The Hartnell impersonator is really brilliant!

Just discovered that John Guilor reprised the Hartnell voice for "Day of the Doctor."

I recently watched Episodes 1 and 2 of "Planet of Giants". Then instead of watching the broadcast version of Episode 3, I watched the reconstruction of Episodes 3 and 4 for the originally intended 4-part format. And I must say, I definitely think "Planet of Giants" works out better as a 4-parter than a 3-parter. We get more screen time with Forester, Smithers, Hilda Rowse and Bert Rowse. It's just a shame Donald Wilson decided to have the serial edited from 4 episodes down to 3 and then later the original recorded Episodes 3 and 4 were wiped. But this reconstruction is amazing. John Guilor is so cool doing William Hartnell's voice. He was totally convincing when he did his voice in "The Day of the Doctor". When I first heard that line 'Calling the War Council of Gallifrey, this is the Doctor.', I honestly thought that was Hartnell's voice at first. But then I thought 'How could Hartnell have said Gallifrey if the name of the Time Lord's home planet wasn't revealed until "The Time Warrior"?'. Katherine Mount was also very convincing voicing Jacqueline Hill. The only thing I don't understand about the Episodes 3 and 4 reconstruction is why they didn't apply the VidFIRE process to give back the original video look.

In the 60s, they filmed parts 1-4, then thought parts 3 and 4 were bland, so edited them together, junking some parts permanently. It became a 3-parter, and this project aimed to restore it back to a 4-parter.

As much as you and a vocal minority of fandom dislike Ian Levine, we all owe him a debt of gratitude for his intervention in saving a large part or Who's past, if he had been a few months later then god knows what stories would have been left, he has also provided a lot of the colour material needed to restore the Pertwee stories and a lot of the DVD extras for Nationwide, Swapshop et al have been made available because he offered them to the range. Classic Who would be a lot poorer without him!

My goodness, but a lot of these posts are extremely rude. I think this is a brilliant way to restore lost segments.

I like him for saving the surviving episodes but I don't like his attitude towards the spin-off media.

Oh look another exclusive first look...... Only a month after release, hardly exclusive or first look is it, if it was for the next release Ambassadors of Death I could see the point of posting this, but not when the disc has been available for a while!

Does this mean that the 2 episodes will be remade as cartoons?
