@ Joe Ritter. Sentence structure has been so confusing to me and I have finally come across someone that makes it seems more digestible for a beginner. I am going to be majoring in Spanish as well come next spring. I am 40 and have always wanted to master this language...not even close. But I am doing so much to get a great jump start. I was wondering how has your experience been since you have began your major?

Sometimes it's hard for natives to explain because they use these things without thinking about why. Teachers only go by the book. I try to just dig deep and give you everything that you need to know. More videos on the way.

Rickie Walls was great man! I dated this girl there for a year and a bit so i was in cuba pretty much most of 2016 and 2017. I love it. People really get a kick out of a white boy from canada speaking in cuban spanish. hahaha

@ sí un poco. trato de que no. but i spend to much to much time speaking with cubans that the accent and the slang just rubs off on me. tengo un profesor de Colombia con el que me reúno una vez a la semana. I feel it is a more neutral accent.

Rickie Walls Sure! Here is an excerpt that explains it much better than me from the most useful and complete grammar reference book ever, Butt J. & Benjamin C. (2013). A New Reference Grammar of Modern Spanish, 5th ed. Sorry in advance for the long post. (a) Restrictive adjectives follow the noun. (b) Non-restrictive adjectives may precede or follow the noun. Some always precede the noun. Restrictive adjectives narrow the scope of the noun that precedes them: vino espumoso 'sparkling wine' denotes a restricted or specific type of wine; odio la carne frita 'I hate fried meat' refers only to a specific sort of meat. Non-restrictive adjectives typically refer to the whole of the thing denoted by the noun: las aburridas conferencias 'the dean's boring lectures', and la poco apetitosa cocina britanica 'unappetizing British cooking' both attribute a quality to every member or aspect of the thing referred to. Unfortunately the distinction between restrictive and non-restrictive adjectives is not always clear, and the decision about where to put the adjective often relies on a feel for the language rare among non-natives. As a useful, though not absolutely foolproof, guide to whet her an adjective is restrictive, native speakers of English can apply the following test: if an English adjective sounds correct when spoken with a heavy stress (or, more accurately, with falling intonation) -' I don't like SOUR apples, but I do like SWEET apples' - then it is almost certainly restrictive and its Spanish equivalent must follow the noun: no me gustan las manzanas agrias, pero sí me gustan las mananas duIces. If an English adjective sounds wrong when stressed it is probably non-restrictive and its Spanish counterpart may well precede the noun. If one stresses 'beautiful' in 'the BEAUTIFUL sun of Spain', it suggests that there is another less beautiful Spanish sun. This is absurd, so the Spanish adjective will probably precede the noun: el hermoso sol de España. Ordinal number adjectives do not follow this rule, cf. está en el quinto capitulo, no en el cuarto 'it's in the fifth chapter, not in the fourth'.

It is and opinion, but don't get so caught up on the grammar my friend jaja. This is how natives will say it, so it's one of those things that we just have to accept.

For any learners of English , most native speakers speakers speak fast and slurred . You need a lot of listeking practice to understand native English out of the classroom .
