I recently used a Bosch concrete drill bit in my hammer drill to drill holes in concrete for expansion anchors, and that Bosch bit worked freaking awesome.

Thank you for this video. This was extremely helpful to determine which drill to get. I actually had a hammer drill -SDS pro from Harbor Freight. I thought it just used 6" long bits and I need a SDS Max to get a bit longer than 12" to add extra rebar in a failing small retaining wall . Harbor Freight actually had a $20 box set of SDS Pro 14" bits from 1/4 to 5/8" . This video saved me a bunch of money. The SDS Max set-up is super nice for a contractor, but I could not justify the expense for the limited work.

I have both SDS plus and SDS Max tools and I tend to use SDS Plus up to 16 millimetres anything over 16 mm I go to SDS Max the reason for that is if I go any bigger it's a lot more work on my SDS plus drill that is probably the best gauge when to use one or the other so if you want your drills to last a long time go by that gauge

I was exposed to massive amounts of silica dust without knowing or protection while drilling holes for housing and blowing out the holes with compressed air now I am trying to get a Whole Lung lavage to SAVE MY LIFE and remove the silica dust in my lungs before it's too late please spread awareness about a possible hope for removing the silica dust from lungs before it causes fatal damage.

I'm old school. I still like spline drive because when I do overhead drilling into concrete, the spline locking mechanism doesn't care about getting concrete dust in it and never malfunctions.

The SDS max with a really wide spade is great for trenching underground lines in hard soil with a lot of clay.

The SDS-Max with the ground rod driver bit is also legendary for turning a difficult job into child's play. It pushes 1/2-inch ground rods in like they were being driven into butter.

What is best to put a 1.25" hole through hollow CMU block (cinder block)? SDS max with diamond core bit or drill through from both sides with a standard concrete bit?

A good bit would be: Bosch 1-1/4 in. x 8 in. x 13 in. SDS-Max Speed-X Carbide Rotary Hammer Drill Bit for Concrete Drilling. You need a variable speed trigger and you need to go slow to avoid cracking the block.

Given that very people probably have BOTH a SDS-Plus and SDS-Max tool, the question of which to use is somewhat moot. :-) The manual for my SDS-Max tool recommends always putting a little dab of white Lithium grease on the grooves of the bit prior to inserting them into the chuck.

That would be a jack hammer, not a hammer drill. A hammer drill is not up to that task at all.

Did u find the the jack hammer that u were looking for to complete the job u needed to do? I'm asking cause I'm just away to start my own drilling supplies company which supplies Sds Plus+Sds Max bits,alongside the Sds hammer drills+also the standup breakers for heavy duty concrete work i.e knocking out the concrete frm fence posts,paving slabs+heavy duty kerbing,breaking up foundations etc so u get an idea of what I'm gona be supplying+selling over the phone+through my website but iv got a lot of leg work to do to get it off the ground which may never happen but I'm trying to make a dream in2 a reality but god willing I will concour all the obstacles that lie in front of me and somehow make this a reality as I have no choice really as its not just me I'm supporting.... It is quite sad for me to know that most of rotary hammer users are either ignorant or refuse to lubricate the shank part of the drill bit with a specific SDS grease, which is quite cheap and available at major hardware stores. I have sent quite a number of my company's rotary hammer to the service centre due to the drill bit holder part of those hammers being worn out and sometimes completely destroyed/torn apart.

You can try it. The grooves on a SDS plus bit may cause your bit to wobble on regular chucks hammer drills.

Is that "concrete" wall? If so, how thick is the concrete wall? the size of the drill refers to how large of a concrete bit that it can handle.
