I know you guys had some issues at this track day but you guys deserve a lot of respect for the effort it took to build these cars and also a shout out for driving both the Supra and the GTR in anger on a racetrack. That content is really rare nowadays and you guys did it with quality in mind from the parts to the camera angles. Would not hesitate to watch another track battle if you guys decide to keep improving from the experience gained at this track day.

@@BeeBeefyI was always a person who liked the deeper tone of 2JZ vs say the 1Jz GTE which is 2.5 liter and the GTR which is a 2.5. I think that’s the main reason , since 2J is a 3 liter 🤷🏼‍♂️. But I know a TON of folks would say opposite. Idk the more you go higher pitch it’s reminds me of a street bike or something! But LOL yea, Supras sound NASTY with straight pipes! 😳.. not to mention a set of race cams!! When I was finally working on buying one I was already exhaust shopping 😂.. and compared to the cobras I’ve owned.. Supras on YT just sounded too quiet!… until I got one!.. and instead of going straight pipe I forked out the cash for a 4”. Full titanium system. And wow! What a night- day difference from HKS.. Mines still TT and it’s still sounds so nasty! Sometimes like a dodge Cummins w 5” exhaust 😂.. But,, on the YT thing, there’s something about the pitch of the exhaust that cameras or phone can’t pick up! It’s like it distorts it and/or makes the whole sound clip quiet!! My car is extremely loud outside of it. But it’s pretty soundproofed because of the dyno matting inside! 👍🏼

A RB26 engine refresh this off season (rings, bearings, seals, gaskets coatings and treatments) would be such a wise investment at this point. It would increase its value, durability, drivability, performance, enjoyment and likelihood of being driven.

My thoughts exactly! Get the average time from both drivers to see which car is faster (once the issues of the GTR get sorted). This would take the driver out of the picture and boil it down to car performance.

I actually really liked the combination of outside footage and your commentary, the GTR felt visceral around the track. Also I love the supra and think it is underrated in the corners but that setup on the RB just sounds amazing. Thanks for putting in so much work (but you get to drive your dream cars).

i could hear the breathing on DP onboard cam, that's how focused and struggling he was. That's why i love this channel, everything is real, both of you try your best to keep things real and that's the whole point of it for me. Great video. PD: no fucking way that anyone in the world can say that 2JZ sounds better than an RB, specially with both cars on track.

Two different cars! The rb26 power is more linear better for the track but for Street drag racing nothing can touch a 2jz! More reliable too!! I take the supra anyway!!

Both are the same to maintain. RB doesn't do anything different. Especially at these power levels. 1000hp different story.

Use blue Loctite on that shift knob to keep it in place and straight. You don’t even have to get it all the way tight to the bottom of the threads; the Loctite will hold it in position.

Both awesome cars! I have fond memories of an early 80's Skyline which a buddy had when I was in Japan. Believe it or not he used to loan to to me for a weekend sometimes. Driving right hand drive in Japan after getting used to it seemed more natural back then. Another buddy had a Celica I could borrow so I had two great friends to say the least. I will say I am almost ambidexterous so didn't have too much trouble. Of course never took it on the track so didn't have to worry about shifting quickly. Love your videos and that you are not perfect drivers. It gets old watching people driving hypercars perfectly on prestine tracks. Too bad these cars are so expensive now. I keep hoping to find an older Honda or something to buy and have fun with. Keep up the great videos! The Acura/Honda build off series was gold!

Really awesome series, hopefully we will be able to see more of these two cars driving in the future. I would love to see you guys swap cars and see what your opinions are as well. I'm not sure if that new RaceBox can record stats on acceleration, 1 - 200 times and the like? But that would be something really cool to add in as well if possible. Wish I could afford to buy either of those two awesome machines 😅👍

The episode we’ve all been waiting for! Well done fellas, both cars are amazing! Pete, regarding the AC, like you said, there’s a setting in the ECU where you can shut off the AC after a specified RPM, most of us disengage the AC compressor above 4K rpm, that should solve your issue.

They use Link G4X right? It looks like the AC should deactivate on more than 90% TPS if the setting from the base map hasn't been changed. At least it's like that on the G4+

I really like my racebox, negligible difference to the transponder lap times when i tested it, and the data is very accurate. The app is good for quick analyzes between sessions, and logs can be exported for circuit tools for example for deeper Analysis, or vbox test suite for acceleration analysis. The display is a bit small, bigger would be better, but the live predictive screen is good, with the green/red bar sliding in the bottom of the screen depending on your current speed. The support answers on mails very quickly aswell.

This was awesome! I had a thought though when you said you can’t go crazy with the builds because they’re collector cars, why not take a car that has a similar power train from each manufacturer (Toyota Aristo and Nissan Laurel) and do another series and compare them

I went to a Formula D event last night in Irwindale California, there was a Turn 14 trailer and booth right at the entrance and I totally heard the Speed Academy intro tune in my head. lol.
