them at all, but the second he jumps in the jets he starts doing really well, we some premium jets at the Christmas sale and now he actually enjoys playing the game.

Honestly helped me so much. Got the g91 for ground rb but played a bit of air rb aswell. After matches and matches of max 2 kills and dying all the time i watched this and instantly the results are much better. First 2 matches got 2 kills each and no deaths (thats good for a start for me). I appreciate the video!

When I played the Hunter FGA9 and Italian R/4 a lot, I used the BnZ/reverse BnZ tactic. Worked beautifully. Doesn't work quite as well in the current meta. That's okay because I don't fly those too often anymore now that I have most planes in the countries I want.

I bought the Italian R/4 and grinded the entire Italian tree. Got the 104S a week or two before they added the bane if its existence: the MiG-21bis.

I hold a real distain for this plane, I'd be fine if it got only the nords, or the aim-9b. But it gets both, and the players of it are normally either brand new or stomping with it.

I had no jet experience so i first researched and spaded the A4E Early squadron vehicle. I liked that and did quite well with it so i decided to buy the G91. If you want to reduce the chance of wasting money on something you might not like i recommend doing the same, they use the same anti air missiles so if you cant make them work with the A4E i would not buy the G91 R4.

I like how you get 1200 rounds, rather than 200 round say with the MiG 21.

I bought the Leo 1 L44 because i was frustrated how slow the grind is. In the beginning i sucked ass and couldnt get a kill with it but now Br 9.0 is my main and i have a proper lineup now. Back then it literally was spawn, maybe make a kill, die, leave, repeat

I bought a prem jet when I only played tanks and It was a horrible experience, I then spent time grinding planes via the tech tree and now I do a lot better in jets, worth the effort tbh.

I didn’t buy my first jet(F5C) until I had over 100 hours in. Even then I have barely even used it. Same with the XP-50, A6M5 Ko, and SU-11. The XP-50 I don’t use because it is literally made of wet paper and toothpicks. The A6M5 Ko I don’t use because my Japanese pilot doesn’t have enough G’s and Stamina to handle it quite yet. The SU-11 I don’t use because it’s kinda difficult to handle and ammunition is so limited and a little difficult to aim accurately.

I understand your POV about not wanting people to jump into premium jets, but at the same time some people only want to play war thunder for the more modern vehicles only to realize the years of grinding it takes to play them. This is their only alternative, other than to not play at all, and that is why i don’t mind the premium jets and why i’m disappointed gaijin didn’t separate the modern vehicles from the ww2 ones

Hey Spit, can you do a video on the F84B with its airspawn? It's a pain in the ass to fight against at 7.0-7.7 cuz of the spawn, but it also gives it a better chance against F86s and MiG 15bis's which it never had to face before they were put to 8.3.

I have also been actively grinding the event. I got the third minotaur on the 11th and i calculated that i made 3 ammo racks and i had 11 extra rounds. therefore 89 rounds. so im gonna assume that 80% of my battles had the requited 50% activity, therefore 89 rounds is 80% of how much i wouldve gotten with my playtime, therefore i wouldve had 111.25 rounds therefore i played the game for 55.625 hours which is 55 hours and 36 mins lets add an hour becauss queue. and... 57 hours. for an f4f early which isnt even a premium. but damn my school break was well spent.

I think ya messed up the editing a bit to the end there, otherwise a rather solid review with some somewhat exceptional gameplay to back it up

You should definitely check out the MiG-17AS, the best premium jet (if you can fly it)

its always funny seeing these things. Usually I will be going mach 1 in my f100 and a g91r4 will zoom climb up to me fire all 4 aim9bs then die.

Still havent figured out how to use the nords in that plane so I shelved it except for the occasional pve match to get my boosters for the day.

Do you suggest buying mig-17as or g91/r4? I enjoyed German r3 very much (except the lack of missiles) and played German mig15 bis, but hated it because of its extreme lock-ups above 800kph. I heard that mig 17as doesn't lock-up as much.

i recently grinded the event and planned to get the g.91 r/4 and the leo a1a1 l/44, now i have 200 hours of so a 262 so i kinda have experience of jets. you are right about not knowing about jets, they have not as close of a pull up and turn speed as the regular props people experience. when i picked up the 262 2 months ago it was cancer, literally crashing into the ground after i cas people and also trying to turn fight in a jet. to all the new people, even if you watch this video and will not agree do as little as please hop into test drive for a couple of hours and watch some tutorials on how to use jets. or you will be facing against good players who will slap you back to the hangar and you will rant about refunds. point is listen to spitflyer

this be why 8.3 USA is painful for gun sabres

g91's are planes for experienced players, they are one of the slowest max speed and slowest accelerating planes at that BR, only premium g91 gets missiles (not including YS here) which is funny but okay.. to play g91's you need a bit of skill, especially with r3 and 30mm since they have high fire rate and only 250 rounds, the planes are good, but they were much better before 2 major updates, so I don't recommend them playing in air rb, pre series and r1 are trash basically which lefts you with r3 and 2 premium g91's kek..best thing that plane has is its defensive power, its really good in defensive flying, most of the "good" games that you will have in it are probably lucky ones.

i disagree alot with the experience thing. a 100 hour player has watched a lot of videos of the game, and probably has acknowleged most to the basic knowledge (speed good, dont turn) and doesnt have to really go into full tryhard mode conserving energy, mec, flaps and belts and stuff since most jets are really forgiving in the energy context, and you can get away with alot of mistakes of you have the correct positioning, situational awareness and knowledge of defensive flying. missiles make aiming almost completely useless compared to props.
